I haven't seen this thread around, so here it is again... And if you like, give a bit of feedback on the song you're listening to! I've discovered many good songs out of "recommendation" like this. Mr. Bojangles- Nitty Gritty Dirt Band I mainly heard this because I read it greatly resembled "Piano Man".. It does, but it's also a beautiful song in its own right. POST! |

The Saints Are Coming - U2 + Green Day This song was originally written and recorded by a scottish punk rock band called The Skids, in 1978. U2 and Green Day recorded it together in 2006 and the profit made from it are going to the Music Rising project. This project's got something to do with buying new instruments for musicians from New Orleans. U2 and Green Day performed the song in the Superdome in New Orleans (as well as Wake Me Up When September Ends and Beautiful Day). In the U2 concert in Hawaii during the last leg of the Vertigo tour, Billie Joe (Green Day's lead singer and guitarist) joined U2 on stage and they played this song. |

I'm listening to a beautiful song, sung by my parents ( it's a duet you know )& it goes something like this : ' Gratiela!!! Go do your ******* homework! NOOOOOW!!!' Oh well... it was a big hit back in the late 90s & apparently it is enjoying an unexpected success these days... This song is quite an inspiration, as I always tend to do whatever the song is telling me to. ( otherwise I'll be forced to sleep on the balcony). Cheers everyone!!! |

This was a fairly obscure Elvis song until it was remixed and released as a single in 2002. The new version went to #1 in the UK, giving Elvis 18 #1 hits there, the most of any artist. Previously, he was tied with The Beatles at 17. |

A Girl Like You - Edwyn Collins. Collins is best known for his 1994 hit single, "A Girl Like You", which was featured in the films Empire Records and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, and "Magic Piper of Love", a 1997 single which featured on the soundtrack of Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. Collins's music is mostly electric guitar-driven pop, and his songwriting and vocal delivery range from the acerbically satirical to the soulfully tender, although he is probably better known for the former. He built his own studio in 1994 and produced his own third solo album, Gorgeous George. |
