Has anyone downloaded the files in the new "Stage Of The Champions" section on Queenzone? I have to say I am impressed by the quality of the fan covers. Richard will upload a new song each week, so we will get more interesting recordings. After all the frustrating and negative topics in recent months the fan recordings are fun to get and to listen to. |
Togg 02.03.2004 11:46 |
Pretty good the guys should be proud of those, they have put a lot of work in, well done. |
FriedChicken 02.03.2004 12:05 |
Barb, I quit the recording of The Night Comes Down, but I'm working on Someday One Day, and it's almost finished! |
MexQueenFM 02.03.2004 12:22 |
I like Adam's A Winter Tale |
The Fairy King 02.03.2004 12:22 |
excellent instrumental of Misfire Niek! BRAVO! and for the A Winter's Tale track....uuhm i don't think it's any good sorry =) |
FriedChicken 02.03.2004 12:30 |
The guitars in the end are fucked up!, and it was supposed to fade out |
Richard Orchard 02.03.2004 12:45 |
I think they are all fantastic. I am totally blown away by how good they are. |
Penis - Vagina 02.03.2004 13:10 |
Fried Chicken, I was wondering where the back and forth echoey side to side guitar thing was at the end.. it's kind of a trademark of the song, but otherwise, I like it a lot :) It's nice to see fans who may not have the talent to create magnificent edits at least being creative in some way. ;) |
Sebastian 02.03.2004 13:16 |
I haven't listened to Niek's recording yet but I must say I'm very impressed by Adam's Winter's Tale. I like it way more than the original version |
Sebastian 02.03.2004 13:19 |
Nice Misfire too. Why don't you record vocals too? |
johnnymegabyte 02.03.2004 13:28 |
Is there an archive page ??? Is there only these two songs ? |
YourValentine 02.03.2004 13:33 |
I agree - A Winter's Tale is fantastic. Queen songs are sure hard to play and even more to sing and Adam really does the song justice. Niek, I am looking forward to your next song, I am sure it's good :-) |
FriedChicken 02.03.2004 13:36 |
"Fried Chicken, I was wondering where the back and forth echoey side to side guitar thing was at the end.. it's kind of a trademark of the song, but otherwise, I like it a lot :)" Thats because it's not finished yet, I want to complete it someday, and re-record the messed up guitar parts in the end. As for the vocals...i'm not a singer, But ill do a demo for Someday one day, and maybe i'll decide it's good enough to put online |
FriedChicken 02.03.2004 13:37 |
Adam> I love A Winters Tale, you're a great singer Got more? |
Plengel 02.03.2004 13:46 |
Niek, you still haven't fixed the guitars at the end of "Misfire", you lazy bastard!!!! Well, I also haven't recorded the vocals for it..... :S Btw, how's "Leaving Home Ain't Easy" going? As for more tracks of Adam; didn't he also record "My Life Has Been Saved"? |
inu-liger 02.03.2004 13:52 |
He did. I liked it myself |
Sebastian 02.03.2004 14:17 |
> As for the vocals...i'm not a singer Brian isn't a harpist but he played in 'Love Of My Life'. I'm not a drummer but I've recorded drums many times. You shall give it a try, specially if you have a larger range than Freddie. You can make like 16 part harmonies by yourself |
FriedChicken 02.03.2004 14:19 |
"Brian isn't a harpist but he played in 'Love Of My Life'. I'm not a drummer but I've recorded drums many times. You shall give it a try, specially if you have a larger range than Freddie. You can make like 16 part harmonies by yourself" With i'm not a singer i meant, my voice sounds horrible, although Brian isn't a harpist, the harp sounds good. I think my voice only sounds good when i make huge choirs. But ill do my best! |
Whisperer 02.03.2004 14:39 |
The only one I've listened so far is Adam's song. AMAZING!!! I like it almost as much as the version with Freddie and that says a lot. |
Daburcor? 02.03.2004 16:06 |
HOLY CRAP! You guys are great! DO SOME MORE!!! :D |
ilizarov 02.03.2004 17:35 |
Adam Baboolal, I am amazed. Brilliant stuff, I wish I could sing like that. |
MexQueenFM 02.03.2004 17:44 |
great Niek! it souds really good! and I wish I could sing like Adam too :( :) |
ilizarov 02.03.2004 17:48 |
And I will make a point to listen to Niek's misfire tomorrow! Niek is another talented person so i'm sure itll be very good! |
Mayboy 02.03.2004 17:50 |
Just listened to both, great work guys!! :D keep em coming |
FriedChicken 03.03.2004 07:33 |
Who will be the next featured artist? |
FriedChicken 03.03.2004 08:14 |
Bohemian Rhapsody played on spoons |
FriedChicken 03.03.2004 08:23 |
ah :( i'm always interested in hearing new things |
iGSM 03.03.2004 08:53 |
I wrote and performed Bohemian Rhapsody in 1970..but then Freddie nicked it while I was asleep and now it's a hit. I some times thing I could do a mean version of Another One Bites the Dust...except that I can't play bass/guitar/drums/sing..but they're minor details. |
Mayboy 03.03.2004 09:53 |
LOL Barry id love to hear that :D |
Sebastian 03.03.2004 12:50 |
I really wish my Bohemian Rhapsody is next, or pretty soon at least :) |
Plengel 03.03.2004 13:34 |
Hey Niek, maybe we can do something together on our "rietjes", I'd really like to learn from the master :D ;) |
FriedChicken 03.03.2004 17:45 |
sure! Did I send you my Rietjes Blues yet? |
AndresGuazzelli 03.03.2004 23:13 |
I'm almost done with my 'All God's People' version... i think i will finish it around next week... so i'll hope it will be available in two weeks around :D |
Daburcor? 03.03.2004 23:27 |
That sounds cool! :D |
The Real Wizard 04.03.2004 12:00 |
My version of the Brighton Rock solo has been sent to the good folks in charge here, and soon it will be up for download, I hope. |
Penis - Vagina 04.03.2004 12:08 |
Does anybody know who did a version of 'Procession'? I have it downloaded from January 14, a 128 kbps file with no ID tag. I have a feeling I got it through QOL somehow, although they don't allow sound files to be linked so I could be wrong. |
YourValentine 04.03.2004 12:17 |
Perhaps you have it from musichall.cz link |
Penis - Vagina 04.03.2004 12:25 |
Nope.. that's a totally different file and much worse performance (no offense to 'Croqui') :-P |
johnnymegabyte 04.03.2004 12:27 |
How does one get on the STAGE OF CHAMPIONS ??? I have a friend that would like to contribute. Are there more than the two songs on the main page ? |
Hitman 04.03.2004 12:43 |
Congratulations to Niek and Adam also from me!!!You're talented!I'll contribute someday, too.... ;) |
YourValentine 04.03.2004 14:54 |
There was a version of "procession" by Philipp Nothaft and there is one by Niek if I am not mistaken but I don't know where you downloaded. johnnymegabyte, send a message to queen@thinkingwebsites.com.au concerning the song you want to submit |
Adam Baboolal 04.03.2004 16:49 |
Thankyou for the kind words folks. I was a little apprehensive because it was made up of a 1998/99 demo that I pieced together in 2001 with a new vocal. I only started playing music in 1997! But it has been on the web for a while, so what the heck. Btw Fried, I really like your guitar work, dude! How did you record it? Oh and I'll see what else I have coverswise. You know, there was a thread about my stuff ages ago and it's disappeared. It wasn't that long ago. Peace, Adam. |
Sebastian 04.03.2004 17:15 |
There's also a version of 'Procession' by me, so no idea which one do you have |
ilizarov 04.03.2004 17:22 |
I have just listened to Niek's track, brilliant stuff Niek! |
FriedChicken 05.03.2004 03:26 |
Thanks dude! |
YourValentine 09.03.2004 07:53 |
There is a new song online, it's One Year of Love, enjoy:) |
Richard Orchard 09.03.2004 10:40 |
just to let people know, the response to the fan songs has been huge. WE have had over 2GB of downloads for the tracks in the past 7 days. |
Adam Baboolal 09.03.2004 20:10 |
Nice! See? I always thought that we should've kept the musician's forum alive. That forum was around a LONG time ago. It was such a shame that it had to go. And I'm glad that Queenzone became THE board to chat and leave messages. Thanks R. Adam. |
Saffron Caribou 09.03.2004 22:17 |
Although I don't have speakers in order to listen to these fan creations, I must say that I'm proud of you guys for giving the old tunes new life. Hehehe one day I'll hear them. |
RainMustFall 10.03.2004 22:23 |
More, more, more! Great job so far, especially Adam--for a few seconds, I thought I was listening to the original AWT...! |
Hank H. 11.03.2004 06:15 |
"There was a version of "procession" by Philipp Nothaft and there is one by Niek if I am not mistaken but I don't know where you downloaded." Philipp Nothaft... I wonder where he has gone? |
Adam Baboolal 15.03.2004 18:49 |
Hey, I was expecting another featured cover track today. Has the river run dry already?? lol If you're short of some tracks, I'll check my archives! Peace, Adam. |
LiveAidQueen 15.03.2004 19:00 |
Niek is always good. :)) |
FriedChicken 15.03.2004 19:19 |
*blush* |
LiveAidQueen 16.03.2004 17:29 |
Misfire was really good, I am very impressed... |
FriedChicken 17.03.2004 17:42 |
You should hear Someday One Day, i think it's much better |
YourValentine 17.03.2004 18:13 |
Well, submit it, Niek:) To Adam: we have more songs but the demand is high, so Richard only uploads one song per week but please send us more:)) |
FriedChicken 17.03.2004 18:31 |
It's almost finished Barbara, I'm still trying to record the vocal choirs (eventhough I hate my singing!!) And I still have to finish the final guitar solo. But I hardly found time these few weeks to work on it :( |
RMT 17.03.2004 18:49 |
When I finally complete them I'll forward on my stuff. I've got a pretty cool Hammer To Fall but I haven't finished doing the lead guitar track or the lead vocals yet. I have several others but I'd have to sort them out before I pass them on! |
deleted user 17.03.2004 18:51 |
I will be uploading April Lady in a few days too :) Don't worry Niek, I'll send it to you first! |
FriedChicken 17.03.2004 20:01 |
Matt do you still use MSN? Or ICQ? |
deleted user 17.03.2004 21:00 |
Yes Niek, MSN. Add me to your list. silversalmon1@hotmail.com |
Richard Orchard 17.03.2004 22:16 |
I have just uploaded guitar heroes Brighton Rock Solo. I was thinking, maybe, when we have released enough songs, we could release a "Queenzone Album". All the songs for download at once - maybe in a high quality format (not MP3). We could create artwork for the CD, and get some notes from the singers / musicians themselves. |
Adam Baboolal 17.03.2004 23:37 |
Wow, I like your enthusiasm! That would be a nice thing to do in the not to distant future. Adam. P.S. I'll catch the new track tomorrow. |
Virtuoso 18.03.2004 01:10 |
Nice job Bob!!Your interpretation of Brighton Rock motivated me to(maybe)try one of my own.I'll try to find time, well lately it's been harsh(College and I have barelly 2 hours of pratice a day!!),I'll see.Anyways, that was cool man! |
YourValentine 18.03.2004 09:45 |
The Brighton Rock solo is just awesome. |
Another Roger (re) 18.03.2004 10:16 |
Brighton Rock by Guitar Hero is absolutely impressive!! Congratulations. How did you record it? |
Adam Baboolal 18.03.2004 11:10 |
Yeah, that was excellent work there! My only advice would be to tame the high-end of the sound. The top was too high. Cut 2db of 3kHz and 3db of 12kHz. This only applies for when you record the sound cause I'm not going to tell you to change how you put it through your amp etc. Apart from that, it was most excellent! Peace, Adam. |
The Real Wizard 18.03.2004 16:35 |
Thanks all for your kind words. :) I recorded it with ProTools and a half decent mic. It has a digital delay option, so I set one channel to 0.7 seconds, and the other to 1.4 seconds. Worked like a charm. The playing itself was done in one take. There are a few things in there I would like to have done a bit cleaner, but I see it as being raw, honest, and just me doing my best to emulate Brian May for four and half minutes. Glad you all liked it. I've considered EQing it as Adam has pointed out, so maybe I will do that one day. Thanks for the advice. |
Big Black 18.03.2004 16:38 |
Bob, well done! You live up to your nickname, do you play in a band? If so where and when do you play? |
Daburcor? 18.03.2004 16:41 |
That's a cool idea Richard! :D |
The Real Wizard 18.03.2004 16:42 |
Thanks BB. :) I'm actually not in a band right now. Finding the right musicians has been a near impossible task for me. I'm very influenced by classical music, rock, and progressive rock, and my goal is to find musicians at a similar level who are willing to create great music with those tools. I've found a bassist, and now it's time for a drummer, vocalist, and keyboardist. As for me calling myself "Guitar Hero"... I don't consider myself as a hero of any kind. I just play what I love to play; "make my noise", as BHM puts it. Those who know me best know that I see myself as being far from a hero, and so the name is really a condradiction. I'm a guy of paradoxes at times, and this is no different. :) I am definitely in favour of Richard's cd idea, but I would like to ensure an EQ'd version of my piece would be the one to make the final cut. |
deleted user 18.03.2004 16:46 |
I've just finished with mine. What do I do with it now? |
Sebastian 18.03.2004 17:14 |
Awesome work Guitar Hero. You make honour to your nickname |
The Real Wizard 18.03.2004 23:34 |
Thanks, Sebastian! You folks are too good to me. Adam, I said I'd try EQing the wave file "one day", but I got too curious and had to do it tonight! It turned out great. I'll be sure to send this version to Richard when he compiles the cd. Again, thanks for the advice. :) |
Richard Orchard 19.03.2004 00:13 |
hi, just contact queen@thinkingwebsites.com.au about submitting material. Richard |
goinback 19.03.2004 03:59 |
Any chance of putting videos on this site? I made a special edit of the "No One But You" video last November for World AIDS Day that has more Freddie footage...it's about 45 megs though. (It's floating around the hub, or people can download it from me on there under the name "emeraldbar".) |
Richard Orchard 19.03.2004 04:18 |
videos are a bit tricky. Firstly for size, but also for copywrite stuff. i know varous things posted on the site make this a bit hypocritical... But it is a tricky balancing act in order to not get "in trouble". At the moment we are just concentrating of fan versions where they play the instruments, sing the songs. |
