I think it is so gorgeous. It creeps me out a little and is beautiful at the same time. Also, quite haunting I should say...lol |
FriedChicken 27.08.2006 17:50 |
it's about Aids and homosexuality in general |
Pim Derks 27.08.2006 17:51 |
'Sweet mother love' means 'smooth anal entrance' in gay slang. |
FriedChicken 27.08.2006 17:57 |
"I don't want to sleep with you I don't need the passion too I don't want a stormy affair " The person who this song is about is a homosexual male infected with Hiv Aids. (Possibly Freddie) He sings in this verse that he is too sick and fragile to have sex with his boyfriend. "All I want is the comfort and care Just to know that my woman gives me sweet mother love" He doesn't want sex, but he does want that his woman (= boyfriend in gay world) brings him to the toilet and feeds him pieces of mango. "I've walked too long in this lonely lane I've had enough of this same old game" He sings that he has been lonely for a long time, and that he's sick of it. "I'm a man of the world and they say that I'm strong But my heart is heavy, and my hope is gone" with man of the world he means that he was a very famous person. And people thought he was strong. But in the next sentence he says he is not strong. And that he doesn't have any hope left because he's dying from Aids. "My body's aching, but I can't sleep My dreams are all the company I keep" His body hurts from the Aids virus destroying his body from the inside (see: Fight from the Inside for other Aids related lyrics) He doesn't have any real friends, so his dreams are the only things he has left. "Got such a feeling as the sun goes down I'm coming home to my sweet mother love" When the night falls he is scared because he may not live to see the dawn. And he has a feeling he's going to die ("coming home") |

SHUT UP!! YOU'RE SAYING STUPID THINGS!! NOBODY KNOWS WHAT IT'S ABOUT, AND THAT'S ALL!! |

Well, this is the last song Freddie ever sang. I think it´s about... how can i say? the lyrics in some way show that the person that is referring is regretful about all he did, that´s why, in my opinion, the song is called mother love, beacause he would only find confort with the love of his mother and nobody else ("all i want is the confort and care... just to know that my woman (mother) gives sweet...). Of course there will be millions of interpretations but this is how i see it. farewell!! |

Besides (Fried Chicken), have you even considered the fact that the whole song could be metaphorical in which only Freddie knows what it really means? |

I will listen to the song to find out my interpritation, but from what the lyrics say, I think it's a song about him being very lonely and he just wants someone to love. That could be it. I read in a book that mother love was Mary. |
deleted user 27.08.2006 23:00 |
that definitely lines up with what other people, including mary herself, have said about mary "protecting" freddie. |

FRIED CHIKEN.....is it necesary to say all those fucking insane disgusting annoying stupid things???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? |
mircal 28.08.2006 00:29 |
Do you people actually think the song is about all the homo sexuall rubish!!! ???? Seriously,,, the song is much deeper than that. Its a reflection of freddie at that time. Its about him dying. Mother love... The man is getting closer to his time, he doesnt want anything apart form a mothers lover. Listen to the end of the song, when it goes from ones vision to "going back" to a baby voices. Seriously folkes, the song is not about being gar or anything like that. So song is deep in mood, it doesnt need to be placed under a magnifying glass in interepretted as something that its not. Each line says what it says. I dont want a stormy affair.. why not?? Its not going to make me feel like im going to get any where... |
FreeSpirit328 28.08.2006 00:33 |
Personally I think it has a lot of spiritual meaning to it. Now I read this when I was reading about the Zoroastrian faith (not when I was reading about that supposed woman who claimed to have talked to Freddie's ghost). "mother" means the wife of Zorester. I think when he says "I'm going home to my sweet mother love," he's saying he knows the end of his life is very near. He's saying goodbye. As far as the other lyrics, well, they might be referring to his mother or Mary, or maybe the spiritual thing again, I don't know. It's just my thoughts, I could be very wrong. I really do think Freddie was the only one who really knew what he was singing about. |
dtucra 28.08.2006 03:20 |
In my opinion it's the most explicit song Freddie has ever written. It means exactly what he says: he's had enough of the fame thing, he's tired and ill, doesn't need to fool around anymore, he just needs comfort and peace, if possible without hurting the others too much. And the most secure place for him now, when he is torn apart and in tremendous physical and moral pain, seems to be back in his mother's arms, as a baby. You can hear the baby, the waves, the seagulls; Zanzibar beach. It's obvious to me, it hit me when I first listened to it, broke my heart and bursted into bitter tears. Ecce homo! ("Here's the man!"). He was not hiding or pretending anymore. He's bare naked, frail and sad. He begs for love and peace. It still hurts me after all these years. |

You can always ask Brian what it means. I mean, he did write the lyrics. |

The Fairy King 28.08.2006 06:48 |
Oh come on Niek!! Mother Love is about incest and not about homosexuality. Freddie had an affair with his mom till he met Mary. Everybody knows that. |
dtucra 28.08.2006 06:57 |
Yeah, funny!*rolling eyes* If Brian wrote the lyrics from head to bottom, he should have suicided by now. "I long for peace before I die.". Come oon! |
zaiga 28.08.2006 07:11 |
Brain wrote both the music and the lyrics to this song. You people never read his soapbox? Between all this rubbish about orbs, planets and stereo images there sometimes *is* a nugget of wisdom to be found there, you know. |
Adam Baboolal 28.08.2006 07:41 |
Yes, unfortunately people can't listen to the truth. Just because Brian says he wrote the song, people still think it's Freddie. How could Brian write it with those meaningful lyrics, indeed! lol Peace, Adam. |
FriedChicken 28.08.2006 08:38 |
Same with the Bohrap solo. People think Brian is lying when he says he wrote it. Because they always believed Freddie wrote every single bit of the song.. |
dtucra 28.08.2006 08:45 |
If Brian wrote it all, why is it credited to both of them, even on this site? As about the Bo Rhap guitar solo (if that's what you mean), on the DVD of GH1 Brian says that Freddie actually conceived it, too, the riff and all. He gave him the freedom to intervene, but it was Freddie who composed it. But in the end we'll find out that Brian did about everything and Freddie just tried to sing. Maybe not so well after all. |
zaiga 28.08.2006 08:52 |
dtucra wrote: If Brian wrote it all, why is it credited to both of them, even on this site?Possibly because Brian felt that Freddies contribution to the lyrics was great enough to warrant inclusion in the credits. There's no magic formula for this, you know. As about the Bo Rhap guitar solo (if that's what you mean), on the DVD of GH1 Brian says that Freddie actually conceived it, too, the riff and all. He gave him the freedom to intervene, but it was Freddie who composed it.The hardrcok riff is not the same as the solo. But in the end we'll find out that Brian did about everything and Freddie just tried to sing. Maybe not so well after all.Bollocks. You're being a drama queen. I'm interested in facts. If people say that Freddie wrote TSMGO and TATDOOL then I'll tell them they are wrong. If people say Brian wrote Bijou are Hitman then I'll tell them they are wrong too. |
dtucra 28.08.2006 11:13 |
ok, maybe I'm taking it too much to heart, but if Freddie's contribution to the lyrics was big enough to warrant the credits, what are we talking about? Moral contribution or factual one? |
