Hello to you all,
some of you may remember a post that I made almost a year ago. In that post I explained that I, along with 9 friends and a lot of help from other people, was making a World Record attempt for the "longest accumulative abseil (rappel) in 1 hour". That event took place on may 24th 2003.
Yesterday I got some good news from Guinness World Records: Guinness has officially recognized our worldrecord an now I'm the new WORLD RECORD HOLDER!!!! It's not sure I'll be in the 2005 book, but lets hope :D
Just wanted to let you know.
Action!

Wow, congratulations, Paul! You must be proud! :^D
That's awesome! :D Congrats big time Paul. :) When the 2005 book comes out I'll look for you say "Hey! People, I know who this world record holder is!"
Congratulations. I had no idea what abseil or rappel meant, and after looking them up I'm still confused.
So you and your friends descended on a very long rope? I don't understand the one hour part.

That's right, we descended on a very long rope. From a tall building, in our case the bell tower of a big church. There were a few restrictions to the building. I had to have a particular height, between 20 and 50 meters or so. We also had to climb the stairs ourselves, no elevators or something like that.
I'm glad that, after almost 10 months, it's finally recognized by Guinness.
