God I hope that's not true - Kiss are bound to want to headline, and most of their music just doesn't warrant it! Brian has recently quoted something on his sopabox about Paul Stanley recently, so it could be that they've been talking? |

I'm getting a bad feeling about this, but hey ho whatever gets them out there for me to see I guess. They did do that gig in the states a couple of months back with Kiss on the bill so I guess Jim might be doing deals with them even as we speak, still I can't see either being support for the other so maybe if it does happen it would be a double header tour, like Elton and Billy Joel. hmmmm well I guess Roger could get his green hair dye out again but I can't see Mr Rodgers in the black and steel platforms can you? |

I cannot imagine such a tour in Europe - it would be one of the pathetic out-of-date act shows. If one of them does not fill a hall, take two or even more. The audience is usually a sentimental older crowd whining how great the 80s were and wearing their old clothes they don't fit into anymore - just horrible. Luckily, Queen + PR were much too successful last year to consider such a scenario. |

Think of it this way: if they tour with Kiss, then they have a better likelihood of hitting parts of the US that they didn't before. There were great gaps in the last tour, particularly the Midwest and central parts of the US. I actually think that if they tour with Kiss, they might hit my neck of the woods. Of course, $150 is a lot of money, assuming that's in the ballpark for a potential 2007 show. I can't see that price going down at all. |
YourValentine 31.08.2006 12:30 |
Togg - nothing is wrong with your Queen tshirt amd I am an older person myself! You just have to see these shows to understand how horrible they are. You have "70s shows" or "80s shows" where old bands play their few hits, often to backing tapes or even full playback. The audience is not there for a live music experience , they are there for their memories to be fuelled by what is left from their childhood heroes. The QPR tour was nothing like that and I really hope Brian and Roger never will be part of such events. Maybe it's different in the USA but here such shows are awful. |

I see a lot of people commenting when they have no idea what they're talking about. Let me assist. Usually when two acts of this magnitude tour together, one does not support the other. They both play sets usually spanning 90 minutes or so, and they both take it in turns who headlines. What Gene says is just KISS tradition - they made a claim that they would never support anybody when they made it big. Of course they did, but it's a good marketing image, something KISS excell at. Gene's hardly going to say "I love Queen, I can't wait to open for them" is he? KISS have sold masses of records, just like Queen. KISS dwarf Queen in the US, but it's the other way around in Europe. So I'd imagine it would make sense for Queen to be on second in Europe, and the other way around in America. KISS haven't played the UK since 1998, so it would be great to see them. The other thing is, whatever you think about their music, KISS play huge venues because of their stage show, so that can't do Queen any harm. KISS fans alone would make the shows a success, Queen fans alone would make the shows a success. This would be a great business marraige, and the fans would witness two of the most legendary live rock acts of all time. It could, however, be Gene just rumour mongering. He does that from time to time. I'm currently in the hope of being granted an interview with Paul Stanley when his new solo album comes out, and if I am that fortunate, I shall ask him. JG |

I hope this is true it would be AMAZING. Kiss are brilliant like AC/DC and QUEEN they come from the glorious 70'S when real classic rock strode the earth. Gene Simmons does bullshit a lot but he's a fantastic entertainer and Kiss are an exceelent band live and have made some great songs and shit ones too but then so have Queen (Yes they have!) You couldn't expect Queen Minus Freddie to headline over Kiss in the States anyway and that is nothing against Paul who is amazing. The trouble is their are too many teenagers and 20 somethings on here who do not appreciate that Rodgers is a Legend of Rock like Freddie, Jagger, Plant, Ozzy, Gillan, Dio, Daltrey who came from the 70's and that Free and Bad Company are two of the most influentail bands in Rock. Note that jumped up pounce Robbie Williams is not included in that illustrious list or George 'Just because I'm bent and can do ballads and dance shit but not ROCK I could replace Freddie' Michael. No they are former boyband members who suddenly wanted to be taken seriously. (Don't call me a homophobe cos Rob Halford from Priest is another one of the legendary front men come to think of it! Personally I always preferred Queen as the heavy band I think after Hot Space their albums became too poppy except one or two rockers or decent ballads. Queen were clever that they kept their original metal fans happy most of the time but they attracted 'pop' fans too in the eighties with lightgweight stuff like AOBTD, RGG, AKOM. I think it was a shame that Queen never headlined Monsters of Rock which was always a Hard Rock and Metal Festival. I remember writing to Jacky at The fan club in 1986 after the magic tour asking if Queen had ever been asked to play she said they hadn't and were not really heavy enough yet Roger has been quoted as saying that 'we were in essence a hard rock band'. Strange that? Bon Jovi, Status Quo and Aerosmith all headlined(none of these are really any 'heavier' than Queen so here is my fantasy Monsters of Rock for 2007 after the Kiss/Paul Rodgers tour. Queen/Paul Rodgers Def Leppard Foo Fighters The Darkness Wolfmother Tokyo Dragons This would be at Donington not Milton Keynes btw! |

Ooooh, I can't see Queen opening for a second rate Kiss tribute band (which is exactly waht Kiss has turned into...they even have a tribute band escapee wearing Ace's makeup). This whole thing can't be good. BTW, Kiss opened for Aerosmith a few years back, so it's not beyond the realm of imagination that Kiss could be opening for Queen (regardless of how it's being billed). As far as Gene's "Queen is playing with us, we're not playing with them" comment, I sure hope Brian and Roger have the sense to put their feet down and say "We go on last, or there's no show". The thing that stinks is...if something like this had come up, say, in 96 or 98, I would have been all for it. Back then, atl east you were getting the original lineup of Kiss. Now, as I say, they've got the drummer geek from the early 90's (Eric Singer, yes I know his name, he's still a geek) wearing Peter's makeup, and a guy from a tribute band in Ace's. The only way this is gonna be cool is Kiss does songs off Music From The Elder (which probably ain't gonna happen). |

james gaden 2072 01.09.2006 05:00 |
I would like to add that those who claim KISS is a joke now obviously haven't heard them with Singer and Thayer, as oppose to the two workshy wastrels that were Frehley and Criss. Lest we forget, when Frehley came back to the band for the reuinion tour, he had to be taught his own solos again by Bruce Kulick. The band now gives you all the glam and pyro of the classic era, but performed by skilled musicians who can delivery the classic era material note for note EVERY night. Queen can carry on without Freddie for tours, and KISS can certainly survive without Criss and Frehley, who frankly have very little talent. Eric Singer owns Criss on the drums, and sings 'Black Diamond' better. Thayer is an all round better player than Frehley, and adds a beefed up sound to the old songs. Gene and Paul are KISS. And I think it's unlikely Gene and Freddie wouldn't get on. What's left of Queen got on very well with what's left of KISS at the Hall Of Fame. Freddie and Roger have in the past shown some wild ego traits with some of their comments, so take Gene's as you would theirs. That's what makes them iconic rock stars. And for those who say KISS are overrated, how many of their 22 albums have you heard? If, like me you have heard (or own) them all, you will find a surprising amount of diversity - from the pomp of "The Elder" to the heavy, grungy "Carnival Of Souls". And whatever else you say, KISS kick ass live. JG |

I happen to like both bands (having been a teenager in the 70's, they both caught me ears/eyes in '76). As crazy as sounds, I could see them touring together-but I personally don't like it. Most Kiss fans wouldn't really appreciate Queen's music. Obviously, a majority of the Queen fans here don't have much use for Kiss. The main issue I have is that Gene Simmons has a way of saying things that always exposes his enormous ego. And, of course, with Gene, in the end it always about money. Somebody in earlier post jokingly said they were waiting for Brian to say how much Freddie loved Paul Stanley's voice-this was after Freddie died, but Paul actually took over lead in the Phantom of the Opera stage production in New York and Toronto in the late-90's. He got mixed reviews, but the man can sing...not as well as Freddie of course, but better than most hard rock singers. |

KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley has shot down reports that KISS will be touring with QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS in 2007. KissKollector.com reported yesterday that KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons told the "Dudley & Bob" morning show on Austin's classic rock station KLBJ that KISS will take out QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS on the band's 2007 tour. Gene said that both bands had talked during the "VH1: Rock Honors" show and agreed to hit the road together. In typical Gene fashion, he went on to claim in the interview that "QUEEN is playing with us, we're not playing with QUEEN." However, a posting on KISS' official web site reads as follows: "KissOnline received hundreds of emails asking about a rumored KISS/QUEEN tour, so Thursday night we asked Paul [Stanley] about the rumor. 'While the guys and I are huge fans and friends of QUEEN and Paul Rodgers, and touring together would be great...no KISS tour plans with or without QUEEN are currently in the works,' Paul said. "One tour that IS in the works, is the Paul Stanley 'Live To Win' tour, which will kick off in late October with 15-20 shows planned across the U.S." First rumored date: November 14 at the House of Blues in Hollywood, California. End of story |

End of storySo, much ado about nothing, as is typical. |

Kiss and queen have so much in common :) Both have had their best days in live performances ages ago and at least this rumour was a nice laugh |

Just read the Paul Stanley statement again - "no KISS tour plans with or without QUEEN are currently in the works'. If it wasn't at least partly true there would be a categorical denial, and, I'm sure, QP would have put our minds at ease and issued a denial too. However, by using the word "currently" they cover themselves so that if it does happen, they can just say that at the time they were asked, there were no plans and they didn't lie to anyone. The 'scampi in a basket for £150' circuit is seemingly getting worse and worse in the States (Aerosmith are about to go out with Motley Crue but haven't been to the UK since '97) - thankfully we haven't got that bad over here YET. Kiss may have sold a lot of records in the US, but then so have N-Sync, New Kids on The Block etc... - Kiss are just a stage show with a few good songs that are now 30 odd years old. Queen are one of the few bands (along with possibly The Who, Pink Floyd, and Led Zep if they did reform) who have the stage show, but also importantly have the musical pedigree and heritage to warrant a tour without it being just a money making exercise with no validity. This tour may be 'made in heaven' for the US, but it would kill Queen's credibility as being a viable force for making any new music and legitimate musically worth future tours, certainly in the UK and probably across Europe too. Brian has recently mentioned that Q+PR will be heading out again in approx. Spring '07, (possibly in support of some new studio stuff??) so this really does look like it may happen, even though doing this 'Greatest Hits' support slot would almost certainly kill the credibility of any new material. Surely they can't need the money that much?!?!?! I'm sorry if this all sounds so negative, but this is my longest ever post here and needed to get it off my chest - I have also emailed a personalised copy of this to Brian. John Deacon must be crying himself to sleep at night over this one.....I was never on his side for not touring before, but now it seems like such a good idea. |

"NO KISS TOUR 2007 WITH QUEEN ? Paul Stanley denies now on Kissonline, that there are plans to Tour with Queen next year. But Paul will be playing 15-20 Solo-shows starting late October." plus theres no Queen damnit theres Queen + PR which isnt even quite it cuz john deacon isnt there |

This thread was great to read. If this tour was for real (I know its not), I would still buy a ticket to see Queen+PR. I am not a KISS fan but I would still go. If Queen+PR came on first, I'd see them, check a little of KISS out, stay if I liked it, leave if I didn't. No big deal to me. But I would DEF go to see Queen+PRR!!! |

I absolutely agree with most of everything that "cmsdrums" said. With the exception on the comment about John. As everybody well knows John is 100% retired from the music buisness. The only thing that John's been pissed off about is when Brian and Roger re-recorded Queen staples with second rate pop stars. Why would he cry himself to sleep, or even be flustered over Brian, Roger, and Paul heading into the studio to record new original material? I don't think John really cares about that one way or another, I beleive he just wants to be left to his own devices. |
