Whatever you may think about Guns and Roses, nobody can deny that november rain is a very long song.
BUT
About half way through the video, just as aforementioned rain starts, a bloke leaps through a wedding cake.
Does anyone know WHY???
We've been racking our brains for months, but we can't think why he's done it.
Have you never heard of the half time 'wedding cake jump'? Man, you've never been to a wedding until you've seen one of them. They rock.
In other words I don't know.
Well the only part I have ever bothered to remember is that bloke with the hat (Slash?) playing a wicked solo outside the church. Then he gets eaten by Dracula.
You've obviously never been inside a cake.
It makes sense that this chap needed to get out after a while. Things can get rather hairy by all accounts. It's the marzipan, I reckon.
Cracking song though.
Possibly... it... symbolises... things falling apart? Or maybe G n' R were just completely lacking in a sense of their own ridiculousness at that point (if you think the NR vid is daft, just wait until you see the Estrnaged video (musically superior, but cursed with a vid that is frankly very silly).
Erg. I LOVE the November Rain song (well, after a bit of playing it over and over) but the video is like... no. Without the video, the song is powerful. Actually, I take that back. Slash kicks ass in any video he's in so it's okay.
Maybe I'm pro-Slash.
The baby at the end of "Don't Cry" is really ugly. I'm sorry, it was just not a cute baby. I'm not in a good mood at all, I'll post about it. :(
The video is based on a short story called "Without You", which can be seen at the end of the video.
I've never read it, but perhaps if you read it you will understand the video better. I haven't but if I do I'll probably picture the video in a better way.

The full text of the 'Without you' short story can be found here: link
It was written by Del James (journalist, one time G n'R video director and friend of Axl's from their younger days in Indiana) and was part of a collection of short stoires called 'the language of fear'. Incidently, 'Without you' was Axl's working title for 'Estranged'.
Though the main charachter is clearly based on Axl, you still won;t find an explanation for the the cake-o jump-o incident, though.
The only part of that video that sticks in the mind for me is - oddly - the bit where Slash realises he doesn't have the ring, and a many-ringed bandmate has to provide him with a substitute.
