Does anyone here like Deep Purple? Personally, I think they're a fantastic band and I would love to see them live. I love the way their live songs seem to stretch out forever.
And another thing. Deep Purple has incurred many lineup changes in its history but the only time people have shouted "THAT'S NOT DEEP PURPLE" is when that bogus band were touring back in 1980.
So why do people do it with Queen + Paul Rodgers, when even the title of the band itself says it's not just Queen?
And which Deep Purple lineup do you like the best? For me it's Mk. II and Mk. III.
For these days my friend has been obsessed with Deep Purple and recently he bought three live CDs. Everyday he listens to them and always talks about how much he likes them. I'm fed up with hearing that...hahaha!
My favourite 'Purple' songs are:
Smoke on the Water
Child in Time
Black Night
Speed King
Fireball
Demon's Eye
Highway Star (adrenalin-pumping unmatched)
Space Truckin'
Hush

I'm a fan of Deep Purple... Ian Gillan is one my favourites lead singers... Ritchie Blackmore excellent guitarrist, Jon Lord excellent on keyboards.
My favourites albums are Machine Head and Made In Japan.
Here a leave a good Deep Purple Hub for all fans, here is the link: link
Thanks to Ms. Farenheit for giving me the link ;)
Obviously you'll have to join this hub, but your request might take a few time to be accepted... on my case, it was accepted the same day. I wish you lucky to enter the hub.
There you can find lots of concerts and other stuff.
Enjoy.

Smoke on the Water, Hush, and Kentucky Woman (originally written by Neil Diamond) all rock! Richie Blackmore is an awesome guitarist and Ian Gillian is an awesome singer!
Deep Purple is the best hard rock band in the world. Soldier of fortune and Child in time are best songs ever... I'm guitarist in the band and we have Smoke on the water and Soldier of fortune on repertoire. And not to forget I have HUGE collection of Purple stuff...like Queen

I saw Deep Purple live at Jones Beach. It was a double night, so ELP was there too. It's the only concert I never got a t-shirt at, I couldn't decide whose to get, and at $40? I'm not saying hey ain't worth it, but it's a bit hard for someone who was nine at the time.... Ah, but it was a glorious night indeed!
