not sure that Axl Rose is deserving of winning after his ego took over guns and roses |
Silken 09.12.2010 09:41 |

never heard of that magazine.... Says it all really? Axl would never top any poll as "The greatest" in any poll with any respectabilty. He's actually a grade A Cock |
The Real Wizard 09.12.2010 12:01 |
I love Dream Theater, but even James LaBrie would disagree with being above Steven Tyler, Geddy Lee, Iggy Pop, and Diana Ross. |

Sir GH wrote: I love Dream Theater, but even James LaBrie would disagree with being above Steven Tyler, Geddy Lee, Iggy Pop, and Diana Ross. Agreed, but why do rock fans think Geddy lee had a great voice?....I love rush, and have every album, but geddy isn't a great singer. Even worse than axle rose. Axle being #1 is a joke all together. |
The Real Wizard 09.12.2010 14:05 |
Yeah, Geddy is a good singer but certainly not amongst the best. Rush are best known for their ability to transfer their technical ability into great songs. If anything, the voice in Rush is the only weak spot. But it fits their sound perfectly. |
mike hunt 09.12.2010 14:52 |
That i agree with sir! |
jamster1111 09.12.2010 14:58 |
Axyl Rose barely sings...he just screams. Plus, I doubt Axyl could sing all of those genres that Freddie sang. His voice basically only works for one or two things, when Freddie's basically worked for everything. |
Gregsynth 09.12.2010 15:02 |
I bet Freddie was #1 on that list, but Axl changed it. |
Jennie 09.12.2010 16:03 |
Freddie is the best, what ever magazines may say ;) No other singer I know of can/could sing so many styles perfectly, have such huge audience in the palm of his hand and being able to sing live with as good sound as studio! The tones Freddie could take without effort, and the changes he made during songs... I get goose bumps every time! In the lap of the Gods in live version, OMG! I'm a girl, and I can't sing it- yet! Or his amazing performance with The show must go on. He was dying when recording it, and nailed it 100% and other singers can't even do it half as good! We will never know, but I do have this feeling that Freddie would maybe have been singing opera today if still alive. Most other "rock singers" are just... Well... Rock singers... They can't sing other types of songs as good. I'd like to hear Axl sing Golden boy or something :O |
freddiefan91 10.12.2010 02:19 |
Jennie wrote: I'd like to hear Axl sing Golden boy or something :O ______________________________________________________ I wouldnt!!!!! Axl is better off sticking to his own songs, he screeched his way through we will rock you at the freddie tribute and i have seen clips of him on stage with gnr screeching his way through their own songs |

Eddie Vedder is missing - again! I wonder why he is never appreciated - a great personality, great voice, fronting one of the biggest bands on the planet. |
plumrach 10.12.2010 04:49 |
Freddie will always be number one in my eyes and this poll by some obscure music blog thing that i have not heard of is not worth anything |
Makka 10.12.2010 06:05 |
What a terrible list that is? Just terrible! |
Wijnand 10.12.2010 07:58 |
I think Axl will be only no 1 in the following poll: Greatest singer of Guns N Roses?! |
john bodega 10.12.2010 10:59 |
I've seen some retarded lists in my time, but this one takes the cake. In what world is Axl Rose a better singer than Ronnie James Dio? I don't think even Axl Rose thinks that, and he loves himself more than I love lasagne. Hell, he's not even the best singer in his own band. How can he be the best of all time? |
Amazon 11.12.2010 04:08 |
I love Axl. I think he's an absolute freak, and one of the greatest singers of all time, and I am stunned at the lack of respect many people on this site have for him. He's a truly brilliant singer. However I don't think he deserves to be number 1. While I do think he is better than many of the singers on this list, I don't think he is as good as someone like Freddie; but then nobody on this list are IMO as good as Freddie. :D I also probably wouldn't put him in the top 2 or 3. I don't know how I would place him, but I do think he is better than most of the singers on this list. I probably would place him just outside the top 5. I also think that Paul is a better singer than John, but I realise that I'm clearly in a minority since most lists rank John above Paul. |

"I am stunned at the lack of respect many people on this site have for him. He's a truly brilliant singer." *shrug* I dunno, respect is earned. He lost a lot by mangling WWRY at the Freddie tribute - I still can't figure out what they were thinking by giving him that song. Surely someone heard it in rehearsals and thought "let's not do this - this is a bad idea". I assumed, after hearing him at the Freddie gig, that maybe he'd be better in his own idiom, but really I haven't heard anything good from him since then. I think right at the end of the 80's, he did a couple of numbers that earned him a spot as a memorable vocalist, but whatever he had back then, he lost pretty quickly. |
Riku M 12.12.2010 13:22 |
Interesting, I actually think Axl was one of the very few who managed to pull it of on the tribute concert. In Freddie's absence he was the singer of the day. Yes, his voice could be rough but so was Freddie's from time to time. Both have/had a unique voice but Freddie was more versatile. |

Although to be fair, apart from George Michael with STL, there weren't that many brilliant performances. "I think right at the end of the 80's, he did a couple of numbers that earned him a spot as a memorable vocalist, but whatever he had back then, he lost pretty quickly." You should listen to the Chinese Democracy album. I'm actually of the view that hehas gotten better as he's aged. He was terrific on AFD, although my favourite part (the guitar solo on Sweet Child) was by Slash, but IMO his best performances have been on songs such as Civil War and on the Chinese Democracy album. He has a brilliant and distinct use of phrasing, and it's superbly illustrated in songs such as Civil War and the new album. There's no David Bowie in the top list, so I don't take seriously this kind of lists :) |

"Axl Rose has been voted the greatest lead singer of all time by readers of MusicRadar, ahead of Freddy Mercury, Robert Plant, Ronnie James Dio, John Lennon and Bruce Dickinson." So Axel made it ahead of Freddy, Bob Plant, Ronnie Jim, Johnny Lennon, and Bruce Dixon. Good for him. Loved the 'fashionably late' comment. To me, what an axel. Too drugged up or paranoid to show up on stage at appointed times or at all. Just kinda sad that this poll was considered 'news'. |
leandar 13.12.2010 23:53 |
I agree there's no way Axl should be #1. It should have either been Freddie or Robert Plant, IMO. |
dilalisima 14.12.2010 20:58 |
hahaha, who did this, axl number 1 and the greates freddie mercury second.please be serious |
*goodco* 15.12.2010 14:36 |
Where was Alice Cooper? On stage, changing the lead singer spotlight, giving fans a show every night, unlike mr. paranoid. link Ozzy? Peter Wolf? David Lee Roth? Sammy? Jim Morrison #11.........wtf..............2A or 2B with Alice (Freddie #1) As to vocals, Steve Perry, Dennis DeYoung, Geoff Tate, Kevin Cronin........ Hell...........Art Garfunkel and Harry Chapin were terrific in concert as front men. Not exciting, but frickin memorable. |

Christ, Dee Snider is a far superior singer and much better frontman for a band (Twisted Sister) |
