Hi, I was thinking today, does anybody really care about Aids? I mean, who gives a Sh*t about those africans, you people say you care, but you dont really, your just happy cos your getting your hands on new Queen songs cos of these africans. You wouldnt have even watched the 46664 thing if it didnt feature Queen. You dont even pay for the downloads, you just get them on kazza and all that, so theres no point of that concert really cos all you want is new songs and you dont give 2 fucks about Aids. Just cos Freddie died of Aids, you pretend to care and you listen to every news clip and docu. of Aids just to see if they mention the words "Freddie mercury" and then maybe they'll play a clip of a Queen song like. Come on, be honest, You dont care. |

DudleyPufkin, fuck off. You're more fucked than I am (plus you're as fat as Dudley Dursley) |

Where I worked there was an Aids sufferer, it's Horrible what that poor Love went through! |
inu-liger 11.12.2003 13:55 |
And Dudley, there would have been no way that Queen wouldn't have been involved in 46664 - they funded most of it basically, the concert and stuff, so it's impossible. And even still, lotsa people would've went to see the other big stars at the concert anyways, who ironically are getting more press than Queen are |

"You're more fucked than I am (plus you're as fat as Dudley Dursley)" Wow, slow down! Don't say things you can't take back |

Well, that's my opinion on him. And I don't like him. If he goes crying to his momma, that's not my problem, is it? ;( |
Whisperer 11.12.2003 15:01 |
DudleyFufkin, there's so much true in your post. Especially that part about watching an AIDS report only because you wonder if Freddie going to be mentioned. I confess, I'm pretty much everything that you mention. We should care more, but you know, most people have lots of problems themselves, they don't have time to care for other peoples problems. |
MexQueenFM 11.12.2003 15:28 |
It is true, I don't do anything about Aids, i just did till now that Queen are doing it, sad but true |
FallingHammer 11.12.2003 15:52 |
While our poster here was quite blunt and rude about going about saying so, he does have a point. I know this concert (which I watched because it had Queen in it) motivated me to try and do something about the AIDS problem in Africa, and everywhere else. Maybe it was more of a motivator and a source of information for us Queen fans... |
Flashman 11.12.2003 16:05 |
Whilst Aids is clearly a terrible disease (don't mean to be flippant), exactly how many millions of dollars does it cost to tell folk to 'Stick a Johnny on it' before striding your mount for a good gallop? It can't be that expensive. |
deleted user 11.12.2003 16:11 |
Right Flashman. On NPR recently, they said that AIDS was up alarmingly in the past year, opposed to it being down for the past 10. The contributed this to the homosexual population first, bi-sexual men second, and drug users and then blacks. The gay population is being very lax in what they do, and in preventitive measures. While the drug users, are, well, drug users. The most disturbing part of it for me was when they said the inner cities just don't have the knowledge that the rest of us do. I think that is complete shit if you ask me. |

54% The percentage of the estimated 43,000 annual U.S. HIV infections occurring among African-Americans More than 75% The percentage of HIV-positive adults in a New Orleans study who do not reveal their HIV status to casual sex partners One every 14 seconds The rate at which young people worldwide are infected with HIV New HIV diagnoses were up 26% among Latinos, 8% among whites, and 17% among gay men of any race. "We have to raise the possibility that this could be indicating a resurgence of HIV in that [gay male] population," says Ronald Valdiserri, the CDC's deputy director of HIV prevention. By 2010, the report said, about 20 million African children will have lost one or both parents to AIDS. In countries worst hit--such as Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Zimbabwe--more than one in five children will be orphans by 2010, 80% of them because of AIDS. Even in countries where HIV prevalence has been stabilized or lowered, such as Uganda, the orphan crisis will grow as already infected parents die. While the Indian government reports that about 4 million people have HIV disease, most aid agencies say the figure is much higher. The Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington has estimated India will have 25 million cases by 2010 Half of hospital beds in the Democratic Republic of Congo are occupied by people with HIV/AIDS, the United nations secretary-general's special representative to the country said December Iran has 5,780 registered cases of HIV, including 700 AIDS cases and 634 deaths, a health ministry official said in newspaper reports published on World AIDS Day. However, several experts said in the same reports that the real figure was 30,000 to 40,000 cases. The official said that 95% of the registered cases were men, while 63% were injection drug users An estimated 1 million people ages 15-49 have HIV in Russia. A Moscow survey of boys ages 15-18 cited in the U.N. report found that 12% had used injection drugs. In St. Petersburg 30% of drug users were male teenagers. And while females made up 24% of new HIV diagnoses in 2001, they represented 33% in 2002. Consequently, there was a sharp rise in mother-to-baby transmission. HIV epidemics continue spreading in Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. "Driving these epidemics is widespread risky behavior--injecting drug use and unsafe sex--among young people," the report says. Nationwide, African-Americans have contracted HIV faster than Latinos or whites. But from 2001 to 2002 in Texas, HIV spread faster among Latinos than black Americans. Texas recorded 1,033 new HIV cases among Latinos in 2002--up 25% from the year before. Between 1999 and 2002 state HIV cases among Latinas rose 63%, from 126 to 205 cases. And because many HIV cases among Latinas go undiagnosed, experts say the numbers may just be a sign of things to come. The chief of the Asia and Pacific AIDS Society said Tuesday that HIV looms as a greater long-term security threat to the Asia-Pacific region than global terrorism, with infections throughout Asia set to outstrip those in Africa within a decade. "We have already seen in Africa that once HIV starts affecting a lot of people, you get the beginnings of a societal collapse because the people who get sick are disproportionately in those age groups societies depend on to keep them going," said Dennis Altman, society president and a La Trobe University politics professor. Regional statistics are sketchy, he said, but HIV has already infected millions in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, China, and India, and it is expected to kill 10,000 Cambodians each year for the next 10 years. and there you have it...... |

I must admit that I was in that position. I watched everything AIDS related due to Freddie dying, but then in 1993 a friend of mine told me he was infected and died in 1994 so since then its been pretty high on my agendas. Ive donated and always wear my red ribbon with pride...the same one I was given at the Freddie Tribute I hasten to add! wow a 12 year old ribbon..how mad??? lol |
MissMercury 12.12.2003 08:20 |
my best friend died of AIDS. It's better to listen everything they say about AIDS just to see if Freddie will be mentioned than not to listen to the warnings at all. He was always making fun of me because i tried to hear freddies name and he wouldn't listen. he knew nothing about AIDS, until his girlfriend told him she was infected. He died a year later. it's important to educate yourself, and even if you do it just to hear a Queen song, it's ok. just be carefu |
Krizzy 12.12.2003 09:22 |
YOU HAD BETTER CARE BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T CARE NOW...YOU'LL BE A STATISTIC LATER! I lost many many friends and two family members over the years to AIDS even with the supposed cocktails of drugs they took to maintain their health and status quo. I have three good friends fighting the disease right now, one is losing the battle very slowly. AND IF YOU THINK IT CANNOT AFFECT YOU and YOU'RE A 20-40 year old who is sexually active YOU HAD BETTER THINK AGAIN! I DO CARE AND WILL CARE AND WILL DO ANYTHING IN MY POWER TO FIGHT AIDS UNTIL THERE IS A CURE!!! Kriz ;^( |
Guy 12.12.2003 09:31 |
"I wish people would fucking stop worrying about Cancer and find a damn cure for AIDS instead! (didn't mean to offend anyone there) but its about time we did something! it's a world-wide problem, if you ask me." And cancer isn't a world wide problem? True, cancer can't spread by infections, but there's still no cure for it. I find it important to find cure for both diseases and not say "They should find a cure for this one first, and then for the other one". |
Brandon 12.12.2003 10:21 |
You, Kate Mercury, are an idiot. |
deleted user 12.12.2003 10:38 |
yeah go ahead and think that of me... i dont care what you or anyone thinks of me, but i do care for those who die of diseases and other health problems. "And cancer isn't a world wide problem?" i never said it wasn't... |
Penetration_Guru 12.12.2003 11:05 |
Krizzy, IF I didn't care (although in fact I do), the odds on me becomiing an AIDS statistic are extremely slim, as going by IE's post, white monogamous heterosexual non drug using men appear to be the safest group on the planet. Incidentally, I'm not sure why being white or of African origin makes a difference once we're discussing a first world nation like the US, but I bet it would be a tricky discussion to have in any kind of public arena. |
Krizzy 12.12.2003 11:15 |
Penetration_ Guru -- Maybe you are right and you probably 90% right, but someone you might know may become one. According to World statistics however the longer the disease remains out there it will mutate leading to different and perhaps even more dangerous strains of HIV. Kriz |
Perestroyka 17.12.2003 14:44 |
my mum has AIDS and for all i know i might have it too...she won't let me go get tested...so i do give a shit bout it coz one day it cold kill me |
FairyQueen 17.12.2003 23:17 |
Dudley does have a point.... |
YourValentine 18.12.2003 03:47 |
Perestroyka, I hope your mum gets the therapy she needs and has chances to be a long time survivor. I don't know how old you are but if your mother does not allow you to be tested, you should seek help from an AIDS/HIV organisation near you. They can advise you how to address the situation. I just hope with all my heart that you are not infected but if you are, it's better to face the situation. You can quickly find an AIDS organisation in your area on this website link |
Daburcor? 18.12.2003 04:23 |
"Dudley does have a point...." I disagree. It is TOO broad a generalization. In my opinion, saying that NONE of us care and that we just want new Queen stuff is kind of a slap in the face to those here that are active in the fight against AIDS in some way. Maybe these people were sparked by Queen in some way to get involved(IE. Freddie getting AIDS), But does that mean that they are just being selfish because someone they loved and admired had something to do with the whole thing (either dying or becoming involved because of that death)? No. Does it mean they just PRETEND to care because they hope to see/hear something about Queen or Freddie? No. There is a such thing as compassion (no matter how little of it we see), Some of us actually DO care. And as for you Dudley, You are nothing but a fool. Think before you post something so stupid or just don't post at all. |
.: Alexey Gruzdev :. 27.12.2003 23:01 |
I think there is alot of true in Dudley's post, and doesn't matter what you all say. |
SallyJ. 28.12.2003 07:12 |
"I'm very concerned about AIDS... I wish people would fucking stop worrying about Cancer and find a damn cure for AIDS instead! (didn't mean to offend anyone there) " Kate, you did offend people out there. (me, for example) How can you compare cancer to aids? Is aids worse? I dunno I never had it, but I had cancer though and I can tell you I am very glad there was a 'cure'. I am sure you mean well, just don't use such words please. Iff one day someone you love (or perhaps you yourself) will discover they have cancer, you will remember your own words. I hope you will be healthy for the rest of your life. And I hope someone will find a cure for both cancer and aids. Nobody deserves to die like that. |
deleted user 28.12.2003 10:54 |
*sigh* Look, I knew what I meant ok? (just can't find the damn words to explain...) and I said in my post I didn't mean to offend anyone.. Cancer and AIDS are both big problems and I know that. I almost had cancer myself. And what about my brother?! He could have AIDS... He's had enough damn partners, and he's done enough fucking drugs... I care about my brother but he's stupid as a rock, and doesn't listen to anyone... |
JohnRichardDeacon 28.12.2003 11:39 |
Although Dudley's post is designed to wind people up, it is for the most part, true. |
bikerbabe 28.12.2003 16:50 |
perestroyka,i think you need to sit your mom down and have a long talk with her, as the sooner you start on the medication the longer and better quality of life you will have ( that is if you are unlucky) i used to have a few friends that had hiv and aids and it really is a soul destroying illness, not only for the person but the friends and family also, i no longer work as a buddy but to everyone fighting this battle, all the best wishes and best of luck in the world. |
Coopin 28.12.2003 20:53 |
But if some people are watching just to see if Freddie or Queen is mentioned, maybe some of it will sink in. |
geeksandgeeks 28.12.2003 21:55 |
Perhaps what ol' Dud said is true about many of us. But personally, I care. I can't stand to see people hurt like that. As for what I've done, I recently began making dolls, which I sell, and the proceeds go to pet charities. No brownie points for guessing what they are. |
