Matt Bellamy are working in the Muse's new album, the release of the DVD of the Resistance Tour, and in a new world tour. So i think he isn't avaliable at the moment. The guitars of Bellamy and May working together will be awesome. Wish they could colaborate in some project in the future. |
pirrakas 23.02.2012 08:22 |
Matt Bellamy??? Having Brian May and/or Roger Taylor as special guests at a Muse concert makes more sense to me. Muse are much much bigger act than Queen+ at this time. |

Curious Georgie Michael has permanently ruined his vocal chords (and god knows what else) from drugs to I am afraid that it will never be a likely scenario with him and Queen. Robert Plant is one person along with Jack White or individually or what together or what have you. Basically a ton of people from "A Concert For Life" should re-record old Queen songs and do knew ones with them. They should tour in a Queen festival as well. |
DragonflyTrumpeter83 23.02.2012 11:37 |
1. Tom Chaplin. I don't listen to Keane, but the Prince's Trust version of It's A Hard Life was really good. He's young and has the range. link 2. Mark Martel. He's not very well known, but he also has the vocal range. Plus, lead singer of the official tribute band, Queen Extravaganza. Also, young. link 3. Gary Cherone. He was in Extreme and also did a stint with Van Halen. Extreme and Cherone was also very prominent at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert. Has experience fronting Queen. link 4. Justin Hawkins. Very flamboyant singer of The Darkness. Not a very good range, but he is very popular. link Need I go on? Anyone would be a better choice than Adam Freaking Lambert. |
clifton 23.02.2012 11:43 |
I hope he tears the place apart, this argument is boring . If you don't like it then stay home and listen to your albums. Give the guy a break, he might just incredible with a full show. |

Why look elsewhere? Bring back Paul Rodgers! (if Brian's ego allows it) Tom Chaplin would have been a top quality choice as well. Singing It's a Hard Life live and hitting all the notes on the record is not easy at all and considering this is a one off it could work. I saw Keane play Under Pressure live in Monterrey a few years ago... great performance! Also, anything that involves Queen and Muse has to be good, so I'd add Matt Bellamy to the list (singing AND playing). United States of Eurasia, anyone???? |
Scofflaw 23.02.2012 13:39 |
For me, no one. That EMA performance was just painful to listen to. It was out of tune, he completely missed some notes, and his vibrato sounded like a tortured goat. He has the range, but not the maturity or the finesse. Some of the best parts of Freddie's vocals are the slight inflections and nuances that let you know just how good he is. Freddie's vibrato was damn near perfect, compare it to Lambert's and there is no contest. Lambert is the perfect example that just because you can hit the notes, doesn't mean you can sing the songs. |
MERQRY 23.02.2012 14:05 |
Tim staffel?? Luca Prodan?? (oh! sadly he's dead) Just Brian,Roger,John and Spike?? Someone who could even sing in the shower?? Or can they just make a band without the name "Queen" in it?? |

Scofflaw wrote: He has the range, but not the maturity or the finesse. Oh yeah. He comes from musical theatre, where everything is overbaked, and it shows. Despite the natural gift and the training he has virtually none of the things that can't be taught. You can fool some of the people all of the time with costume and persona and antics and tactics, but for the rest he just doesn't have the effortless charisma, subtlety or ability to connect of even the good frontmen and solo artists, let alone the greats. |

Roger, Brian and Gail Ann Dorsey (and Spike on keyboards). I think this is really the best solution from all points of view. I don't understand why only male vocalists would fit; Gail Ann Dorsey has an incredible voice and she is a phenomenal bass player. Take a look at the Bowie-Dorsey version of 'Under Pressure': link |

scofflaw, you start off saying he sung out of tune then finish by saying "just because he can hit the notes" make your mind up, being out of tune clearly implies he cant hit the notes. Holly, interesting idea,i love Scorpions, however his voice lacks depth, feel and is very one dimentional. the fact remains that Adam Lambert can sing, go and listen to his own stuff, im not a fan and would rather see Jeff Scott Soto or Gary Cherone on that stage, but im willing to bet that on the day he will be brilliant as far as Justin Hawkins and Mika go, again very one dimentional when compared to what Queen songs require George Micheal sounded good on those songs 20 years ago but i dont think he could handle a rock song then and he certainly couldnt now. Tom Chaplin? that song suited him, but could you really see him singing Tie Your mother Down? if people dont like Brian and Rogers choice dont buy a ticket, dont go to the show and stop complaining because youre not going to change anything! |
matt z 24.02.2012 17:57 |
Chris Cornell and Annie Lennox... never gonna happen... but i'd love it. or just tour with the Foo Fighters and have mr Hawkins do some vox. |
Scofflaw 24.02.2012 22:26 |
Vocal Harmony: I said that he CAN hit the notes. That night he didn't. He has a great range and usually good pitch, but that night, he certainly didn't hit the notes. There were notes he was sharp, notes he was flat, and some he missed altogether. The over the top vibrato was probably him realizing how off key he was and doing his best to conceal it. He's a good vocalist, I'll give him that, but letting him sing for Freddie is like fitting a Ferrari with a Toyota engine, yeah it will work, but it's a very poor substitute. Just because Brian and Roger see their own egos and bank accounts expanding and Adam as a way to connect to a new generation of potential Queen fans, doesn't mean Freddie would approve. |
GratefulFan 25.02.2012 00:08 |
Regarding Klaus Meine being one dimensional and lacking feel- I don't think that's right. His voice is very distinctive which can make it hard to imagine wrapped around other songs, but that's a limitation of the person doing the imagining rather than an indication of lack of depth. When he's covered other songs they've been effective and interesting. That version of LOML is a very straight forward, hat-in-hand kind of rendition which I actually appreciate for the song. Like Save Me, LOML can suffer under the weight of too much emotional filigree. Think Still Loving You or Send Me an Angel or even Winds of Change . I don't think he lacks feel. |

Tom has sung more Queen songs apart from It's a hard life. Under pressure: link Another one bites the dizzee (Queen/Bowie mix): link Tie your mother down? Hmm... I don't know, but he was about to sing it in Freddie's 65th birthday party. He ended up singing It's a hard life and The show must go on (which, by the way, a journalist who was there said it was the closest to Freddie he had ever heard...). Anyway, Tom has a lot of virtues... range, stage presence... but the best of his qualities is how incredibly versatile his voice is (try She has no time and then Better than this....) and he is NEVER out of tune live. The problem with TC is that he's going to be extremely busy this year since Keane are releasing their new album in May. But maybe he could attend a couple of Queen shows. |
OwenSmith 01.03.2012 14:12 |
I thought Lisa Stansfield was very good with I Want To Break Free at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. And she got into the mood coming on stage in curlers with a hoover if I recall correctly. I'd love to hear her do some more stuff with Brian and Roger. Why do people focus so much on male vocalists for Queen? Freddie's range was so high that it suits a low female voice very well. Edit: and to the person that mentioned it, yes another Kharkov moment would be great. I watched the hi-def download of that with my parents, my mum was in tears when Brian was playing Bijou even before the video of Freddie came on. She whispered "Hello Freddie" and she could barely get the words out. I'm welling up a bit now just remembering watching it with her. |

I'm not sure that anyone can even come close to filling Freddie's shoes. Lambert has the pipes but his totally tasteless performance at the AMA's a f ew years ago showed that he has no way near the Mercury class, showmanship and control of the crowd. On the other hand do we really want the music to end. I am still inclined to believe that Taylor/Mayd is the way to go. At least they will be true to Queen. |
OwenSmith 01.03.2012 18:39 |
I wish Roger and Brian would do some of their solo numbers when playing Queen gigs. I'm particularly fond of some stuff from Strange Frontier and Happiness? |

cmsdrums 02.03.2012 07:25 |
I know those not in favour of the musical will have a fit, but Tony Vincent would be very good. He has the proven vocal ability with the material night after night, and has enough charisma and stage presence but without the 'look at me, look at me' factor that is so annoying with Lambert. He would stick closely enough to the arrangements that we know and love whilst adding just enough and being just different enough, to avoid the 'Freddie Clone' accusations. The few shows he has already done such as The Queen's Jubilee show in 2002 prove that he can do it, and get the right sort of reaction from hardcore fans and general public alike. |
