Hi all. I'm new here and need some tips regarding newly digitalized recordings from my friend. How can I transfer the files (flaq if I remember well) to make them available here on qz? Also, they are huge so is it possible to convert them into mp3 files so I can use my smaller capacity pendrive to transfer them before I put them here? |
Chinwonder2 10.09.2017 18:04 |
Hello and welcome to QueenZone! :) From what I am reading, are you saying that you have the tapes digitized and you're not sure how to upload them or are you looking to have them digitized? If you're not sure how to upload the FLAC files I can help you with that! :) -Chin |
Black King 10.09.2017 18:41 |
I have FLAC files and want to upload them here. Probably much more recordings to come (70's and 80's), he just need to transfer his collection properly. |

Black King wrote: I have FLAC files and want to upload them here. Probably much more recordings to come (70's and 80's), he just need to transfer his collection properly.Great first post here ! It's always a great day when we learn there are more tapes of Queen in the 70s. Are you PC or Mac ? If PC - the easiest way to do it is to put the FLAC files in a .zip or .rar file (done in Windows explorer), and then upload the file to wetransfer.com and post the link here. If it's just 1 or 2 giant FLAC files, then skip the previous step and just upload each one to wetransfer.com. Please don't convert them to mp3 - there is irreversible quality loss. Good luck ! And we're here if you need any more help. |

Here's more detailed instructions! :) Ok, I am going to tell you how to package the files together and how to upload them onto here! :) Just follow these steps, I'll have some images below to help :) 1. Create a new folder and place all of the .flac files (or file) into it. http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/1d9d/48d1qkxyqjf6fan4g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> 2. Right click on the folder and click on 'Send To...' and click on 'Compressed Folder'. You should now have the files within a folder with a .zip as the extension. http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/ccd3/t32nlxajt906f344g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/4598/sngr89rxkfm9tt74g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> 3. Next go onto link and click on the circle with the ... and make sure its set to a link. Then hit the blue 'Transfer' button. http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/84aa/42h4z3r747qnlp84g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/b2ad/b8mt03j306z43ec4g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> 4. Once the .zip file has finished uploading, click on the link displayed to copy it. http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/b19b/5ngacndl5cp1he54g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> 5. I can't recall all of them but he's from California and I'm sure he attended and recorded San Diego gigs: December 16 1977 and July 5 1980 and Inglewood ones: December 18, 19 and 20 1978 and September 14 and 15, 1982. Not sure about Inglewood 1977, but probably yes. Also he mentioned about some recordings from South Africa concerts they played in the middle of the 80's, probably South City, not sure if named it correctly. Will try to get the full list of recordings and will post it here as soon as I get it. |

Well call me cynical, but in my experience, if something seems too good to be true, it usually is. I think someone here has created a new account and decided to have a bit of fun. Someone who knows a bit about whats circulating. Even the casual almost throwaway Sun City (South City indeed) remark raised alarm bells with me. Like I say, if I'm proved wrong I'll happily eat lots of humble pie. |

I would first like to say that I've enjoyed the fake stirring up of hype surrounding this thread. To the guy responsible, congrats, you've gotten the community to talk (albeit in a sort of negative manner). Unfortunately, if this gets you off, then you need to hang around other places (like actually doing productive things in your life :P ). As much as I want to believe this, I cannot. This is the only post I'll be making in this thread. Sorry for seeming so blunt, but I know where this is going. |

I dont know how similar audacity is to trader's little helper but when encoding multiple wav files to flac you need to check the box that says "align sector boundaries using" and then select "fix". |

I talked to Chinwonder about it but will post it here as well. Please forgive me that I delay posting the stuff. Black King wrote: OK, thanks Greg. Then I won' bother it. Thought it might be serious.SBEs are a problem only in the case that somebody decides to burn it on audio CDs. Audio CDs hold data in minimum block ("sector") sizes of 1/75th second (0.01333 seconds / 2352 bytes of data / 588 stereo samples). If you try to burn an audio file to an audio CD, and its length is not an exact number of sectors, the last sector will usually be padded with digital silence (zeros). This gap is referred to as a "sector boundary error" because it is an error caused by a large audio file having been split into individual tracks at places other than sector boundaries (1/75th second intervals). As such, an SBE is a silence of less-than-but-not-equal-to 1/75th second found "between" audio tracks on a CD. I say "between" because technically it is at the end of the preceeding track and has nothing to do with the one that follows. In some cases, this flaw could be completely unnoticeable, as it could be only one sample, and could fit neatly into the current flow of samples. However, more likely it will leave an audible silence, or an audible click. The click is caused when the silence interrupts a "loud" part of the waveform, i.e. one that is not close to digital silence. The waveform makes a sudden jump from a loud value to silence, and then back up again to carry on when it left off. I'll add some images in a minute for clarification. Once you burn an audio CD with SBEs, the silences become part of the audio data - they won't disappear again if/when you extract back to your computer. An audio file extracted from a CD can never have an SBE because it's come from a CD and is as such sector-boundary-aligned. It should be noted that "SBE" has falsely become something of a catch-all term for anything that has a short (non-two-second) silence between tracks. There was an Ozric Tentacles show seeded on STG over summer straight from the master, which had silences at the end of each track that were maybe 0.05-0.1 seconds in length. I've no idea what the taper did to achieve these, but I've seen the show on tradelists noting "quite a large SBE between each track" - there's no such thing as a "large" SBE - it's by definition less than 1/75th second in length.(link |

And regarding to this Crazy Tour tape this is what I think. Of course I might be terribly wrong! I believe the tape is real. RabinMurry was wrongly informed by the collector who had given the tape to him. I think this is Liverpool 6th December as Nitroboy suggested. I was thinking about this concert because we know the tape does exist. And probably more than one person has this tape because Bob wrote down the setlist on his great page :) |

What I absolutely LOVE is when QPL lin eup something that is supposed to WOW everyone with the attendant press release to whip up the masses, only to then find that, within the community, an illegitimate release is imminent that is set to completely blow the afore mentioned official release out of the water. The generosity of people that saw fit to preserve a moment in time shows no bounds. |

Not sure about Inglewood 1977, but probably yes. Also he mentioned about some recordings from South Africa concerts they played in the middle of the 80's, probably South City, not sure if named it correctly. Will try to get the full list of recordings and will post it here as soon as I get it.If "the friend" is a local taper, then he can't have the Sun City tape. If he's also a collector, then by now we would know about the existence of these US recordings. Plus, choosing only gigs without alternate audience tapes is a bit too much. You should be more careful with the next pranks, but i must admit you are very good. I enjoyed most the endless technical obstacles and the pseudo-error moments, "flaq", "south city". |

But, playing along with your warped 15-year-old mind, could this just be someone that tapes shows, locally, and was able to get his little ass off to an airport in 1984 after booking a flight to the land of the arch-racist? Maybe he traded a Sun City master for something he had captured himself? >If he's also a collector, then by now we would know about the existence of these US recordings Could this international traveller also be one of those reviled "hoarders" that has suddenly had a change of heart? Think outside of the box my pedigree chum........... Probably time for your bottle now, so pop that bib on, jump up into your little high chair and let mummy strap you in. |

Black King 15.09.2017 12:00 |
@Aristide1 What are you talking about? He recorded many 'local' gigs in US, especially in CA, then traded some of them, to make his collection more attractive. Simple as that. As for Sun City, he didn't recorded those gigs, the taper was from Germany, they were trading with each other in the 80's. |

I've followed this thread since the beginning and was apprehensive since the first post where the poster knew about flac but couldn't spell it correctly and then asked about converting to mp3 (ha!)...All the stalling and empty posts and then finally a setlist that should have been a dead giveaway that it was a complete and utter sham. But, hey, one never knows, so I checked back in to see what transpired. Then I see a link posted...then the reactions of those who tried to download it. All I can say is the original poster is a damn shmuck, an idiot, a sorry excuse for a human being. Obviously a Queen fan, but he should have his Queen card revoked. When you've got something rare, you don't string people along...you maybe make a cryptic quip about having something...you tease a little for a day or two if you like, then you announce a true date and you follow through. But when you're a sap you get your jollies by watching people go ape shit over thin air and laugh and get giddy at the responses from people who are genuine fans, who really do take this stuff seriously. One of these days there really will be something rare for us folks. |

I don't post much, well, almost not at all, but I really don't understand what's to be gained by all this. He tricked people who share a love to music he obviously loves as well. What's the point? In a way, I'm impressed. I've got a 10-year-old son who keeps me very busy and my love of music, especially that of Queen, does take up a considerable amount of time that's left over. This guy has the time to devote to something like that? Hard to understand, hard to believe. And sad. Which one of us WOULDN'T want something new to surface? I'm trying to resist the urge to use any sort of play on words with "The Game," but seriously. Days of this? Reminds me of the late '80s when some odd people would trade tapes and mess with the recording level to make your copy a little less off. Just don't get it among the pretty much overall generosity and kindness of people on here. Sad. |

Sydney 1985 (2017 Edition) 3. 1984.09.20 Leiden - source 3 (previously uncirculated) 4. 1976-03-29 Queen - Osaka Rhapsody TARANTURA CD - both concerts 5. Houston 1977 (2017 Edition) So big thanks to Chief Mouse, BootLuca and The Real Wizard !!! What's more we've got snippets of Liverpool 79 from Crazy Tour! Hope for more to come sooner than later :) And I guess Nagoya 1975 will be soon :)) edit: And Sleeping On The Sidewalk was performed on the 2nd Detroit show 19th November 1977. I'm sorry - I gotta disappoint all you guys - I'm just gonna post this on here sine I can't find the Liverpool '79 thread, this one at least had the concert mentioned: I just wanted to see how people would react if I pretended I knew who has a recording of the master tape in order to get released. I was hoping the owner is on Queenzon and can read all of this but after time, I got plenty of messages telling me to stop faulsely accusing people of being hoarders. If I made someone look as if they hoarded a better quality recording, I'm sorry. I honestly don't know who owns the master tape recording or if it even exists. I'm sorry I just was trying to to find out if anyone on here owns the master tape recoding. I guess it went all the wrong way :( I'm sorry for what I've done. Now you can delete my account if you want to, I probably deserve it. |

How strange? I was reading the Liverpool thread last night around midnight (UK time) up until the point it disappeared and what mckey and Barry were discussing seemed fairly innocuous by Queenzone standards, no names were named and there was no swearing. No one got molested as far as I could see!!! Some people have been calling for more moderation on this site, I guess this is what that looks like - an entire thread deleted. Maybe the inferior copy was posted in an effort to VALIDATE someone who went through a lot of work to transfer and share THEIR copy? For the record - the last couple pages of this thread are perhaps why so many Queen tapes remain under wraps. Or have we not noticed that roughly half of the shares of uncirculated tapes over the last few years have resulted in full blown war? Hello people, I banned user mckey because of severe trolling and stalking of a user. It was not because of sharing or anything else related to Queenzone. You all should know me long enough to know that I do not ban people easily but there are cases when I have a responsibility that goes beyond this forum and this was the case here. People should be able to come here and enjoy their hobby without being followed and molested through the QZ pm function or in other ways here on QZ. I am sorry about any inconvenience with the deleted thread, I am sure Liverpool can be re-shared. |
mckey 22.09.2017 18:21 |
Probably someone here is afraid that I would say something that would be uncomfortable for them to be publically announced. I didn't molest anyone in here. So I guess that was just invented by someone .Here's the thing: I actually planned to step away from here more or less with dignity but being accused of molesting someone is just ridiculous! Seems like somebody on here just wants to see me banned very badly - and certainly not just because of stalking ( which I never did) Don't worry - I won't mention the subject of Liverpool '79 anymore on the forum - certain people get too angry about it. Furthermore I'm sorry that some idiot had to delete the whole thread because of my posts which didn't even contain any names - that's just stupid. Whoever deleted the whole thread: You were overreacting. |

It's a cruel world for sure, but the sun will come out again. Mysterious newbie users do sometimes pop up out of the blue and share uncirculated recordings, so it will no doubt happen again at some point and most of you will be happy for a while. |
