We used to have a chap called SuperTrouper who said he regularly used to play Brian at pinball. Mind you, he also used to have conversations with his feet and hide from jam jars, so I'm not sure we can really take his word for it. |

New someone who was in Madisons Night Club in Newcastle in 79, he was very drunk so decided to crash out in one of the booths that looked on to the dance floor. After a while he noticed that people were looking at him and so he became very very paranoid. It wasnt untill later that his friend told him that people werent looking at him but at Freddie Mercury and his entourage in the next booth. |

That's really cool. I'd love to meet them, haven't had the opportunity yet though. And even if I did get the chance, I'd probably do something really embarassing, so I guess it's all for the best if we never cross paths. |

Although I'd like to meet them more than anything else in this world, I probably couldn't talk, or would just burst into tears because I'd be too happy and too excited to do anything else.. Except maybe babbling some non articulated sounds. |

Meh, the closest I got to even meeting Brian was about 4 e-mails I've received from him (two personally, two public) I've met Fefe Dobson though, on a related subject. I have a photo of me with my arm around her, and she auto'd my copy of her first album (first edition too, not the current edition with "Don't Go (Boys And Girls)" - that last one looks like the back cover was poorly printed, sadly - I'd rather buy the single instead, because it has a b-side that is only available otherwise on one of the UK editions of her album) One of these days I'm going to post the photo, once I can get my computer working again and get a proper scan. |

<<...one dump...one turd...two tits...John Deacon... ...one prawn...one shrimp...one clam...one chicken!>> That's the adlib that Freddie was doing during the making of One Vision. Although I still think it's one dump...one turd...to fit...John Deacon but under the guidance of one of the old Seers on this board it was changed to 'two tits'...'John Deacon'. |

i met Brian on his tour of Australia in 1998, I had a photo with him and he signed a few things for me, pretty cool guy and tall, i think i pissed him off a bit as he left into the hotel after our photo i shouted to him, (next time bring john and roger with you) he turned around and said to me why would i want to do that for. He said it in a way which didn't seem nice but maybe that was a wrong perception from me. |
Joma 01.09.2004 08:33 |
I met Brian in 1993 an got an autograph on my jacket (never worn or washed it since). My god, he IS tall, I'm 6'4'' and he was right up on me (wearing clogs though). Met him again in 1998. He is really the nicest of all. Met Roger in 1994 but only brief. I passed Freddie's house in London twice in 1990 and 1991. I just didn't know he was living there. One of the biggest shames in my life!!! |

A couple of times, there's some nice pic on my site. I do hope I have more time to update it and add some very funny anectodes, as well as a very lenghty interview I had with Roger 5 years ago. One day soon I will, promise! Strangest thing is that, being now a professional musician, I've recently had the honour to work with Miriam Stokley (former Briaan May Band backing vocalist and voice on the MIH album in Let me live) but it didn't come to my mind to ask her about some anectode...I'm becoming a serious worker, I'm afraid! :) I'll definetely ask her next time, I hope soon! |

Ive not met all of Queen, but I have met Brian - three or four times, and of course the big thrill for me was when I met Freddie. I met him outside the Queen Productions/Queen fanclub offices in Pembridge Road in London. I was going round to visit Jacky at the fanclub and there was Freddie coming out of the building. He was really nice and signed my ANATO and Queen II albums for me. I met Brian for the first time actually in the fanclub offices, and he was as nice then as he was every time since. Met him again here in Perth in 98 on the Another World tour. Even got to interview him for my website at the time. A genuinely nice guy. Still havent met John or Roger... but you never know :) Steve |

I met Roger in Edinburgh three years ago at an SAS Band gig, got a photo with him, before he jumped on the bus. Also met hinm in Glasgow on the Happiness and Electric fire tours. he just jumped into his wee bus on the happiness tour but on the EF tour he stayed and chatted for a while. Talked to him about where to get a good pint of beer in Glasgow at the time it was funny enough. Met Brian three times, twice in Glasgow, after gigs and once at the fan club office. Always very friendly. Where Roger can be a bit strange sometimes. |

Roger... He can be aloof and I sometimes wonder if he has trouble with his hearing? I suppose when you've been playing in one Of The Worlds Greatest Bands most of your life and slamming those Drum Skins and Brian's Red Special screaming into your Ears it would send you Slightly Mad !! link |

Oberon62AU, from your post I assume your website was (the sorely missed) JazzWeb. Actually, through JazzWeb I found this notice board. I remember your interview with Brian well, it was funny and cool. Mainly the parts when he did not remember Silver Salmon and claimed that Freddie never recorded Polar Bear. I wonder if you can donate the interview to the Queenzone library. |

I met Roger when he promoted "New dark Ages" with The Cross on a german TV-Show in Cologne in 1991. It was a boring Open-Air-Summer-Show with stupid games and crap guests except for one of course - so we were sitting there just waiting for the guy with the sunglasses. Just about 3 Minutes before they entered the stage they appeared right beside it, and we jumped off our seats and stormed right through to the stageside. People seemed to be quite disturbed but we didnt care. Rog was superfriendly and was pretty stunned that we wore The Cross-instead of Queen-T-Shirts, his first words were "Ah, Cross-Fans. Nice !" He had to sign my Innuendo-Calendar, though... :-) We had a little talk and then they had to go on stage. Spike also said a few nice words and they all seemed to be pretty delighted that a few fans were there... considering the record sales I can understand that... ;-) Will never forget these 3 minutes - what a nice bloke, our Rog ! |

Sadly,I've never had the chance to meet Freddie,it only happened in my dreams :-( by the way,I really dreamed of him twice in my life and he was performing live but that's another story :-) I saw and met both Brian and Roger twice in my life.Pity that John has retired! -The first time was in Venice in August 1996,the 28th if I remember correctly, for the "Made in Heaven-The Films" world premiere and that night there was Robert De Niro too, that's maybe where they get in touch to discuss the future WWRY musical!First I saw Roger alone sightseeing in the Venice laguna,I'm pretty sure that was he. Then I saw them on the catwalk of the "Mostra del Cinema di Venezia"and I took few photograps very nearly but, most of all, believe me or not,I saw these films in the theather for the duration of 50 mins approx next to Jim Beach,Brian and Roger themselves!!! They attended the show mixed to common people and this give you the right measure of how kind and unique they are... The most intense musical experience in my whole life! I'm still in shock when I think about it -The second time was last year in May in a proper concert for the Pavarotti and friends in Modena and was the most mind blowing experience I ever witnessed!!! Then we saluted them when they left the arena concert Yes,I know,I'm a lucky bastard :-) |

In 1998, a radiostation here in Germany ran a competition to SING the guitar solo for Bohemian Rhapsody. The 5 lucky winners would recieve a PRIVATE GUITAR LESSON from Brian the next day!! Well, I was one of them...... I was extremely nervous being the first in the row...but Brian was, as always, incredibly nice and gentle. He played We Will Rock You on my guitar, and showed me a few of his licks for See What A Fool I've Been. After 45 minutes it was all over... Although the radiostation's spokeswoman got seriously hysterical (there was a press-conference about to begin), Brian took extra time to chat with us, sign our stuff, have pictures taken. such a nice guy!! this has all been documented on pictures and video!! :) i met him again in 1998 at a gig. he actually did remember me, but there was such a crowd so we just said hello and shook hands. |

I met Brian twice. Once when he was doing his promotional tour for Innuendo in North America. I waited outside MuchMusic studios in Toronto with a few other fans. They were nice enough to lift the blinds and put the outside speakers on so we could watch the interview live (you can actually see me in the background on a lot of the shots). Afterwards he came out and signed autographs and chit-chatted a bit with the fans. The second time was backstage in Montreal on his Back to the Light tour. I got a couple of photos but I didn't get an autograph since I already had one (I hate bugging for autographs). He was very nice and accommodating. My best "meeting a celeb" story was meeting Sir Bob Geldof after a show. He was in pretty good spirits but clearly doesn't suffer idiots. He called one fan a "wanker" and told another to "fuck off". He was joking about it, but that's his way of saying back off when fans start getting too maudlin. |

I still remember my brief conversation with Brian in 1993 before his Detroit show: Me: "I was about this tall [holding my hand by my rib cage] when I bought my first Queen album." Brian: "You make me feel old." Me: "As they say, 'You can only be young once, but you can be immature forever.'" Brian: (Laughs.) "Yes, definitely!" I like to think that I helped put him at ease with our banter. |

I met Brian twice, both times in 1998... first time was a special "Another world"-release party as a competition prize that was held in a number of european countries. It took place in Planet Hollywood in London with a number of fans and some EMI-wanna-be-hot-shots.... we had a nice time, Brian was there for about an hour and a half, signing stuff, posing for pictures and making small talk. Second time was backstage in Groningen (2nd dutch Another-World-tour concert)... where he signed the picture that was taken of the two of us London. |
