Hi everyone. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of NOTW I think that this is a great addition to the new box set. There's a video on youtube by a user called RUDI UK that shares a video of a test pressing of NOTW with the three singles from the album: WWRY, WATC and SYW. The first two are very similar to the final mixes that everybody know, but SYW have some differences on the track, that I think that could be interesting to have on our collections.
I'm not a master "remastering" things, and if somebody could do a better job, please share. Thanks a lot to RUDI UK for shared the video.
I just 'clean' the audio of the video, and make it sounds better. This is the video: link
And this is the tracks, separated, clean, and sounding better: link
Cheers
Not only the end sounds different. Some guitar parts and the solo are slightly too and it just needs a little bit more sound quality. Can someone separate Spread Your Wings from the others please? Perhaps it is the last take before the album version.

Late in 2011, a 3 track test pressing from 1977 was sold that contained three tracks (We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, and Spread Your Wings). According to the listing, there were approximately 50 of the promo test pressings made. This pressing features an early mix of Spread Your Wings. There are some additional ad-libbed type vocals at the end and either alternately mixed guitars or a different guitar performance.
Great to hear yet another new mix of Spread Your Wings! In the opening post you state that the mixes for WWRY and WATC are very similar, but are there any real differences to the final mix on the album or are they actually THE final mixes from the album? I could not find any info on these tracks on Queenvault, my got to website when it comes to alterante versions of Queen-tracks.
Thanks a lot !
Take CD3 of the NOTW boxset, remove 4 of the live tracks (specially Milton Keynes and Montreal), add these 3 from the test pressing and also the SHA alt. take/mix from Aug.77 instead, and then you have a much more interesting "bonus tracks" CD. That's how it plays in my car :-)
Spread Your Wings is a slightly different mix, and it has the full coda instead of fade out. We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions are the same mixes as in the single/album versions.
