I can hardly type this topic because the tears are rolling onto my keyboard and causing short-circuits...engergland denied a place in the semi-finals of the european championships because of a quote "dodgy" refereeing decision. but wait! that wasn't in the script! the commentators had us believe that england were to play france in the final!! shurely shome mishtake? (did i mention that my tears were those of the laughter variety?)
Dodgy refereeing decisions or not, England deserved to go out for making the same mistakes as they did against France - I.e. defending too deep, no midfield creativity, giving the opposition too much tim on the ball, little creativity going forward (in the absence of Rooney), lack ofstamina and concentration and generally very little sense of a positive gameplan or any response to Portuguese tactics from Sven.
All England fans currently crying into their beers take heart, you'll be over this within days.
Ugh, I loathe the sport but woke up this morning to see that kick. What a fucking Barry Crocker! I reckon the game was rigged so Beckham can put another 90 trillion dollars in his wallet.
Yeah..think about it!
What a hell of a match, at least it was 100% entertainment. I was sorry for England that they had to go on without Rooney after only 30 minutes and regarding this, they did fight. Got weaker in the second half but they came back during over-time.
I think James did his best match yesterday.
It was a mistake though to let Beckham make the first penalty.
I think this was a match that didn't deserve a loser.
I was supporting England but I'm happy for Portugal. They did a good job.
And their trainer is Brazilian. ;-)
Stand tall, mighty England. Bask in the knowledge that all those who delight in your woe are jealous simpletons from tinpot nations or former colonies, who would long ago have fallen without your aid.
Both teams played really well but Portugal deserved to win. England was too defensive in the last minutes of the game and in the whole overtime.
Did anybody think Beckham could score from the penalty kick?

No, and that's the problem. All eyes were on Beckham in this moment and everybody was waiting for him NOT to score. How could Erikson let him shoot the first one??
Beckham is the sixth Spice Girl and he sucks
I really hoped England would win
But now my thumbs are up for Portugal, cause Figo and Cristiano Rolando are my fav players and they play for Portugal
I seem to be the only person who saw a game where England played an 8-0-2 formation from the point Rooney went off onwards.
And although the referee was probably incorrect, it's the same sort of decision that every ref on the planet has been giving for the best part of twenty years, so shouldn't be a surprise.
Hangman....no abuse for Shanyaks laughter...?
