I personally think this is the best Queen song ever. It is beatiful song with a beatiful melody and still bring continous joy to me. I think when I heard this song it was not only the climax of my Queen fandom but it was the climax of my life and when I heard the fanmix I had a climax in my pants. This song is so famous it has been intergrated into are daily lives for fans of Queen. And as for me I give a 10 and a giant YEAH to yeah. Yours Thought? Lester Maybe? |

I dunno guys, I don't think I'm well-experienced enough for this one. I also feel that I hog the chance for everyone else to get very in-depth, and it's not like I can really whip these up spur of the moment - this shit takes a lot out of me! I just don't want to upstage anyone... |

This song is unique in many ways. It takes the term "music" to a new level. No other band could have been so brave to release such an outstanding piece of art in a time when techno music was dominating the music scene. It's not only the nonconformistic style, it's also the positive and uplifting attitude that makes this song a very definite artistic statement. Just imagine they had called it "No" - there would not be half of the energy and vibe that makes this track so unparalleled. For some Queenzoners it's the favourite song to make love to - it just has the perfect length. |

This is a song that took a look back at Queen's entire recording career and bought it to a close in a way that only the composer of Bohemian Rhapsody could possibly have managed. I mean just think of the Lyrics it perfectly sums up everybodys deepest feelings about their music. Although short, the powerful vocals take centre-stage and pull at those heartstrings until you have to accept that this is the last time you will hear Freddie Mercury sing something new. Then before you have time to hit the repeat button on your CD player it is over and you are taken to the final track that charts Freddie's blissful journey to another world. Fortunately, the music has been preserved for all time on plastic, which we can revisit whenever life needs brighting up. YEH |

I don't possibly know how I could top Barbara's review. I mean, talk about perfect! Speaking of perfect, 'Yeah' is four seconds of absolute perfection. It all starts off after the reprise of 'Beautiful Day' ends, and you know you're in for something special. After the final cascade of drums, there's that solitary moment when your heart is literally hanging in your throat, the tension and suspense is so high. What's he going to say? you wonder. They have to end this song somehow! I mean, you can't just be left sitting there, wondering what's going to happen next and not have anything happen. That would be absolutely fatal on Queen's part. So, it starts with a 'y'. One of the better of twenty-six letters that we have, and certainly very strong. The emotion that Freddie instills into the pronunciation of this letter is heart-rendering; now, not only do you have your heart in your throat, it's also starting to shatter. That might cause a lot of esophogeal damage, but you decide to soldier on anyway. It is Queen, after all. Then comes 'e', the most commonly used vowel in the English language and, admittedly, one of the weakest. In all honesty, it's overused. It's a cliche. I really think the band could have found a better letter to put here, because Queen are known for pushing the boundaries, and for them to use the most oft-used letter ever is just a shame. However, that doesn't ruin the song! It's brought all back together with the letter 'a', which should be considered the glue of the song. It's this glue that reassembles your heart and also lines your esophogaus so that it suffers no further damage, and what a strong glue it is. But now, your heart is still ready to jump out of your mouth out of anticipation, and even though you know what's coming next, you still don't expect the impact that it will have. It all ends with, perhaps, the finest climax ever; as Barbara said, this song is the best song to make love to, and, if we could measure the song in terms of sex, the 'y' is foreplay; the 'e' is the tiresome sex; the 'a' is when it starts to get good; and the 'h' is the finale, the closer, the ending. All is right with the world when the final letter is uttered: the planets have aligned, the grass seems greener, air seems air-ier, the sky is bluer. Everything is perfect. Put it all together, and you have 'yeah'. Separately, they are good enough letters on their own - except that rogue 'e' - but together... it is something far better than anything on this Earth will ever realize. The finest four seconds of the album? No. The finest four seconds of your life. |

Plus, think about it: Yeah also answers a few questions posed by Queen's music: Was It All Worth It? Yeah. Is This The World We Created? Yeah. lol so this song pretty much sums up Queen's career. Yeah... |
DragonOnMyBack 08.11.2005 12:08 |
This may actually have been the only Made In Heaven track that Freedie performed live. If you listen to Somebody To Love from the Queen Live At The Bowl Milton Keynes concert, he expertly slips into the track on quite a few occasions. I does warrant the question when was this recorded? It may have been in the vaults for years but saved for use until that final perfect moment so everybody can look back and say genius one last time. |
DragonOnMyBack 08.11.2005 12:18 |
Just noticed Freddie even included it amoung his vocal improv with the crowd at the end of Now I'm Here, just before Dragon Attack on the same album. Gets a great response form the crowd, he must have been aware of how this track would be loved when it was final allowed to grace an album. |
Lester Burnham 08.11.2005 12:47 |
I think we can safely assume that 'Yeah' was the one Queen song performed live the most over the years than any other track. |

I've even heard Freddie do it during interviews. Does anybody have any idea exactly how many times it was performed? |

DragonOnMyBack 08.11.2005 16:15 |
It's very clear to me now that this is the one track that Freddie cared about the most during his lifetime. Just think about it, he recorded it on several occasions. Allowing it to sneek out on albums throughout his recording career as the only truly hidden track in the entire Queen Catalogue of Queen CD's. I mean how easy was it to find Track 13? He tested the track at every opportunity during his live performances. Coming to think about it the song Lost Opportunity might well refer to the 1983 gig in Dorog where he regretted not taking the chance to test it out on another new audience. Many times he tried out different variations to see how well each went down with the Fans. Often it was a tough decision so he repeated them one after the other to mark the subtle differences in the fans response. Only on the first album after his death was the masterpiece finally revealed to the public in all its glory, without the distraction of Brian's Guitar and Rogers Drums to keep the secret hidden. Although I think Roger was in on the plan. ( See may reference in the beakdown of the MIH Album to Roger's penned song "Heaven For Everyone"). If you listen carefully to the very start of track 12 you will also hear a little bit of Rogers drums which I believe was his way of saying ok we have hidden it for years now is the time to stop hiding it with drums and reveal the masterwork in it's purest form. There is even the hint in the track listing of Made In Heaven. Why is it that we have 2 versions of It's A Beautiful Day on the album. It must be obvious to all that this indicates the release of the album was only a tool to point to the masterpiece. It truly was such a beautiful day when the album came out and the masterpiece had finally been revealed that they had to say it twice. More evidence : It's A Beautiful Day - Celebrating the day the track was finally to be revealed in all it glory. Made In Heaven - Well it surely was. Let Me Live - The track begging to be released. Mother Love - The love of Freddie's life. Note the references to older Queen tracks that no doubt track 12 was hidden away in. Even the famous live DaHoos are mentioned. My Life Has Been Saved - Now the track is out true peace can be achieved knowing the public can hear it in all its glory. I Was Born To Love - A nod to the fact it was his life's work. I am still curious to try to track down Freddies first workings on this track. But I guess we won't get this until the long awaited box sets are finally released. I might have to revisit the Smile tracks to see if there are any early recordings that we may have missed. Heaven For Everyone - This came out originally around the time of Freddie first telling Roger of his plans and Roger thinking why wait get it out there and and let everyone hear it. Only once Freddie had gone did Roger transfer his feelings from his own work into the Queen domain, when he could finally reveal the masterstroke. Too Much Love Will Kill You - Unfortunately it did, a lifetimes work finally achieved but not around to see its glory. Brian had clearly tried to warned Freddie during the miracle sessions but he was to focused and driven to stop and take notice. You Don't Fool Me : A Winter's Tale : These are the two tracks that I find difficult to fit into the concept of the album. But I believe he was such a genius that the reasons for theses being included will only be revealed to us when we have all achieved divine enlightenment. It's A Beutiful Day (reprise) - as described earlier the hapiness was flooding out at this point and gives another hint to the true meaning of the album by focusing the mind on what is coming next. Then it comes in all it's glory...Track 12. YEAH And then track 13 Freddie taking his final trip in the knowledge of a job well done and happy it see the masterpiece has finally been given to the public. It all becomes so clear now. Pure Genius :-) We |

I've covered this one at work so many times myself: Do you like working here? Yeah. Is your immediate supervisor a jackass? Yeah. Are you aware your employment with this company will soon end? Yeah. Many are unaware that The Beatles actually paid homage to Queen BEFORE QUEEN EVEN FORMED AS A BAND with "She Loves You" (YEAH, YEAH, YEAH) It's uncanny the way John, Paul, George, and Ringo were so forward looking that they knew about "Yeah" far in advance of it actually being written and performed by Queen. Brilliant. Just effing brilliant. Notice how John always got top billing with The Beatles? Yeah. That's not the case with Queen. Yeah. |

well, on every live performances (from '78 onwards, i think!?) Freddie did wonderful vocal improvisations, which basically consisted in him saying 'Yeah' and the audience saying it back... So that's what I think about this track.. It's the last time Freddie will say 'yeah', as if he's waiting for us fans to say 'yeah' back to him... |
