In the booklet accompanying the Platinum Collection, it says that when Bicycle Race was played live, local bicycle shops used to sell out of bells because all the fans bought them to ring them at the appropriate moment. But in all the concerts I've heard, Bicycle Race was only ever part of a medley. Has there ever been any concert where the song was played in full?
Thanks in advance.
Heh. I think it's one of those stories that got made up in order to make liner notes more interesting actually. Or maybe it happened ONCE and became exaggerated over time.
There are other examples of junk like that which just sounds too silly to be true.. perhaps others can find and mention them, otherwise I'll look through some stuff later and post again.
SOME people at SOME shows brought SOME bells SOME times... SOME bootlegs proove this ;-)
But the story in the liner notes is obviously SOMEwhat exaggerated ;-)
Didn't they played it full at a german show? That Munich documentary proves that those naked chicks came on during the song or was that for fun while rehearsing or something?
Take the Paris 1979 (1.3.1979) bootleg. The full show! They played just the regular version of Bicycle Race, BUT Queen didn't play I'm In Love With My Car right after it, but they waited about 20 sec. or so. In that gap the audience had the opportunity to ring their bells and they did. Listen for yourself!
