Apart from Queenzone, which are your favourite Queen related websites and why? Which websites do you visit frequently, maybe even daily and why? Please share them with us, thanks. |

link the best! |
Penis - Vagina 27.05.2004 15:02 |
Being interested in alternate versions and such, Adam Unger's Queen Webworks is always great for reference: link And of course, RonB's Queen! Picture Hall is probably the best all-around Queen resource in my opinion: link But I have exactly 50 Queen pages favouritized. |

Mr. Scully 28.05.2004 03:02 |
Paul, you like my site??? ;-) That must have hurt to admit that ;-) I don't visit Queen sites almost at all but if I had to recommend one, it would be Sebastian's link link was a good idea and it's programmed in a professional way. link is a site with zero content BUT an excellent design. Ron's Queenpicturehall is great for prices of Queen records. |
Plengel 28.05.2004 04:52 |
Talking about Queensites, what happened to Rien's Site???? link |
[StArMaN] 28.05.2004 04:59 |
Content wise, I really like link - link and link, loads of things etc... Design wise my vote go to Pim IWIA Zero content, but clear and efficient design. |
YourValentine 28.05.2004 08:43 |
My question was meant to find out why people visit a website very often (for example - to check the notice board). It's interesting that as yet nobody named QOL, Queenworld.com and Brianmay.com as a favourite website. |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 28.05.2004 08:49 |
link link (he seems to have exceeded his bandwidth and is temporarily offline. * joke mode on * Brianmay.com and Queenonline.com are obvious, YV. I don't know about the others, but I didn't mention them because I want to look smart. :) * joke mode off * |
Mr. Scully 28.05.2004 09:36 |
Brianmay.com is very good for fresh news and used to be interesting until somewhen last year when Brian started using it only for commenting world politics and WWRY musical. QOL and QueenWorld don't need any comment I think. |

Anybody remember the 'Mother of all Queen web sites'....QUEEN HEAVEN. Still un-rivalled after all these years. |
Rien 28.05.2004 12:43 |
Indeed all great sites that are mentioned here. And thanks for mentioning mine as well. Yeah, it is down indeed because of using up all the bandwidth. (Just after I upgraded my site to a business level... well thank god I'm not depending on my site for some business...) It will be back at the end of next week I guess. |
iron eagle 28.05.2004 19:04 |
Scully Scully Scully-- it didnt hurt at all to say I like your site and visit it often. :-)) |

Mercuryparadise.com QueenConcerts.com Two great sites, keep up the great work guys! :D oh and sometimes Queenfind.com |
YourValentine 30.05.2004 05:37 |
What I don't like about Queenfind.com is the "rating". According to Queenfind.com the best Queen related website in terms of content, design and most votes is link Sorry, but this cannot be true. The website is offline most of the time. |

What's the address for Queen Heaven? |
Mr. Scully 30.05.2004 08:20 |
I remember QueenHeaven very well. It had a nice Queen disctionary and the Queen tour of London plus some news. But the design was terrible, the page was quite simple and the webmaster was constantly bitching how expensive it was to run a web site; I didn't like that. |
Brian's sweet sister 30.05.2004 14:57 |
link that as people may know is Queen forever; a brilliant site with lyrics which has it's own search engine and everything you need to know also link that is a Queen karaoke site, which I love to access when I am in the singing mood. sorry but I am also a devout member of link sneer all you want the people who rival it LOL. oh and link mainly for the awesome Queen gallery; it's brilliant. It has rare and beautiful pics of Queen from the 70s and their glorious tour of Japan! BTW what has happened to the gallery on this site? I can't seem to access it. :s |
Adam Unger (QueenVault.com) 30.05.2004 21:07 |
Thanks for the compliment jeffrey... now if i can just get the damn website done sometime soon. Graduating university just gave me a bunch of spare time though :) |
Saint Jiub 30.05.2004 21:19 |
Gasp. I bet Queen Heaven had the audacity to use the Times New Roman font. Didn't the webmaster at Queen Heaven realize that style is more important than substance? I bet most visitors to queenconcerts.com are more pleased with the the website content, and could give two shits about the website design - much to Mr. Scully's dismay. Yes - Mr. Scully's queenconcerts.com is one of the better Queensites out there - but it is primarily because of the content rather than the design. |
Spiderleg Synthia 31.05.2004 15:23 |
Elle's Queen Page link is a great feelgood page I've found. Leaves you feeling proud to be a Queen fan and with a big smile, and also has analyses which are always interesting to read, even if you don't agree. |
Mr. Scully 01.06.2004 04:19 |
Bullwinkle, you can think whatever you want but I think I know a little bit more about web design than you. And Queen Heaven was shit from designer's point of view. My first attempts for a Queen web site back in late 90's were shit too, no doubt about that. |
[StArMaN] 01.06.2004 04:59 |
Hello ! Don't wanna sound "big-headed" but, as we are in a "webdesign mode" I think my site link can compete with some of the best design-wise, and maybe content-wise (even if it's french). There is a lot of sections with graphical content only such as gallery, fonts, home-made wallpapers, etc.. etc.. I'm sorry if this post annoys you :( cheers !! adrien |
S@turn 01.06.2004 05:32 |
I have 3 favorite queensites, one is this queenzone, the others are Mercuryparadise.com and QueenConcerts.com There are many other good sites, or were in the past, like andys' and queenheaven It costs a lot of time to make a real great website with content and layout and I think that Rien and Scully are good examples of great sites made by private persons And as for having comment on the outlook or whatever of sites, it is so easy to do that, but it is another thing to add something constructive That should be more my challeng, tho I know that this destructive message is a contradiction (argh, can someone call my psychiatrist?) |
Mr. Scully 01.06.2004 06:31 |
Adrien, I agree with you, QueenFrance is good. |
michael gottlieb 02.06.2004 07:00 |
I can highly recommend link ! It's a wonderful site and a guide through all the available Queen bootlegs. Enjoy ! |
Pim Derks 02.06.2004 08:43 |
Two words about bootlegsheaven: COMIC SANS!?!? |
Mr. Scully 02.06.2004 10:23 |
Pim, you shouldn't criticize fonts, otherwise our expert Bullwinkle will explain to you how unimportant it is :-) The site is not useful at all anyway (from my point of view). |
queenrocks! 10902 02.06.2004 13:36 |
Here are my favourite Queen websites. 10. Queen Words.com 9. Queen Find.com 8. Calimero Queen Website 7. One Night Of Queen/Gary Mullen & The Works 6. The Official International Queen Fan Club. 5. Brian May.com 4. Queenfans.com 3. Mr.Mercury.co.uk 2. Queen Online(If they ever update it!) 1. QueenZone.com(Of course!) |
Mr. Scully 03.06.2004 03:37 |
Queenrocks - I've always wondered what the international fc web site offers? Does it have something the other sites don't? |
Pim Derks 03.06.2004 05:51 |
Well, the fanclubpage DOES have a merchandise-page which has been saying 'coming soon' for months now... Don't think much other sites have that ;-) |
Plengel 03.06.2004 06:09 |
My favorite sites: link (just for fun) link (Nice design, great info about concerts) link (For the sleeves and info on different releases) link (Great site with info on all different versions of Queen/Solo songs, you really should finish it Adam :)) Also two bootlegsites I like to visit for the nice artwork and bootleg reviews: link link |
Freddie May 03.06.2004 07:05 |
Does someone know what happened with link ? It was an interesting website :-/ |
Mr. Scully 03.06.2004 07:23 |
I think Darren closed his site, it's indeed a pity, it was an interesting site. |
queenrocks! 10902 03.06.2004 13:24 |
Well Mr. Scully not a lot really the good thing about that site is that you can download wallpapers for your computer |
Pim Derks 03.06.2004 16:25 |
Wallpapers don't make a good site. It's the OFFICIAL fanclub for god's sake - I'd expect a bit more then some wallpapers and other stuff I can find everywhere. |
Saint Jiub 03.06.2004 22:52 |
Well, Mr. Scully, I am glad I am not a web design expert, if it means that I don't whine about fonts or complain that the web design is not perfect, all the while ignoring the web page's content. Perhaps I should unquestionly accept the wisdom of the web design experts, as I am only one of the little people, and therefore my opinion as only a humble web page user must be worthless. I am surprised that Mr. Scully finds the need to disparage other websites when his website is so respected. |
Maz 04.06.2004 01:34 |
A bad font sticks out and makes the site look amateurish A good font goes unnoticed |
Mr. Scully 04.06.2004 03:09 |
"if it means that I don't whine about fonts or complain that the web design is not perfect, all the while ignoring the web page's content." You know it's not meant this way - there are very nice sites with zero content and maybe a couple sites with excellent content but zero graphics. I think Andy's site was an example of the latter case. But usually if somebody makes a site with a really useful content, it takes him years and he improves his designing skills. Like it happened with Sebastian's site - used to be quite bad but nowadays it's a site with perfect content and a very intelligent structure. "I am surprised that Mr. Scully finds the need to disparage other websites when his website is so respected." Sorry but I mentioned plenty of sites that are excellent in my opinion. And I do think that I can recognize both crappy design and zero content (which is sadly case of 95% of Queen sites). Among 1000+ Queen sites there are probably 15 good ones. I was a bit angry because of your words that my site is good because of the content, not because of the design - I will be honestly really glad to accept any criticism IF it's constructive. In exchange I can tell you what I mind about other particular sites. "A bad font sticks out and makes the site look amateurish. A good font goes unnoticed". Yes, this is pretty much true... |
geeksandgeeks 04.06.2004 10:55 |
link. A site run by "just plain folks". Very informative and nicely laid out. Plus, a good place to find MIDIs of songs I can't get anywhere else. And here, of course. And there was one...a DK3 board...a while back, but I don't know what happened to it. |
Saint Jiub 04.06.2004 17:55 |

Yes, this is pretty much true...I was thinking of bringing up Andy's site, but you beat me to it. I feel bootlegsheaven is a good site (content-wise), and I remember Queenheaven being good (content-wise), and I did not understand how these sites could be panned (my perception) based solely on font and/or web design. Sorry, I was not criticizing your web design, but rather I was trying to point out that, in my humble opinion, the content is, by far, most important (but it needs to be readable and organized). I have only a minor issue (mostly based on my laziness) concerning possible hyperlinks between your concertography with your Live CD collection. It would slightly helpful if your concertography identified the Live CD's in your collection and provided a hyperlink to that concert. In any case, this minor issue only involves an extra mouse click or two, so obviously, it really is not all that important. I still cannot see why fonts are important, but then again, I am not exactly a slave to fashion. |
Mr. Scully 07.06.2004 02:58 |
"I feel bootlegsheaven is a good site (content-wise), and I remember Queenheaven being good (content-wise), and I did not understand how these sites could be panned (my perception) based solely on font and/or web design." As for Queen Heaven, it's been a couple years since it was shut down so I admit I don't exactly remember the content, I remember the dictionary, some news, some fonts... QueenHeaven has only some sort of bootleg discography with tracklists and front covers. My site has many more exact setlists, I think Norbert's site had a lot of bootleg descriptions plus there's some very nice Italian site with bootleg discography, I just can't remember the url. Hopefully my site will in some months offer something similar in even better quality. "hyperlinks between your concertography with your Live CD collection. It would slightly helpful if your concertography identified the Live CD's in your collection and provided a hyperlink to that concert." Actually I too thought about "cross-linking" between live CD's, concerts, tickets and maybe something else. There's however a slight problem, that tickets are in the database, setlists are in text files and the concertography is in the HTML code. So I'd have to unite the format first. But it's definitely something I will consider. "I still cannot see why fonts are important, but then again, I am not exactly a slave to fashion." It's hard to explain because I very well remember that before I knew any html or php, I used Frontpage and I really didn't care about fonts and this stuff... my page looked awful although I thought it was nice. But believe me, fonts are probably more important than the site structure itself. |
Saint Jiub 07.06.2004 13:48 |
Bah ... I would rather have site structure where I can find what I'm looking for, than a site with pretty graphics and cute fonts. But that is just me ... Absolutely no hurry on "cross-linking" ... It sounds like more trouble than it is worth (to save a few mouse clicks). |
