Freddie Mercury Movie
| Kensington Love 18.06.2006 05:22 |
Just curious - does anyone here think we may one day see the Freddie Mercury Movie? Many other stars have gotten theirs, and I'm wondering when(if ever)it will be Freddie's turn. Of course,I'm aware of a few possible reasons why it hasn't happened. What do you think? |
| Madman007 18.06.2006 05:41 |
Honestly? With the right casting... I can't wait! |
| TRS-Romania 18.06.2006 06:18 |
management of Queen is currently debating things for some time now regarding a "Freddie" movie ... so indeed, there are plans for this. When it's going to be announced, or start, I don't know |
| deleted user 18.06.2006 06:53 |
Oh gosh. That would be awesome. I really hope they do make one. |
| Jazz 78 18.06.2006 08:13 |
It would be nice that if a project like this were to be started that Brian, Roger and probably reluctantly John should all get their hands on this and be extremely involved in the storyline for consistancy and accuracy. They were there and they would know. Not some Hollywood director that will possibly mislead the public by portaying Freddie as something he is not. And besides, The 3 remaining members would probably want to see Freddies' story done with the way Freddie would probably want his life told anyway. With class and style with a little naughtiness on the side. |

I'd go and see it... if it shows all the action. And i mean all the action. I wonder who would play Freddie? |
| Freya is quietly judging you. 18.06.2006 08:37 |
If Johnny Depp plays Freddie then I'm there. |
| deleted user 18.06.2006 08:57 |
I think it's definetely a good idea, but they really would have to get a damn good actor to play Freddie. He's a hard act to follow. |
| deleted user 18.06.2006 09:51 |
I think Johny Depp WILL play Freddie! I mean, there are plans for something like that |

Sorry to ruin the fun, but this:
TRS-Romania wrote: management of Queen is currently debating things for some time now regarding a "Freddie" movie ... so indeed, there are plans for this. When it's going to be announced, or start, I don't knowis simply not true. Queen Productions has no plans whatsoever for a movie, at least not in stages where they are more than fleeting thoughts. |

If a Freddie Movie was going to be done i would have thought Queen productions would have done it a few years back...but hey i'm all for it. : ) |
| Carol! the Musical 18.06.2006 12:32 |
Okay, here's the "cast". ;-) Freddie Mercury: Johnny Depp ( can't wait to hear him fake Freddie's accent :P ) John Deacon: Sean Penn ( don't they look alike?! :P ) Roger Taylor: Jude Law ( Okay, he'll need plenty of makeup... ) Brian May hasn't been decided yet.. :P |
| Poo, again 18.06.2006 12:47 |
Can Johnny Depp fake an overbite? Can he do it as well as I can? I think not. I'm a much better actor than he could ever be. I'm the best. |
| Carol! the Musical 18.06.2006 12:53 |
Alright, there's been a change in the cast! Freddie Mercury: The Millionaire Waltz ( who can fake an overbite fabulously ) But seriously... yeah, that overbite is gonna be a problem if they casted. :P |
| deleted user 18.06.2006 12:54 |
Yes, but can he sing as well as Freddie? |
| My Melancholy Blues 18.06.2006 13:08 |

Freddie Mercury sucks, why make a movie about him? Make one about me instead! :O |
| My Melancholy Blues 18.06.2006 13:50 |
Seriously speaking, personally I'd like to see his pre-Queen and very early Queen era movie. |

Someone ages ago suggested Jeff Goldblum... So i decided to see... with my fantastic image research and skills on Paint for the moustache...lol :/ link |

They are. They're still looking for an actor who can act and sing, but I do and don't want them to make it because I don't want it to end up a Hollywood movie like Ray Charles or Johnny Cash. |
| mercury20 18.06.2006 16:51 |
It would be fab! It woukd take a very brave person to play Freddie at any stage in his career, and can you imagine a Montserrat or even a Straker!I read somewhere that Eltons Rocket Films company was planning something a few years back but nothing has materialised as yet.The rumour was that none of the other members would grant the rights for the music to be used.I must admit i was VERY impressed with the BBc/DORO production The Untold Story which is easily the best thing up to now.Another rumour running about was a televised version of Mercury & Me-Anyone know what happened there?Whatever appears,at least Brian can play himself,as he looks the same now as 1973! |
| Al TurHao 18.06.2006 17:24 |
LOL It was me ages ago who suggested Jeff Goldblum! Even more look-a-like, check out pics of actor JOSH CHARLES. He's the perfect Deacon! Tell me if I ain't right??! ;) |
| The prophet's song 19.06.2006 00:25 |
I think someone is planning to do a movie on good ol' Sir Ed Hillary, so if they do one on Sir Ed then why not Queen Fred as well. It only makes sense. I'd sure go and see it! |
| kaybb 19.06.2006 04:26 |
Let me join this topic? I agree Chinesedog Torture. But how about Sean Penn as Brain May Edword Norton as John Deacon. I am soooo exciting about Jonny as Freddie. And I wish, director is Tim Burton. |

I've once again changed my mind. I wanna see a Freddie movie during the years with his early bands like Ibex and Sour Milk Sea. |
| cmsdrums 20.06.2006 09:08 |
Obviously take it with a pinch of salt, but I read in a UK newspaper about a year ago that the chap who plays Will in 'Will & Grace' (is it Eric McCormack?) was being touted to play Freddie in a movie. Visually I can see it. I hoper that they stick with Freddie's original vocals for musical sequences though, and just leave the actors to mime, rather than re-record stuff and ruin it |
| Togg 20.06.2006 09:10 |
Well we will have to see, but usually the only thing the UK newspapers are good for is wiping your A*** |

I know this wouldn't bring in name-brand recognition, but how about a real Iranian playing Freddie? I mean, the man WAS Middle-Eastern after all. I mean, Iran has a population of 68743074. Someone there should be able to act and sing :) |

If anyone is willing to pay for the plastic surgery, I'd love to play Freddie! No, wait, Ben should play Freddie. Yeah... But about finding a Freddie lookalike in Iran... I don't know. Freddie doesn't look like a typical Iranian to me, he looks too... pale for that, don't you think? He looks more (south) European to me. |

I mean, I didn't think "hey, he looks Middle Eastern" before I found out that he was, so I suppose it wasn't *that* obvious, but... Sometimes he looked more dark-skinned than other times. I think it depended a lot on things like his hairstyle. He looked darker, IMO, when he had shorter hair w/ moustache. But that's just me. I guess some of it depends on what part of Iran and things like that. I don't know any Iranians, so :) ... Anyone know people from Iran and could clear up what the average Iranian looks like? lol |

A friend of mine is of full Iranian descent and she is definately not as pale as Freddie, much darker. But perhaps it also depends on from which part of Iran she's from. But still, Freddie wasn't Iranian. He was Parsi. Maybe we should look in Gujarat? |
