Paul Rodgers is inadequate as a lead vocal as far as I'm concerned. Brian & Roger should do the singing between 'em - I would have looked forward to seeing that. Now I have to go just for the sake of going and that ain't right. I dare say I'll get blancmanged and have a rare old time, more than likely pulling a fine piece of skirt and diddling her stupid back at The Towers, but that's not the point. Paul Rodgers? Might as well have been Paul Daniels. Or Ted Rodgers. Never heard of the bloke until t'other week. 'One hit wonder', wasn't he? Well I can't think of any more. I'd ask if he's been in jail for the past 30 years, but he probably couldn't even get arrested. It leaves a sour taste does all this, y'know. I know I'm bitter by nature, but this takes the fucking horsechestnut this does. It takes the fucking carrot. He'll murder those songs. It's a good job I'll be half-goosed, it might improve his bloody din. He's not got the voice for it. Nobody has. So they might as well leave it. I'll still go and see 'em, though. |
Brian_Mays_Wig 20.12.2004 13:13 |
To be honest with you Flashy, I feel as though I'm gonna go just for the sake of it, as if I'm supposed to be there. If JD were to appear then I might be a lot more enthusiastic. |
Flashman 20.12.2004 14:54 |
It'd be nice to see John, but as Sir Archie pointed out to me t'other night between drunken belches, that would only mean that John has sold out as well. |
Mayboy 20.12.2004 15:05 |
Ted Rodgers?? could never do that 3,2,1 thing from his game show lol..anyway i think im going to go for the sake of it, might be the last chance to see Brian and Roger live so i guess u get something out of it maybe.... |

Up until a few weeks ago, I admit I hadn't heard of Paul Rodgers. But then I saw his below par renditions of We Will Rock You and Champions on the UK Hall Of Fame, and quite frankly, I was embarrassed. And don't forget, I've got more front than Blackpool prom, so it takes a bit to redden my old cheeks. Admittedly, the sight of the taxman in the driveway does the same job. Or an enraged husband bursting in unannounced, and me in just my wellies... I've lost my thread now. Oh aye, this chap Rodgers. Anyroad, I could forgive Brian and Roger that - surely just a drunken one-off, I summised. But no! They're off on tour with him! We don't want that! We want you on your own, Brian and Rog - the two true rock Gods of our time. Your voices haven't gone yet, you could do it between you after a couple of shots. Of valium and brandy. But Paul Rodgers? That's a plumber's name. In fact, that's probably what he's been doing these past 30 years! Come in handy if you get your big toe stuck in the tap, but go on tour with him? Do me a lemon. |

I don't care who sings. I just want to see them perform. |
Noizeemama 20.12.2004 21:23 |
Have you people been under a rock all these years!!!??? Paul Rogers is a great singer...But I don't know how well he will pull off Queen songs. Sure he's no Freddie Mercury...But there is NO ONE that can replace him. You just have to deal with that fact people! Roger and Brian should go on not as Queen but as themselves just like many other musicians have done. And Paul Rogers sure beats the hell out of that "pretty boy"...what is his name?...Robbie Williams? By the way, for you people who seem to go no further than listening only to Queen...Paul Rogers was the singer for Bad Company. And Bad Company would not sound right without him! So much for your "one hit wonder" theory people!!! |
Noizeemama 20.12.2004 21:27 |
And yes I realized I spelled Rodgers wrong AFTER I hit the post button! |

and what exactly does this thread have to do with pissing on graves.. I mean, hey, I thought there were people here that were pissing on graves too, and then I was gonna come in and tell you about the time I did that to this one grave.. but. I see it REALLY has nothing to do with actually PISSING.. Shit.. Talk about misleading topics... as Eric Cartman would say.."Screw you guys.. I'm goin home" |

Saying that Brian and Roger should tour alone is bullshit. Crap, indeed. Brian and Roger just can't do a show (and we're not talking about a tour) on their own. It would be really pathetic. So if they want to tour, they need a singer. And they realise they need a singer. Whether Paul Rodgers is a fine choice, I just can't say, but it's certainly a better option than a QUEEN1/3 Tour. 1/3 because Brian and Roger are getting older. It would be hilarious to think they still can perform as it would be september '81. A Queen 1/3 Tour (though it would be a smashing tour name) would give the world plenty of reasons to make fun (again-Queen, oh, that gay band, Queen? Oh, totally overrated, blablabla) of Queen. Your beloved kompis, Paultje! |

I don't doubt that folk will flock to see 'em and all have a capital time and they'll get a thunderous reception. But people will only be going just 'for the sake of it'. They won't be led there by their hearts. People have started making general chit-chat about it with me, knowing I'm a Queen fan, and I've found myself defending the boys despite my misgivings. "It'll probably be alright", I'll say, "It's a night out, I suppose" and "Get off my land!" I don't want to be defending 'em, for goodness sake. I can't be arsed for one thing. I want to be FRANTIC to see 'em, baring my gnashers and challenging small fellows to fight over the tickets. Six years I've waited! Six long years! And for what? "Oh yes, we're off on tour with him from 3-2-1 with a voice like a Grizzly farting!" It won't wash, don't you see? And as for those that say do your research before you go slagging folk off. Damn your eyes! I'll slag him off all I like. It's part of my job as a complete and utter bastard. I have no desire to qualify my malicious outbursts against the chap by listening to examples of his racket. I've heard him once and that's enough for me. It's like sprouts. No it is, bear with me. You have 'em once and the only reason you ever have them again is by kidding yourself they're good for your digestion. The only reason for wanting to listen to Paul Rodgers is because he's singing with Brian and Rog. And don't go saying you like sprouts, because no sane person would believe you. We would all be far more excited by a Brian and Rog tour than a Brian, Rog and NE Other tour. "Tough shit" say you, "because that's what we're getting." Then I suppose I shall just have to lump it. He's still a gimp, though. |

I agree with you Flashman. Having only just joined this website and having a look around the other forums most people are up in arms about this and the general consensus is that Paul Rodgers is not really up to the task. I think that what we all really aren't happy about is that Brian & Roger are trying to pass this off as Queen. Queen didn't have female backup singers on stage generally speaking. Queen WAS the four original members. But what can we do people??? Its not like they are going to listen to us. Its not like they aren't going to rake in the money doing this. Because I have to admit that if the boys do travel down under I'm going to be there just to see them live since I never got see them originally. But your right Flashman, this music they are doing now just doesn't have the same heart and soul. It doesn't feel like Queen. That's because its not Queen - simple as that. |
GonnaUseMyPrisoners 23.12.2004 00:38 |
so don't buy any tickets, then, ya judgmental little prick! let those of us with open minds go in your stead. have a nice quiet evening at home instead sipping tea by the fire. |
Daniel Duret 23.12.2004 10:53 |
I'm just glad I get the chance to see at least 2 members of Queen before they all end up dead. And I think Rog en Brian do this more just because they want to than anything else. I sure as hell am going to pay to see those old farts rocking my socks off! |

Well Said BellyDancer. I said just about the same thing in an earlier thread and got the old 'blah blah blah.... they can do what they want with the name queen... blah blah blah... you're so narrowminded... blah blah.' crap that that so often put forward in replies to the truth - that being that Brian, Roger (who is looking more and more like a tramp every day - makes me warm to him a little), old Grizzly Fart (lovely image Flashman) a RHYTHM GUITARIST (!!!?!?) five slags shaking their bums and Spike do not a queen show make! They Make sunday night at the london Palladium, and I for one find it rather sickening. At least if my lord and master (JD) was playing, he might bring some sanity to it, but I think he has the same view as most of the rest of us on this thread. The age of Queen is over, so cherish the memories, love the music with all your hearts, and move along. |
YourValentine 31.12.2004 10:37 |
I am not telling anyone to go and see the tour. I don't want to be told I am an idiot if I go and I definitely will. What I really find sickening in this whole discussion is that people suggest all kind of motives and agendas when Brian and Roger only want to do what they miss in their lives: go and play some decent music to people who appreciate it. It took 13 years for them to find a way how they can tour together and why in the world should they feel bad about that - or the people who are looking forward to it? John Deacon won't be there, he has reasons for that and we should not claim to know these reasons. All of you who applaud him for being the "decent" one who knows that Queen is over etc - you do not know if John Deacon thinks that way, he might have other reasons for not playing anymore. We all know that this tour will not be the same as it used to be. But Freddie is dead and John retired. Brian and Roger did not wish for that, they had to cope with the situation and now they do what they could have done 10 years ago if they were the greedy bitches some of you seem to think they are - they go back on stage and play some concerts with another singer. I'll go and see the shows and if they are bad I spent some euros for a bad concert, that's not the first time it happened to me. I don't expect PR to be Freddie or to be like him or trying to be like him. He is a musician who plays a tour with some old friends - there is nothing blasphemic about it at all. Sometimes Queen fans behave like a sect who freak out when an "usurper" dares to claim the thrown of the dead prophet - it's just a bloody band, people. |
Bizon 31.12.2004 12:12 |
geeeez people most of you probably consider themselves a rock fans and you've never heard of a band called Free before? their "fire and ice" (1970) LP is probably one of the best rock records of the 70's... i can agree that they had only 1 hit single but that doesn't mean they were not known... don't make me even more depressed sayin' that you've never heard "all right now" beofre the hall of fame show... and paul rodgers was said to be one of the greatest rock singers... and he is one of only few of those 70's stars that still has his voice in good shape... i always thought that gary cherone would be a perfect singer for queen if they go on tour again but i'm as well pleased of the choice they've made... |
Ray D O'Gaga 02.01.2005 15:48 |
Freddie doesn't have a grave to piss on. He was cremated. I enjoy being annoyingly literal sometimes. And Queen + Paul Rodgers will be great, do a great tour and make many people around the world very happy. Get over it, naysayers, and more importantly, get over yourselves. Life is for the living and it moves on whether you like it or not. If the rest of you want to mourn and wallow in the past and wear ashes and sackcloth for the rest of your lives, be my guest. Freddie's been gone a long time, so let's the rest of us enjoy what we have now while we still have it, because Brian and Roger won't be around forever either. |
jericho05 02.01.2005 22:46 |
If you only ever listen to Paul Rodgers because he's touring with Brian and Roger then at least you will discover one of the great vocalists in rock! Good job. Listen to Wishing Well by Free. |
