OK, First of all I'd like to say that I was wonderful meeting some of you guys at the tailgate party. I was a bit upset that I didn't spot some of the people that I actually expected to meet, but I hope this won't be my last chance. So now my review... THE GOOD - The turn-out for the show was great. It was a complete sell-out and nearly half of the arena stood up through most of the show. The boring part of going to a show where the average age is around 40 is that people don't stand up even for the best songs. I've gone to see Aerosmith with a crowd of middle age people who don't even stand up for 'Walk This Way. Why even go to a rock concert when you're going to sit on your ass watching the show? That's why sometimes I rather go to shows with a fanbase of teens and people in the 20s. I was very surprised to see the whole crowd stood up and clapped their hands. It was awesome! - Roger Taylor was in great shape. Not only for drumming but for singing as well. I really look forward to see Roger performing again. - Brian was great all through out the show. His guitar solo was incredible, and he proved once again that he is still one of the best guitarists of all time. - Paul was quite decent for most of the Queen songs. Excellent performances of Free & Bad Company songs. Those songs were indeed done for him. Also kudos to him for showing great on stage showmanship, and being his true self while taking Freddie's place. THE BAD - Paul could hardly ever be heard through out the show. Perhaps next time the sound technicians should make sure that Paul can be heard louder because it seemed like Brian and Roger sounded far louder on guitar and drums. - Now, on the subject of Brian's guitar compared to Paul's voice, I think it was a bit too loud. Don't get me wrong, I love to hear music loud, but even something very loud gets to a point where it's just too loud. - Same set list. Good thing they didn't peform 'A Kind Of Magic' and 'I Want To Break Free', but why can't they perform 'It's Late', 'Now I'm Here' or 'Under Pressure'. THE UGLY - Sorry guys, but 35-40 bucks for a t-shirt is just too much. I've been to other concerts and for the most part the price of the t-shirts don't go past 30. It might not be Queen's idea to set those prices, but that's just too much. - I think Paul had once in a while a hardtime trying to fit into Freddie's shoes. I mean, can we really blame the guy for singing songs that weren't made for his voice? Nope, but I still give him my thumbs up for giving a very good performance. However, I gotta tell you that if they're planning on touring next year they should cut those ticket prices a bit. Aerosmith and Bon Jovi have their full line-up on their upcoming tour dates, and they're charging 75% less than Queen + PR. Now, if Queen had their full line-up with Freddie and John, then they could charge that and even more. However, this is still 1/2 Queen with someone who is singing songs that weren't particularly made for him to sing. Very good show, although I can't say excellent. MY REVIEW FROM (1/10): 8.5 |

Great show, Enjoyed meeting quite a few of you! The show was awesome, but it almost seemed like John was forgotten! And on the weird note, there were those random strangers walking up to me and taking pictures of me :s |

That was a great show though! Radio Ga Ga had to be my favorite performance of the night. Roger was just amazing. As for Paul, I give him credit man, I give him credit. It's hard to perform in the place a legend once performed with everybody watching your everymove for a fault of some sort, and keep a good spirit about it. Brian? He was indeed the 'Great Guitar God'! From the responce they recieved last night, they should definately be convinced to return in 2006. I enjoyed meeting you guys, if and when they come back and tour the U.S., we should get together and tailgate again. twas fun indeed. As for the photos, well you have to admit it was amusing! coppernite |

I agree with whoever said that was the "best fucking show of my life" sorry for the language. I think part of the reason is that....I don't know..there was this energy and feeling of closeness not only with everyone singing, clapping together but with the band....especially Brian. And also as someone said Brian was very sincere in all he said and did in Stage. And you can also get that feeling with what he wrote at Brianmay.com. The only bad thing was....the audio glitches, and on the screen you could see Brian making a face for the fans like yeah I know and sorry...which was funny. We all knew but didn't care. I got choked up when they were showing videos of Queen in their young days and of course Freddie, and these are the days of our lives. Roger sang GREAT and I do loive that song..is it out on cd?? those songs they wrote for 4664. But I have to say ever since I was young I always watched Queen concerts on video and never in my life would have thought I would see them play, do the hang clapping in radio gaga, sway my hands during we are the champions and just comletely sing all there songs as loud as I can with tons and tons of people. This is one of the greatest experiences of my life. You can say what you want about all the little things or songs they didn't do...but hey they played in America...or even just together again, and they rocked, they sounded great, they looked great and very happy, and the feeling was unbelievable. (but yeah....who sits at a concert??? especially Queen... come on now!!! LOL) |

What a GREAT night in NJ!! My kids (age 17 & 14) are huge Queen fans and I decided to get tickets to the show as a birthday present. Then this week better seats opened up for $125 in Section 7 near the stage and I decided to upgrade their seats (my husband & I sat a few sections back on the floor). What an awesome show!! I'm 51 so I remember the days of Freddie Mercury but I became completely immersed in the music through my kids playing it all the time over the past 4 years. The concert last night was "magical". I'm so glad they had those video clips of the band "back in the day" -- it was a touching tribute to Freddie. I have to say I was standing the whole time, singing and dancing to every song. My kids had such a BLAST! It was great that my husband and I could bridge the generation gap and share the experience with them!! Hey, what was with the night opening with music from Eminem (Lose Yourself)?? For a minute I thought I was at the wrong concert! BUT after the first song by Queen, I did LOSE MYSELF in the music! I'm so glad Queen decided to get themselves together and come to the USA. It was great to celebrate the music of Queen and remember Freddie. Eminem's song: You better - lose yourself in the music, the moment You own it, you better never let it go (go) You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow This opportunity comes once in a lifetime |

Absolute best show of my life. I've been to quite a few concerts, and this was one of those things that if you told me I'd be going to a year ago I would think it was a mean joke. Who would have thought that the first show they do in the states in 23 years is 40 minutes from my house. Aside from the obvious fact that no Freddie or John, I could not find one thing wrong with this show, not that I'd bother trying to look, but it was simply spectacular. Paul Rodgers did a great job as far as I'm concerned, and Brian and Roger were just as good as they ever were, if not better. Hope they come back again in the spring so I can see them again. |

Very similar to the curtain Aerosmith used on their Nive Lives Tour in '97. What I didn't like was why did they have to use 'Lose Yourself', which btw I gotta tell you that I love that song, but why use someone else's song when you have plenty of great songs to use as an intro. 'Procession' or 'Innuendo' would have been much better intros. |

I do have to say that you can almost always tell how Brian feels by the expression on his face. He really looked like he was very moved by all the people that came to see the show. He had a look of total suprise on his face for a good portion of the beginning of the show...then later on that changed to gratitude for the reception we all gave him, then the expression changed to HELL YEAH!!! He was definitely in good spirits and I am so glad. I was very worried that he would be in a bad mood bc of a technical glitch or something. We all know his moods. He just looked so grateful to be there. He really is just a normal person with feelings behind the guitar!! I have to keep reminding myself of that. He has no ego. He is just Brian! :) |

I was sad that I didn't get to the tailgate, but alas... I heard several Queen fans making similar comments to rats55...and I can appreciate the longing for a man long gone (and dearly missed). I guess I choose to appreciate WHAT IS and ignore WHAT CAN NEVER BE. (Apologies to Led Zep.) I also want to comment that I'm one of those people who likes to sit and listen to the band sometimes. I stood, sang and clapped for several songs...but other times, I just enjoy sitting comfortably and enjoying the band. Part of it was because I wasn't feeling all that great, and part is because I don't feel it's necessary to "rock out" every second to appreciate a concert. One important thing, though...I would never tell someone in front of me to sit down at a concert like that, because they do have the "right to rock." But I also have the right to sit, close my eyes, and enjoy the sound on it's own merit without someone commenting that I should "go home and watch the DVD". It's not at all the same experience. As for the show, it exceeded my expectations. Obviously the songs the band did are tailored to Rodgers' voice, so I thought he performed most of them very well. He's got a good stage presence, IMO. Not like Freddie, of course, but who did/does/ever will? I guess I don't get the criticism that he couldn't hit all of the notes Freddie did. Freddie brought down many high notes during concerts because he simply couldn't hit them every show without killing his voice. That's what made/makes Roger's backup vocals so important. The only song Rodgers really didn't pull off was "The Show Must Go On". That song screams for emotion that a few select rock singers can provide. It's not a rip on him...he simply can not duplicate the desperation in Freddie's voice when singing "I'll face it with a grin, I'm never giving in...on with the show!" I'm still happy they played it, though. It's just a great song. Seeing Brian May in person was akin to a Papal visit to me. Awe-inspiring. Even though the sound wasn't technically perfect, May's playing was. That was the quickest 10 minute solo I'd ever heard. The two people who I dragged to the show, who really didn't know him at all, were very impressed. I said kiddingly, "guys who get invited to meet the Queen are usually pretty good." His unique sound is imitated, but never duplicated. Hearing '39 and Love of my Life from May (and the audience) was probably the highlight of the show for me. I usually prefer to hear the band sing their songs than the crowd...especially the guy next to me who can't carry a tune. But without Freddie, the audience played an important role in this concert. Being in the building for that was amazing. (Thankfully, no one can carry in a guitar and try to play along with May. I did join the thousands of others in plucking a few riffs on my air guitar, however.) The Radio Gaga experience was similar...although unlike the others, that's not one of my favorite Queen songs. (That's a bit like saying chocolate isn't one of my favorite ice cream flavors...it's not like I'm going to turn it down when in the mood.) Even my neophyte friends enjoyed participating... I sat near a gentleman from Belfast, who was a bit worried about how mellow American crowds are in comparison to European ones. Generally, I think that assertion is correct. But Sunday night I thought the crowd was fantastic. I, like May, thought it got stronger as the night went on. Another nitpick I had was on Bo Rhap. I would have loved for them to cut back to video footage of Freddie singing "anyway the wind baa-loooows". Everything else they did for the song was perfect to me. I also was yearning for "It's Late"...would have loved to hear Rodgers try to sign it. He may have come up a bit short at the end, like in The Show, but... Although I love Roger's backup vocals, he's very limited as a lead vocalist. |

Hmmm...interesting. Didn't notice that, Fenderek. Thanks for pointing it out. I probably had my head in my hands thinking "Oh my god, I just saw Bo Rhap live!" From the tailgating, to the show, to partying at the Sheraton afterwards, we couldn't ask for anything more. A shame it was so windy. Wanted to be in the lot at 3pm, but arrived at 5 because of it. After a while, the cold definetely set in. Hey, no rain, so won't complain. Nice to meet a few people from this list for the first time, such as Mr Jingles and William (my wife had the black leather Queen crested jacket, I had on the Red Wing hat and Jazz tour jacket if anyone cares). It was great to meet my ol' Michigan friends, (nice black Red Wings jacket, Stacey!!!), to meet and provide taxi service for some UK fans back to the Sheraton afterwards. Julie Pie, Gina, Wendy Wright, Linda, Paul, Ray, Joan, Linda T, Joe and Susan from Connecticut, Bill, Tom, Dave, all others.... Wonderful to spend some time with Jacky again after a couple of years. And, hey Reuben, good to spend some time with you. Glad you got the chance to meet Ms. Smith and others. Hope your first Queen experience was a great one!!! The concert? A few demerits, but damn, what a great show altogether. I knew Eminem was coming up after 'A Beautiful Day'. Sigh. 'Procession' or the ADATR intro, the 'Innuendo' intro....anything but that. Pity about the curtain, wish the full version of '39 with some percussion would have been done. Blown away that Roger does drums for 'Car'. Always assumed he just did vocals, such as in Hollywood. Awesome!!!! He got a great roar when introduced, along with his one line of 'It's f*cking great to be back in America!'. A little more would have been nice. And so nice to be a kid again, singing along with LOML, finally getting to do the radiogaga, and the swaying of arms during WATC. My envy of the Europeans for the past 21 years, and not having the chance to do these for so long, is finally gone. A superb guitar solo. Great video at the end. Yes, us Yanks got the 'Queen's Jubilee' bit. Chinese Torture was that at times. 'Lost Horizon' was brilliant. BoRhap....didn't care for the video during the 'off the stage' segment. Always one of the best parts of a Queen gig, this took a bit away for me. Oh well. TSMGOn.....the one that Paul just CANNOT do. I knew that coming in. He should stay silent during the chorus, and get some backing at other spots. But, if not for him, there'd be no tour. It's good that he finally has a real good guitarist doing lead for the Bad Co tracks. Brian adds so much to these. Certainly looks to be enjoying himself with something different to play. The saddest part, as always......hearing the piano intro to WATC. You know the show's almost over. And you don't know if it'll ever happen again. To finish, what was the line that Elton John used years ago about Queen? 'It's a pity, having that big ol Ferrari, just sitting there parked, and no one to drive it' Well............on only two cyllinders, they still outclass 95% of what is out there. joe+susan+ |

Sometimes I got very brave and held my camcorder extended above my head as far as I could reach!! Those shots are AWESOME!!! I also got clear up close shots of Brian during 39' and LOML, almost the whole songs!! My battery died in the middle of SMGO. I only had 129 minutes of filming time...best I could do with no outlet. Thank you for two reasons- (a) for going to film the show and (b) filming it with sense; obstructions are a nuisance and it's good to see you moved to the screen at those points. Good job! |

Long time fan. I have seen Queen live 7 times on US Tours before - '76, '77, '78 '80 and 1982. I was unsure how the audience would respond to the band w/PR. I think the band was unsure itself on how the audience would respond to them as well. I agree with the comments that Rodgers seemed to loosen up after the band performed Bad Company and it was received very well. For the most part the whole performance went over very well! Great to see Brian (haven't seen him live since his solo album tour in early 90s) and awesome to see and hear Roger again. The light show was top notch as usual for Queen. I was disapointed there were no pyrotechnics at the end of TYMD or after the recorded section of BoRap, but that was minor. Bad Company was one of few bands I never had a chance to see live in the '70s....and to hear some of their better material banged out by Queen was an excellent part of the show. IMO a few songs like Its Late, Now I'm Here or even Dragon Attack would round out this show. Stone Cold Crazy anyone? i also liked the almost "unplugged" portion of Hammer to Fall. All in all a great, great show...one of the best in recent memory - probably only topped by the 3 hour performance RUSH provided on their R30 Tour. ps. the way Freddie was included via video of '86 Magic Tour on BoRap was one of the highpoints of the evening. |

When Brian started playing the intro to the acoustic "Hammer" i seriously thought for about a minute he was starting to play "It's Late". It sounded so similar! Did anyone else think this?? God that would have been something....hearing "Hammer" was great but "Late" would have been awesome too! |

Yes,,,i beleive you are right. There were times when it seemed they would start off a song slowly like this, as if Brian was thinking: "Hmm...should i play it or should'nt i?" :) I have posted my review of the show on QOL. 'It's a pity, having that big ol Ferrari, just sitting there parked, and no one to drive it' Well............on only two cyllinders, they still outclass 95% of what is out there. joe+susan+Yeah I saw you. |

I'm back from New York (my friend and I hung around for a couple more days, mainly to sight-see), and the overall experience of NY was amazing, never mind the concert. The band had such an incredible sound live, and I didn't think Paul's vocals were too quiet. He was incredible, as were Brian and Roger. Roger's drumming was fantastic. In fact, my friend, who is a very serious drummer, said Roger's snare rolls were clean as a whistle. I honestly think this is the very best Queen can do without Freddie Mercury. Great setlist, although I personally would have liked to see them play more older stuff. They played the songs that pleased the majorty, and alive the majority were. The audience was totally involved in every point in the set they could have been. There are always a few smartasses in a US audience laughing and talking during the slow songs, and I almost smacked the guys in front of me during LOML. Yeah, the curtain fell too early - before TYMD even started. That really disappointed me. Still, the show was amazing. But if they're charging this kind of money next year, and they don't change up the setlist, then I'll go to only one more show. Now, about the Tailgate party... it was awesome meeting you all: William + wife, Iron Eagle, Forever88 (you really had your Freddie moves down; doing the BoRhap guitar thing with you was fun!), Jingles + girlfriend (we could have talked all night!), Erin, Daniel Nester, Cindy, Kelly + Hilary (from either Breakthru or QOL... I can't remember), and Miss Bea Haven (the shirt rocked!)... and whoever else I've forgotten about! Lester Burnham didn't show, which is disappointing, as I really wanted to see if your wit was there in real life! And no Lisser either - but I think I saw you at the hotel breakfast on Monday morning, but I was half-dead at that hour, and didn't make the connection that it could have been you until you had left! I didn't see Goo either. Hope you all had a blast, as I didn't see most of you after the show - just at the tailgate party. I totally want to do it again, just for the party alone. That was a lot of fun! edit: Jingles + girlfriend (we could have talked all night!) Whoops, a tad of ambiguity in that statement! Hahaha...! |

For me this was an experience I never thought i'd have. Seeing them live in NJ proved to me what amazing musicians they are. Brian and roger only half of queen gave me a night to remember. the legendary red special was superb, roger's drums just thundered away. Along with the foot stomping, hand clapping and screams, the magic of the moment wrapped all of us. This was definitely the greatest show i've ever seen and can't wait to see them again.
