Since many people in the Random thoughts thread said that they hate school, let's start a topic about it... I'll begin. School for me starts on the 28 August. I haven't started my "Summer reading packet" yet and I have to read a really boring book, plus our school thought it was a great idea to make "block schedules" (Alternating subjects every other day) and make each class 90 minutes long, my good school friend moved for three years, I hate my school. I hate school in general and I'm proud to say it. |

This year, I'm taking... Biology Psychology/Sociology Some maths class that I shouldn't be in (I should be in Pre-Calculus, but I opted to not care and took the generic thing) Choir Publications (Year book and newspaper) Spanish IV Yippee ! I like Spanish. I was also in French for a year, but the next year, Spanish III and French II were the same hour so I could only take one. I wanted to take Japanese origianlly, but they cut the programme right when I got there... Me likies Spanish. I also like choir. I must sing a Queen song. Which should I do ? Hmm... |

We had the WORST teachers, just the worst. Especially for science and English. it was impossible to pass them! Everyone had to take English in summer school! Even the straight A students would end up with a D and then repeat them. OMG and the guidance office secretary was the devil. No,she's the scariest person i've ever met!!! i have so many stories about her! she's really RUDE to students so ppl would just not go there anymore *shudder* and the students all have this way...it's not like that in other schools. Plus the school itself was falling down. And there were 2 stair entrances, which for some reason, would be divided between race. *cringe* |

like I did transition year which is a year after our junior cert (one big exam) and its more of a practical year,we did the my fair lady musical,work experience,a young social innovators showcase,this link will tell you about that link we also had a sleepover in the school which was so much fun!It really was the best year,it brought everyone closer,I mean we all had different groups in the class but by the end of the year we were just one big group,and we also got to know our teachers better and they are all really great and treat all of us like good mates!! |

I hated hig school. Now that I am three years into college, I wish I could go back. Things were so much easier and simpler back then. Just remember that your teachers up through high school care about you 100 times more than any professor or employer will or has the duty to. I am reminded of the line from Billy Madison where Adam Sandler is talking to the fat kid about staying in the fourth grade forever. So true. |

I like school on most days, but then there are those off days, you know... You enter the school and are knocked over by two girls fighting over lip gloss. While you get up people shout names at you. As you are walking away you slip on the lip gloss and fall over again. This time also knocking over your least favorite teacher. You get two detentions, one for injuring a member of staff, another for aggrivating a fight seeing as how the lip gloss rolled over to another girl who picked it up and proceeded to get her ass kicked causing a small mob to organise around that general area. After exiting the Principal's office, you see that weird burnt out kid who tries to get you to smoke pot with him and his little buddies. You say no...he swings at you and misses, you knock him out cold...and get suspended. Sitting in the dank room looking at bricks on the wall, with nothing to do since you didn't even get to your locker yet you set your head down. You are told to keep your head up, they for some reason let you leave 80 minutes later...you go to gym, and get hit in the head with a basketball, a kickball, a soccer ball, a football, and a tennis ball at the same time. Exiting the nurses offices with a turban like wrap of bandages around your head, you are constantly made fun of by the students, some accuse you of supporting terrorism because of the turban, you get your ass kicked. After that unpleasant event, you go to english, with the teacher you knocked over, you go up in front of the class having to recite your essay which you forgot to do. You BS...you get caught and get another detention...you leave english and go to technology where you accidentally chop you hand off with a radial arm saw... Naw, just kidding, my school rocks. |

I'm a little nervous about college and happy at the same time. I don't have a load of unwanted classes, my schedule is quite easy timewise, and 90% of my classes will be music classes! Yay (I hope it's as pleasant as it sounds though)!!! :D As far as school goes, my first high school was HELL, that's why I only lasted there one semester! It was from 8:00 to 4:00, I had to change FOUR transportation systems therefore I left for school at 6:00 a.m. and got home at 6:00 p.m., the classes were hellacious (that's not even a word.... ;P),all the students there were arrogant BITCHES, and the music department only played favorites! It was very unfair and a WASTE of time..... :( |

And they say your school years are the best years of your life.. My school was okay. It was quite small, we had a small class and we all seemed to get on pretty well. Quite a few of the lessons were pretty dull and we had some extremely dull teachers, but hey, the school served its purpose. College is better than school though, way more fun. |

I quite enjoyed high school. I really came into my own as a person in high school, made a lot of friends, joked around a lot, oh yeah - I did some work, too. But not too much. I'll always remember my senior year of high school with great fondness. If I could ever rewind to a time in my life that I would want to relive, it would probably be then. |

The skirts are itchy, wool-like material. You must wear a sweater regardless if it is one million degrees. You can't wear anything else besides an itchy sweater even if it's one million degrees below zero. Even if you can see your own breath. And in the summer your bare legs stick to the seats in the unairconditioned classrooms that typically don't even have fans when it's alarmingly hot. You can't even wear SNEAKERS. You get sick of seeing grey, blue, and maroon after the first few days of school. Uniforms may seem great at first because you don't have to worry about what you wear and what people think of how you look, but they are terrible. At least if your school is strict like mine. I'd rather wear sweats to school everyday than a uniform. I'd rather people think I dress like a bum than wear uniforms. Heck, that's almost half the reason why I want to leave my damn school. Anyhow, in conclusion, you should be thankful you don't have to wear uniforms! |

This one time we were about to have school uniforms just because these two kids in our school were transferring to a school where the kids had to wear uniforms... so their mom (keep in mind, this is after the kids are gone, the woman has nothing to do with our school anymore,) tries to start this vote among the parents at our school for us to have uniforms because she didn't think it was fair that her kids had to wear uniforms and we didn't. I always wanted school uniforms... Then again, my life's goals when I was a kid were to get a cat and be sent to boarding school (this was pre-Harry Potter, by the way). I got a scholarship already. Neato-burrito. Actually, it's really funny because I remeber sneaking my MP3 player into the test room and listening to "'39" the whole time. I also remember there was construction outside the window. And I wrote a pissed-off article about how I didn't like the question they were asking and how I didn't believe they included enough information to make a semi-informed conclusion. |
