Hi Guys - I suppose this all depends on your definition of "heavy" - in terms of pure speed you're looking at "Stone Cold Crazy" (the first real 'thrash' song??)- however some stuff can be described as 'heavy' due to lyrical or musical conent/composition, and/or emotional impact (such as "The Show Must Go On", "Too Much Love Will Kill You"). I think "Father To Son" contains some of Queen's heaviest riffs and 'metal' type sections, but then also has some delicate piano parts too, so does this preclude it from being counted as 'heavy'?? "Flick Of The Wrist" and "Death On Two Legs" are also 'heavy' due to the key they are in and the menacing chord structure of the verses in each, but also contain loads of lush delicate harmonies and other intricacies. Also, don't forget "White Man", especially the end solo part. Sorry to get all deep and involved, but I love these sort of discussions, because after the factual musical points are taken into consideration (like those I've mentioned), this type of thing really comes down to personal taste and interpretation, which essentially is the key to enjoying any type of music. My god, doesn't that sound deep for someone who's 'only' a drummer??!!! |

To the above I would add Ride The Wild Wind and Scandal. |
Asterik 27.08.2006 16:28 |
I Want It All rocks hard but is quite ornate too. One Vision would be one, definitely The Hitman and how about It's late? I mena, that's furious towards the end. |

Here are my opinions of the Hardest/Heaviest (as opposed to rockiest) songs from each album. Queen. Son & Daughter. Queen 2. Ogre Battle. Heart Attack. Stone Cold Crazy. Opera. The Prophets Song. Races. White Man. NOTW. Its Late. Jazz. FBGs (odd choice, not the rockiest but pips LMEY,DOT and just pips Mustapha as the heaviest). The Game. Dragon Attack. Flash. The Hero. Hot Space. Put Out The Fire. (No real rivals but I do think that Dancer Rocks). The Works. Tear It Up. Magic. Gimme The Prize. (Freddies Heaviest ever vocal wins this for AKOM). The Miracle. I Want It All. (Should have been WIAWI but it unfortunately dies after the opening riff). Innuendo. The Hitman. (Possibly my least favourite Queen track). Opinions ? |

Hi everybody: If we talk about "Heavy" I think the only pure heavy song is "Hitman", now, Stone cold crazy is really hard, but Probably from the 70´s I think "Son and daugther" is the Heviest. I think "Liar" is pretty noisy. so resuming: 1- Hitman 2- Son and daugther 3- Stone cold crazy 4- Liar 5- Brighton Rock. Sheer heart attack is not a "Heavy" Song...c´amon! |
deleted user 27.08.2006 21:03 |
the prophet's song has some very heavy moments in it. so does i'm in love with my car, but i wouldn't consider it the heaviest by a long shot. how about in the lap of the gods...revisited? heavy in a ballad sense. |

Tough one, as someone said earlier, it depends on your definition of heavy. In my mind "Stone Cold Crazy" and "Sheer Heart Attack" always stood out as Queen's heaviest songs. Another one I haven't seen mentioned yet is "Modenr Times Rock 'n Roll" |
eenaweena 28.08.2006 07:02 |

Well I enjoyed all the responses. However just clarify what I mean't cuz some people seemed to be confused. When I say Hardest/Heaviest I mean as in tempo and speed of the song. I forgot all about "The Hero" and "Gimme The Prize".......Those are very kick ass songs as well. |
