hello, some fans here have recorded some shows, i mean like bootlegs, and my question is, where do you put the recorder? do you hold it in your hand and put it hight or in your pocket? thanks :)
I don't do audio recordings but the people I know who do them (and who are all male) usually take the recorders in their pants - exactly where a security person never would touch you :)
My pants... that's IT! lol Yes, I've done that once. It does work. However, when I left it in my left-hand jacket pocket, I didn't get found out and have left it there before. Then I'd make sure I'd have a black mic that I poke through a button hole in my jacket. Works like a charm.
Adam.
If in doubt, stand in front of the mixing desk. Nice and central and the man behind you is trying to make it sound as good as possible to him (as there's no other way of doing it).
Oh, and don't clap, whoop, holler or cheer, unless you REALLY love the sound of your own voice.

but when i could not get to the first row, where is then the best place to have the sound still best as possible ? :)

Does it matter that much? Just stand somewhere where it sounds good to you. It's from YOUR perspective.
Adam.
I didn't say go the first row. I said go to the mixing desk, which is usually the middle of the venue.
But as said, anywhere it sounds good to you, will sound the same through your mic.
i can recommend to move as close to the loudspeakers as possible, because the louder the music the less you´ll have the prattling girls next to you on your recording.
but make sure that your recording level is very low then.
