I read an article about Celine Dion and she is a big fan of Freddie Mercury. She said that she loved his voice, his songs and the way he performed on stage. She has actually copied a few of his moves. She goes on to say that she wants to do a tribute album of Freddies's songs. I thought at first Oh my god, NO, but as I thought of it more I could imagine her singing songs like Bacrelona,Living on My Own,I Was born to love you. What do you think? What songs do you think she would do well at? |

Well, sounds like a interesting idea. Im not a big Celine Dion fan, but anybody who likes Freddie and want to do a tribute to him, are welcome. Anything with a new sound could be nice - even Celine Dion ;-) Hopefully its much better than the 'Killer Queen' tribute, witch was filled with fairly un-known artist (boring) and was filled with crappy tributes to the songs (no new sound + boring voices) |

I actually don't mind Celine - she has a great dramatic voice with much power and I reckon Freddie would be "chuffed" that she would want to sing some of his songs, coz like her or not - she does have a good voice ! I have the Elaine Paige album - and that stank abit (I did not like it much) but I do think Celine would do a better job of it and she would also introduce Freddie's work to a larger audience - which would be a good thing. Anyway - c'mon - what would it hurt???? It may even make people check out Freddies versions !! I think we ought to just wait and see what is is like, before we "bag it" - and hey - you dont like Celine, or the idea - then DONT BUY THE ALBUM !!!!!!!! SIMPLE AS THAT. |

Nothing is accidental, everything is well rehaearsed and please don't tell me she doesn't have a GREAT VOICE!! And this is not a question of taste, it is what it is. If you say she doesn't have a great voice then it's ridiculous to say Freddie was that great, because they're very similar kind of singers. They both sing in a very high pitch and very few singers can reach their vocal range. TAke care |

Oh God I get sooo fed up with other people trying to do Freddies songs. It drives me to distraction to hear it over and over again, Robbie, G4, The newscasters (although that was funny), and all people ever do is say 'well it was their own interpretation'. I suppose if Freddie were here, or, who knows he maybe is sat up there laughing his socks off! The fact is, that even if someone has the range to pull off one of his songs, (and thats maybe why a lot of people seem to want to try it, because its a challenge), I wish they would realise, there was only ONE FM, although hes no longer with us, it does not give them licence to publically murder his songs, it makes me cringe, when I hear the various attempts, and all most of them are trying to do is make money off Queens back because they cant write their own material! Thats it, rant over, sorry all, but Queens material should be done by them, if Celine thinks she can do it well enough to record and sell it, like Elaine Paige did many moons ago, then IMO it will just be another mediochre cd sat on the shelves at Big W. |
