...but let's not worry too much. They do the same to everyone else. It's hardly the pinnacle of music journalism, but we thought we'd share this article with you: link "But all that pales when compared to the absurd rebirth of Queen (+ Paul "you know, the one who was in Free and Bad Company and sang that song All Right Now" Rogers). A band whose reputation was always disproportionate to their actual abilities, even when the only interesting member was still alive and the most talented member could still bear to play bass in their presence, were now a band who had the audacity to follow up the worst musical ever written (one day we'll topple that statue of Freddie in Tottenham Court Rd, just like they did Saddam) with a new album under the name Queen + Paul "who was also in The Firm but we can't remember any of their hits" Rogers, entitled The Cosmos Rocks (oh good grief!). "Queen + Paul "why didn't they just get George Michael to do it again because at least he can hit the high notes without sounding like he's straining out a poo" Rogers also released a single called C-lebrity (oh good grief!), damning our obsession with reality TV stars (oh good grief!) that was stuffed full of lyrical conceits as clumsy as a giant picking up pins, and sounded as joyless and stilted as a Gordon Brown-hosted Xmas party. They did not rock us." ENDS |

Tom Townshend is the journalist of this crappy article. Who is this nobody writing for this crappy MSN site? |
TheCosmosRocks 02.01.2009 16:06 |
This is like totally unfair ! Let Queen + Paul Rodgers do want they want to do ! George Michael would be a very bad idea ! |
CJNovello 02.01.2009 18:27 |
thats pretty full on but i agree the cosmos rocks sucks but it could do without the insults |
Ken8 03.01.2009 01:34 |
I'm no fan of the whole Q+PR idea, but that was a bit harsh! You get the impression are that they're as bad as they ever were. |
Queenfan213 03.01.2009 02:12 |
The worst thing is that they misspelled Rodgers |
inu-liger 03.01.2009 05:00 |
Who the fuck is he to berate all the music that comes out these days. Who IS he, seriously. He sounds like an old fart who seriously needs to get laid. |
The Fairy King 03.01.2009 06:22 |
...but if it was positive you'd all agree. Hypocrites. |
Queenfan213 03.01.2009 06:24 |
I wouldn't. I'm no fan of the new collaboration, I'm just saying, it's okay to make an editorial mistake, but if you're going to insult a man, spell his name right! |

Why is the author of this article allowed to breathe our air here on planet Earth? Go back to your home planet "Ass" with all the rest of you "Assholes" and shove your head up one of your own kind... |

That was an awful review indeed. Personally, I think "The Cosmos Rocks" is a good album. It's of course no where near the brilliance of A Night at the Opera or Bad Company (debut), but it certainly rocks the hell out of my Zune headphones. One of the things that saves the album (to me) is that no two songs are too similar. There's some diversity, as with Queen's entire career. |
ivegotahorn 04.01.2009 12:48 |
Obviously, the review is terrible. But this guy clearly didn't either like, nor understand the original Queen, so what chance do their recent ventures with Paul Rodgers have? I sometimes think that, if critics actually knew anything about music, they'd be doing it, not writing about it. |
podders 04.01.2009 16:30 |
Tear down the statue of Freddie..... that's a bit harsh really! Stupid fucker! |

What a give away ......'Paul "who was also in The Firm but we can't remember any of their hits" Rogers'.... judging a band by how many hits they've had or not is pathetic, there are so many more deserving cases to knock in pop and rock music today, Q+PR are such an easy target for smeg heads like this. I'm not crazy about Cosmos rocks or the band using the name 'Queen' but the live show was great, I think Q+PR will listen to what the fans say and the next cd will be miles better. |
themastermarathon 05.01.2009 13:24 |
ust let them come to the States so we could see them live. Raise your hand if you've never seen Queen live.......let them play and tour, little girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They will always be one of the most influential bands ever, and Fred wouldn't have san The Show Must Go On" if he didn't mean it....maybe he did foresee something like this, who knows..... |

Although I don't agree with a word this guy has said, and think it's just over-opinionated crap from someone who has developed major issues over the years, at least he is saying he didn't like Queen much in the first place. I suppose that's better than all the other reviews I've read which have had critics praising Queen in the Freddie years but who probably, at the time, slagged them off more than anyone. I've listened to The Cosmos Rocks quite a bit now and I'm definately glad they made it. I have ommitted a couple of songs from my MP3 player, but I've done that with every Queen album. There are enough good ones on it to make it more than worthwhile. |
wayne 1 08.01.2009 06:12 |
once again somebody, missing the point to q+pr. queen never stood still and were always trying something different, and moving forward in their own way. now as i have said on many occassions, q+pr is just another natural move forward. would you have preffered queen to have simply put down their instruments in 1991, and say oh freddies dead, lets all just retire and do nothing for the rest of our lives. also queen were born out of smile, which never consisted of either john nor freddie. so if brian + roger wishes to collaborate with paul rodgers, and fans wish to see it[{and they obviously do as tickets for the show were snapped up quickly} then why not let it happen instead of living in the past and move on, in the great tradition that queen have done for 35 years. |

He looks like a guy who wants Boy George to chain him up and do (yuck...I don't even want to know), & then spend time in w/ prison so they can write a good song (in his eyes) called "Jailhouse Love." |

Big deal. They hated ANATO and just about every other classic Queen album that came out in the 70s so why would you want to listen to a fucking music critic. If they had their way we'd all be listening to fucking indie bands and Morrisey or some other boring shit. |
john bodega 27.01.2009 06:27 |
Internet music journalism isn't worth a pile of chilled camel cum. Honestly, a review of this calibre and shallow nature could've easily been lifted from QOL and you'd never have known it. Thanks for the link though, it was worth a chuckle! |
