The above link takes you to a myspace.com member purporting to be John Deacon. Bearing in mind his complete disappearance for several years I am sure this isn't actually him, and for an intelligent educated man there's far too many spelling mistakes!!
However, this begs the question as to whether the real owner of this page (assuming it isn't John) is in any way breaking any laws such as impersonating another person, identity theft of some kind etc..?!?!?!?????
Hmm...I've been sitting here and going "NO WAY" for the past 10 minutes, and my mom told me to shut up so...i'll just ponder.
I'd like to think that John would have better grammer and capitalise the correct letters, lol.
Ok you can think what you like but WHY in the world would someone famous have a MySpace account? I'm sure they have something better to do with there time!

Lots of musicians and bands have MySpace pages. MySpace is a big deal these days, so everyoen's hoping to grab interest from people doing random searches on MySpace, I guess.
Now, why John, in particular, would have a website, would be a more interesting question. Remember, he's retired from the biz, so it's not like he needs to keep us up to date on tour dates, recording session, TV appearances, etc.
He COULD be concievably just doing it for fun, the way most people do with blogs, MySpace, etc.
But I don't think it's John. I'd prefer to think he'd actually type proper sentences, with correct grammar and such.
no, i know who he is REALLY... his real name is Ben Simpson... i have him on my myspace... trust me, thats how i met him... i thought he was John Deacon, but it only my buddy, Ben... its cool that you guys think he is John, he wants you to believe it, but im here to tell you that it is only Ben... hes good at preteneding, though isnt he??!! :)

I seriously doubt Syd Barrett had a MySpace site. He pretty much wanted to forget about his career as a musician and wanted to get on with the rest of his life. If he was trying to do that, I don't think he'd have been "hiding in plain sight", as they say.

It could be John. You never know. I know what you mean by typing proper sentences and using grammar. But, it is easy to type a word backwards or type a sentence wrong. I read somewhere that he had a Myspace. He could have one just for fun and to keep in touch with fans. So, I think it's him.

Don't think Freddie would claim he's Middle Eastern... but he might have done it just to confuse us, and trick us into believing that this is just some random tribute, while Freddie actually roams the streets of Innsbruck, Austria!
