what would you describe as,the holy grail of queen concert,or single.. is there something tucked away in queen vaults, that would be the ultimate experiance. maybe somewhere there is video of queens first concert,or queen playing an unknows session, with the stones,(unlikley i know). a hidden jem(gem) deep in the vaults. maybe fred made an album that was only to be released decades after his passing. even someone on video sniffing coke of a dwarfs tray?. lot of maybes in here lol. i suppose the ultimate for me would be a video of fred alone doing a live secret concert for record executives,,,,,,,but that would have been leaked by now.. |

Knebworth or Mannhiem or maybe Kholn on video |

The holy grail for me would be: 1) Reincarnation of Freddie 2) John dusting off his bass and ringing Brian's phone. ... well, you did ask!! |
david (galashiels) 07.08.2011 17:28 |
true, maybe john is thinking that?. |

Holy Grail of singles: Hangman! (Would also love to hear the version of Let Me Live with Rod Stewart, or Play The Game with Andy Gibb) Holy Grail of Queen shows: Imperial College and Knebworth. Oh, and I'd just love it if it ever emerged that Glasgow '77 was filmed :) Holy Grail of Freddie: Some Hectics or Ibex footage....and even his performance at the Time Musical on film. And would it be too much to ask for some Smile, 1984 or Reaction on film? LOL. Great topic David....nice for all the dreamers out there :) |

The holy grail for me would be...that Freddie faked his death, and is still alive and hiding out somewhere, ready to come back and kick music in the ass! (ok, has nothing to do with the fact that I had dreams about him still being alive, though he was sick, but bravely fighting through, and was nowhere near Garden Lodge, but was actually residing in New Orleans secretly, where very few people knew about it) |
The Real Wizard 07.08.2011 22:01 |
My holy grail - Brian and Roger doing a tour of small clubs or theatres, no more than 1000 people a night, playing the more obscure Queen songs and their solo material. A setlist with songs like Long Away, Las Palabras, Ride The Wild Wind, Driven By You, Man On Fire, etc. The 2008 version of A Kind Of Magic was fantastic ... throw that into the mix too. And no backup singers - just a 5 piece band. There have been shades of this over the years (like them doing Strange Frontier on 11-24-2001) .. and I can only hope they give it one more crack. |

Totally agree with Sir GH. Too bad they'll only perform rarities in front of teenagers who just want to hear Foo Fighters songs. |
dysan 08.08.2011 03:03 |
I think by definition, and totally realistically possible - the athology (heh) will include titles we haven't even heard of yet. If Hangman was never released but played live loads - imagine what else lurks. I guess if we're making large assumption :o) |

Pim Derks wrote: Totally agree with Sir GH. (hangman etc) Live audio: anything from 1973 or even 1972 (was marquee recorded?) - also I would love to see a proper live album from each tour. In addition, I would LOVE for them to make the live archives available in their online store. More and more bands sell live cds online exclusively, that way you can please the fans and avoid flooding the market Live Video: again, make the archive available (including QPR!!!!) where you can buy dvds from qol. as far as general releases; a box set of all Rainbow 74 gigs? If they discovered that they HADN*T erased the Cologne 1986 tapes? A box set of South America 1981? Houston 77 and Earls Court? of course I would welcome anything they have hidden away |

Besides many of the other great suggestions here, I'd really love to hear Brian's 1969 (?) demo for White Queen. Always thought it was interesting that he already had a song with the word Queen in it, before they came up with the band name. |
dysan 08.08.2011 06:28 |
I think it was written 'As It Begun' and the White Queen bit was added later to fit the Q2 ethos. |

HI, what about: Hangman (I can't resist) The Roy Thomas Baker mix of The Night Comes Down Marquee 72 live ( with Jesus & The Night Comes Down) Beautiful quality audio and better still video of Rainbow gigs from 1974 with NO omissions Video of Japan gig(s) from 1975 Demo of the original Sheer Heart Attack from 1973/4 All those great concert videos we know of on Bluray/DVD .....dreamer, dream on! |
DragonflyTrumpeter83 08.08.2011 09:34 |
My holy grail would be unrestricted access to the Queen Vaults. Just sitting there listening to all the master tapes from the mixing console on studio quality monitors, I think, would make me the happiest man on Earth! Hmm... Okay... While I'm still dreaming, I would love it if Brian, Roger and Tim Staffell were to get together for a Smile Reunion tour. Playing all around the world in smaller, intimate venues. We'd get to hear all the Smile songs plus a few Queen songs and a few Brian and Roger solo songs. Wouldn't that be great? |

That secret Cross show from march 95 where they performed "Heaven For Everyone", "Innuendo" and "Another One Bites The Dust", where the blue lights on stage were very prominent during most of the show. And that Roger Taylor show at the Shepherds Bush Empire on 3rd December 1996 where he premiered "People On Streets" (at the time being a mysterious lyric on a mysterious aRTy web site -very classic 90's basic HTML!-). During that concert Roger performed "Heaven For Everyone" for the only time ever as a solo artist, reasonably included in the set list considering the recent "Made In Heaven" release. I would also like to get hold of the "Fun In Space" promo japanese 3"CD and the "Strange Frontier" red-sleeve CD (similar to the "Beautiful Dreams" 7" single sleeve). A Cowdray Ruins 2002 show recording featuring Roger singing "Jealous Guy", "I Feel Fine" and "I Am The Warlus" would be great too! |

"Queen I I " played live, in a small venue like the Rainbow, along with Freddie & Roger's 'high-pitched' sceaming episodes from 'March of the Black Queen', 'Ogre Battle' & 'Fairy Fellers Master Stroke'...caught on film, would be nice |

Freddie's vocals intact for Golders Green 1973 (is it right that we've been hearing two tracks from a quad recording?) |

Holy Grails: - SONG: March of the Black Queen; Freddies home demo, recorded and amateuristically multitracked on his borrowed 4-track reel-to-reel recorder. Including over 10 minutes of new material, of course :) - VIDEO: A couple of very obscure 4hour VHS tapes taken from the camera which was filming and following the band during the recording of The Miracle album. - LIVE: Indeed a video recording of Freddies last live performance ever; Dominion Theatre, 1988 |

to me, the queen holy grails are from the pre queen bands song: wreckage's green. it was the only(i think) original song of a freddie band that was recorded. live video: ibex at Bluesology pop-in. it was there only major show and it did have 3 photogophers in there so there may have been filmed |

I follow with... Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon and Tim Staffel on a world tour. It just had to to be said... -THE Queen Box (with Everything - at least on CD's). It's about time! - 10 years since Freddie Mercury died... To be kinda realistic: -Early '70s show on DVD. -Greatest Video Hits 3 (can't be impossible). |
MadTheSwine73 09.08.2011 22:51 |
There are tons of things I would want. Hangman (I think everyone does) A pre 1973 live recording Sleeping on the Sidewalk (live) Covers of various Beatles and Zeppelin songs The Anthology (obviously) Greatest Video Hits 3 Smile doing a tour (with or without John, preferably with) The entire Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack & A Night At The Opera home demos, studio demos, live recordings, studio takes, and overdubs. Literally everything from before 1976. I know most of this will never happen, and might not even exist (as to what we know). |

This thinks are quite realistic. Full video from Rainbow concert in March '74 ... maybe quite possible if still some video master tapes exist in some kind tv archives and not only 2 edited tracks. The same thinks with video from Tokyo '75 - not only this unknow shots from SIS exibition but from some Japan TV archives. This films will be good as a bonus to future Raibow video from November '74.... Also as a holy grail will be multitrack from London video from '79 like few audio recordings from Crazy Tour... I also wonder about deffinitive existing video tapes from some Japan gig in '79, Houston gigs (no matter from what year..), Stockholm '86 (from amateur camcorder), Cologne and Manncheim '86 ((maybe some copy of this tapes exist somewhere :P)) and Knebworth '86....and some audience shots from Leiden '86 gigs.... :P |
