Please tell me there will be a new set list for the show in NJ. By the time it gets here I will have listened to ROTC about 75 times and I'd like to hear something new.... |
Jimi 21.09.2005 19:06 |
Don't get your hopes mate. We expected a rolling set list in the UK nad got very little but top ten hits. Fire and Water was performed in Ireland but still no sign of Its Late which is surely the most naturally suited to PR in the Queen cannon. Its a great performance all the same. Don't get drawn into the cd too much. |
Smitty 21.09.2005 19:48 |
I could see them taking out most of the 80's stuff. Not many American Queen fans I know can listen to Radio Ga Ga without cringing, switching to the next track, or laughing ecstaticly and almost driving their car off the road after hearing the words Radio Ga Ga Radio Goo Goo. |
Mr. Mercury 1975 21.09.2005 20:28 |
A man can wish...I guess. I must be a Brit at heart (get to go to England twice a year for work), because I'm much more suited to the British/Euro crowd when it comes to concerts... Queen in particular. Sing alongs are great and what would probably be considered more obscure Queen hits (Ga Ga) here in the States are really a staple of their repetoire in my eyes.... I saw Brian open for Guns & Roses in '93 here in the States. Never thought I'd get to see him again... nevermind any incarnation of Queen. I'm dearly hoping for a full blow U.S. tour in 2006... |

I may have an extra ticket...not sure yet. stay tuned... |

I have been thinking about the set list & whether or not it gets changed. With the Japan tour following immediately after the LA gig they will want to be very sharp. Playing the 80's music in Japan will be expected since it was all a hit back in 84 & 86. So they will perform GaGa & Break Free & AKOM, as well as TATDOOL in both NJ & LA to stay tight for the Japanese fans. I can't see them making a radical change for only 2 or 3 nights, if you include Aruba. This is gonna be it. Oh how I hope to be wrong! |

Without the extra song(s) of course! I guess the upcoming setlists will really show which markets Brian and Rog are interested in. :/ |
DrumBrother 22.09.2005 15:59 |
I think with Paul being a big artist in the states, they might do a few more of his songs. The Hunter, My Brother Jake, The Stealer, maybe even Radioactive from his days with Jimmy Page. By the way Fire And Water was brill in Dublin, pity a recording of that show hasn't surfaced as it was the best of the four I saw and of all the recordings available from the rest of the tour it's the one I'd most like to hear |
Mr. Mercury 1975 22.09.2005 16:33 |
I'm not so sure I'd say Paul is a bigger artist in the States. Without the Queen label to play under, Paul Rodgers wouldn't sell out a shoe box in the the States. In one of the interviews I heard with Brian, he stated that it had always been a dream of theirs to come back to the States and play again. So, I'm not convinced this is going to be just a warm up for the Japan shows. I think the boys will be more than a bit pleasantly surprised just how much their following has grown here in America. I'm not sure how long it took for the entire NJ show to sell out, but the pre-sale sold out in 4 minutes. If I had looked away for 2 minutes, I would have missed my chance... |
DrumBrother 22.09.2005 18:32 |
What I meant is that he has toured the states a few times in recent years, with Styx a few years ago I think and of course a big Bad Company tour. As we know it's been 23 years since Queen did it and although they'll be the main attraction for the American audience, Paul is not unknown there and deserves to have his material slightly increased in the setlist. They could drop AKOM, the drum solo and lets face it, do we really need to hear Brian's guitar solo again. |
The Stealer 22.09.2005 21:52 |
I would like to see a set list change and even emailed Brian about it. They have to play Now I'm here...it is such a US song. I think they should remove Break Free and Kind of Magic..no one really cares about those songs. I think they should add another PR song since he has a bigger following over here...Rock-n-roll Fantasy, Silver,Blue and Gold, Rock Steady, Fire and Water. I was at the Belfast show and thought thought FAW sounded great..in fact of the seven shows I saw Belfast was the best.. |
Mr. Mercury 1975 23.09.2005 08:34 |
No!!! Do not remove I Want to Break Free!!!!! |
The Stealer 23.09.2005 08:56 |
psteeler wrote: No!!! Do not remove I Want to Break Free!!!!!It's the weakest song in the set..the song does not resonate with US fans as it does in Europe |
Jimi 23.09.2005 09:19 |
It didn't resonate with me either. Neither does AKOM or AOBTD.I just think there is better stuff available that suits Paul more. |
Saint Jiub 23.09.2005 22:35 |

Saint Jiub 23.09.2005 22:37 |
Dump Radio GaGa, I Want to Break Free and A Kind of Magic, but keep Another One Bites The Dust (biggest US hit) ... and add Breakthru and Made in Heaven to breath some life into an unimaginative setlist. |
Wiley 23.09.2005 23:11 |
touring the US??? Taking as a reference the Sheffield gig (including UP), just drop IWTBF off the set and play It's Late and an old rockers medley (NIH/KYA/Liar) ending with a Brighton Rock-esque reprise or something like that. Add Fire and Water and some other PR's song and that's one hell of a good gig for the American audience. Made in Heaven and Breakthru are very unlikely to be performed ever, IMHO. What do you think? Wiley |
Going Back 24.09.2005 14:24 |
they could play more songs on ''The miracle, Innuendo, Made In Heaven'' album. brian sang on hist tour ''headlong'' quite good and he sings ''too much love will kill you'' amazingly. When roger sang ''heaven for everyone'' on cross tours it was great, he sang it very good, it shoud be on setlist. the miracle would be great song for croud to sing along, innuendo would sound perfect(music part for sure, don't conw how paul can sing it but i'm sure brian or roger can sing it great) A winters tale would be great on setlist, let me live, the hitman and ofcourse scandal too. and from album ''A Kind Of Magic'' gimme the prize or princes of the universe. i cnow that is impossibe all those songs to get on setlist but some of them would be great. |
deleted user 24.09.2005 14:36 |
i think No One But You and Too Much Love will Kill You should come into the set list, drop AKOM, that sucked ass! Break Free im unsure cos that had a bad impact on the band in the US, some tracks from Made In Heaven should be added in cos that was a major seller over in the US i believe, Let Me Live, etc. Breathru should be given a chance but doubt we will ever see that. |
Going Back 24.09.2005 14:58 |
omg i forgot no one but you, this one should be deffenetly at setlist, but not with paul... : ) |
likecats 24.09.2005 17:27 |
Since my exposure to Queen music dates back to the '70's, I would like to hear more tracks from that era. I would really like to hear Ogre Battle, Stone Cold Crazy, and Brighton Rock (the whole thing, not just a guitar solo), but I don't they'll ever play them again. It would be great if they at least added Now I'm Here and It's Late. I think Paul Rodgers' voice and style would work with those. I believe Spread Your Wings would work too. I would also really like to hear Innuendo. As far as more Paul Rodgers songs...I like him but I've heard him sing Free and Bad Company songs on stage in the last few years, whereas I haven't heard Queen live since 1982, so I would rather they didn't add more PR songs if it means dropping Queen songs from the setlist. No offense intended to Paul Rodgers, I'm just Jonesing for live Queen. |
Jimi 25.09.2005 17:16 |
great post. You sound like an English rocker! |
Grantcdn 28.09.2005 02:23 |
They could easily drop Break Free, AKOM, and Ga Ga but I doubt they will since it's only two shows in the states this time and loaded with their fans.....When they come back in the spring they may make some major alterations to their set list.....I really hope however that they make some change....so even the UK/Europe fans will be hunting down copies of the shows |
dimcyril 30.09.2005 07:23 |
i always thought that paul rodgers would make a good job of who wants to live forever |

Something a bit off-topic, but I wondered if the "Official Live Downloads" thing will continue? I hope so, especially when they're going to play 'new' songs... |

Compliance Queen wrote: I am almost certain IWTBF and Kind of Magic will be dropeed from the list for at least the US shows..So come on, what do you think, they'll play instead of IWTBF and AKOM? Just a shorter set or something really 'surprising'? If I'd be to guess: It would not be that unlikely, that KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE could turn up during the US leg of the tour. IWTBF would actually be no loss, either if replaced or not, but dropping AKOM would mean, there would be no more tune from the AKOM album? As it had been reported, that they have rehearsed ONE VISION, even during some of the soundchecks, this could be an option for a replacement to AKOM. What's left of what we know was rehearsed? DRAGON ATTACK maybe? Did they rehearse HEADLONG? As that seems be one of most probable additions to the set list so far. Any more ideas? |

lol what if just take a picture camera they wouldnt take that away from me would they? |
Jjeroen 07.10.2005 03:24 |
Nah, they probably wouldn't. You should have seen it over here at the shows: a SEA of camera's, all the time. But I would hide it somewhere nevertheless. Security guards can be the biggest pricks alive. If the 'wrong' guy searches you at entry, you never know... (But don't worry either way: you get everything back after the show. They are legally obliged to do that. So it is always worth the chance.) |
Jjeroen 07.10.2005 03:49 |
And going back on topic: Brian in his soapbox says that they DID do some changes to the setlist!! Intersting! |

Jjeroen 07.10.2005 06:39 |
Well, remember that Dragon Attack and One Vision have both been heard at rehearsals in Europe. Playing Dragon Attack would indeed make sence in the States (though for me personally I would never pick that song as a wanna-hear)... One Vision does fit Paul's voice and personally I would love to hear them do that. |

What he meant with with remerber the old one was clearly about the songs they allready played on the tour so no hopes for that. Maybe it is good for them to play some christian songs :-) Jesus, All Gods People, Mad the Swine....he that is strange all songs I like and I'm not even a christian :-) I should become one |
Fenderek 07.10.2005 08:43 |
Apparently they ahsn't seen each other since Hyde Park. So my bet would be on either the ones already rehearsed (Sleeping On The Sidewalk, Dragon Attack) OR the ones they rehearsed before the tour and abandoned, now decided to play again... I wish they had that brilliant idea in July though ;S |
Fone Bone 07.10.2005 09:26 |
Alas, the probability of QPR rehearsing Innuendo in 30' between sips of margarita and sessions of tuba diving is indeed very remote. ;-P |

'tuba diving'?? lol!! ;-) I think Danny 'the midget' Miranda will be the only one who might fit in there :-) |

People were snapping pictures left and right all night and the band seemed not to care in the least. The security to get in was good. They checked bags and ran people over with a metal detector, and no cameras were taken nor anyone told not to take pictures. I've got a roll of film from the show myself, waiting to be developed. And a friendly word of caution, folks, about getting your hopes up about big changes to the set. Its not what a lot of you were expecting or hoping, at least in Aruba. They may make more changes for NJ and LA, but based on the set they played Saturday night, just try not to get your expectations up too high because you will be disappointed - at least in the set. Short of expecting Freddie to rise from the grave, I can't see how anyone could be disappointed with the way that band performed Saturday night. They knocked it way way out of the park. |
PieterMC 10.10.2005 10:01 |
I think that there is still a chance of small changes for the US shows. |
Sherwood Forest 10.10.2005 16:23 |
good to hear all this hope for set list changes for the US i think i will try and borrow a camera from someone that has nice zoom on it and just take it with me(develope it in my photo class or something)....i was reading a magazine and i saw an add for a kodak digital camera and they had half of the camera sticking out of a card box, and i was like Wow! maybe ill just do that- put my camera in a card box. Then again all the security gaurds in the US seem to have a stick up their asses about something so they would prolly check it and send it to be checked over for explosives. |
kansas666 11.10.2005 09:31 |
I heard in Aruba they dropped '39, A Kind of Magic, I Want to Break Free and Wishing Well. They added Bad Co. and Rock and Roll Fantasy. It kinda makes sense. I hope they add one or 2 early rockers for the U.S. shows like Liar or Now I'm Here. See you in Hollywood |
