EDIT: LINKS DELETED Hey All: Another contribution, originally downloaded from The Queen Hub (thanks to Sal-A-Mander)... These are three songs from Left Handed Marriage (a pre-Queen band): 1. Appointment: 2. I Need Time: 3. She Was Once My Friend: Actually i don't know if these songs are real or fake, so any experts help, will be welcome. ENJOY!!! |

Anyway thanks for this. |

I think these songs arent fake, but they are official :-( |
father to my son 17.02.2006 11:09 |
i don't this is official , i might be wrong , i know its on a bootleg called HER MAJESTY'S JEWELS the studio rarites , if this is any help. |
John S Stuart 17.02.2006 11:16 |
These songs are indeed official - and should be removed. Why do people insist upon being rude and breaking the rules? Is it the Andy Warhol 15 minutes of fame thing, or is it a case of taking the piss too far and too often, or is it simply that some people are just really that plain stupid? Oh - and before someone complains about my own bad manners, there are only so many ways of saying the same thing politely, before one runs out of patience. NO Official downloads please!!! |

The Hub has a different set of rules than QZ, but it is also more selective as to who can join. QZ keeps the rules simple - no officially released items, regardless of when it was released and if it is in print anymore. This keeps QZ, which is very public, from getting into any trouble. It's a simple and easy rule to enforce. The hub is more flexible. The goal is not to allow pirated material, such as Queen albums or DVDs, but to share long deleted or obscure stuff. |

Well, if Left Handed Marriage songs are official, they shouldn't be shared, and i know other people who are sharing the complete Queen albums, and those albums shouldn't be shared too. |

The Hub rules are specifically mentioned everytime you log into the hub. <font color="blue">Maruga_Mercury</font> wrote: and i know other people who are sharing the complete Queen albums, and those albums shouldn't be shared too.Who? Please tell the ops and they will deal with it. But I have grown tired of hub users saying "I know someone who is sharing official albums," yet they never tell us who it is. Right now there is a 15 to 1 ratio of ops to users. We try to do our best in enforcing the rules, but we only have so much freetime. And when we do enforce the rules, we tend to catch a lot of flack. Having users tell us that people are still breaking the rules is counterproductive and not useful to anyone. |

Have I missed something? Where is the Left Handed Marriage songs officially released? |
YourValentine 17.02.2006 16:45 |
The LHM tracks were not released as a studio album by a record company, so it's not Maruga_Mercury's fault to think they are not official. It's not the same as official Queen albums. We all just want to share tracks which are not available in a shop, so please let us not fight over this. Personally, I think it's okay to share the LHM material, it was not released as a usual CD and the tracks have been shared by Maki over at mayniacs.com for a long time without Brian getting upset. But who knows who else gets upset:) It's certainly wise to be careful when we are not sure about official material and it's good that people are aware of the issue. Still, we can discuss it in a polite way without calling each other stupid. I know that there are some people who think it's a joke to publish official stuff but Maruga_Mercury is not one of them. |

The left Handed Marriage tracks were privately pressed by the guys who own the copyright material, and as such is protected by copyright law as much as any official Queen album. Perhaps as a multi-millionaire, the flaunting of this privately produced CD may not bother Brian May, but, I know for a certainty that it bothers Bill Richards, as it was his own personal savings which were used to finance his project. A similar story can be said about Tim Staffell's 'Amigo' - and I think because both these albums can be commercially purchased, it is a bigger crime to steal from the small guys - than larger companies like EMI. Maruga's statement: "I didn't know if those songs were official or not, that's why i uploaded and then i asked if they were official, and asking for experts opinion" - would make more sense if he asked BEFORE uploading, as that would protect both himself and the board. Finally, why feel the need to share hub material in here anyway? If Queenzone members wish to join the hub, they can do so very easily, so there is no need to paste it in here also. I apologise for my rudeness, but it is not personal - it is just my attempt to stem the recent trend of uploading official material regardless of consideration or consequence, as sooner or later such a flagrant disregard for copyright material WILL result with the demise of this site. I do not wish to be the whinger of bad news, or the enforcer of moralistic laws, but I respect this site too much to see it brought down over the carelessness and inconsideration of a pig-headed few, at the expense of the sensible rule-abiding majority. Maruga: "I would like to uploaded again, can i do it YourValentine?". Can I not appeal to your better nature, and ask you, instead of asking for the support of others to upload this stolen material, to just totally drop the idea for the sake of the rest of the board? |

As far i know, YourValentine is one of the Queenzone team (just like Richard Orchard), that's why i asked him/her. |

It's new to me that the LHM CD is commercially available, I thought it's out of print. The only copy I could track down is on ebay link The seller claims that only 50 copies exist - if that is true, it's sure worth a bid. However, when you say that Bill Richards would feel robbed when the tracks are published, it's really hard to challenge this statement. It's probably not fair to forbid the sharing of out-of-print The Cross albums and allow the LHM material. It just would be so much nicer if we did not have so many fights in the sharing section, it takes away much of the fun. This is not meant for you, John, there are many fights for various reasons in this forum :-( Please message me in the hub, Maruga_Mercury |

I simply must add few lines... A few months ago I started a project of compiling Queen collection in mp3 on few DVDs so that I could have it at work. First I ripped all albums Queen and solo that I have on original CDs (actually I only miss The Cross - Bad, Mad and Dangerous to Know). After done that I started to thinking that It would be nice to put all thge singles on that compilation too, so I make a small research (primarily on Queenpictrure hall, and Queen webworks), and it turn out that it would be impractical to get all singles, because there are some singles with same tracklistings. Next step was to start compiling singles from mp3s that I downloaded from warious sources over few years, what gave me about 20% of all singles that I need. After that I came here and out a list of songs that I miss. What I get was ansver that I ask for a official stuff and that I can't get it here. I appologised and get few e-mails about how t get that songs. My main point is, don't be rude when somebody tell you that you are asking for an official material.... BTW: I now have collection that contain 99% of all versions of all songs that were recorded by Queen and solo members + many unreleased versions + many demos + 2 DVDs full of bootlegs ;o) I just want to thank to many people here, especially to Bokkeepot, Serry, Djaef and many others... |

como tan florero maruga... y si, a JSS se le paso la mano esta vez well, this time JSS was a little rude.... there is a statement in spanish that i dont know how to translate accurately but is like " No seamos mas Papistas que el Papa" solo eso i guess anyone of us would like to has the "perfect fan behaviour" but for that you will need to live in europe where everything is in the stores, or to have money enought to buy and spent... for example.. i earn good money but i dont have a bank account the kind of allow me to buy in ebay most of the things... and most important i cannot spent that money so often.. so for me the queen official catalog is the real OFFICIAL thing.... everything else is just being too extremist... i think sometimes some people here falls into a Nazi attitude, of who is a good or bad fan... and everything not english spoken is bad.... now i understand why the world is how it is.... as if everyone has completely legal copies of all the software you use... sorry, sometimes all this piss me off.... |

Maruga: If I appear rude, I apologise. Bill Richards is NOT a wealthy man. So to invest some monies, he takes HIS acetate demos, and has to spend his life savings to make an LP at his own expense. This LP is Copyrighted by the studio which cut the disc. He makes very little profit from his enterprise. Now after being so kind as to make these tracks available in the first place, (and they can still be purchased from him directly), rather than pay him for his efforts, some people feel it is OK to rip him off, and to steal this material from him. Perhaps once again, I am being rude, but I think this is unfair, as it still breaks copyright law (as the disc is still officially available), and the theft is not from a large corporation like EMI, but a small personal business venture which cannot afford it. The e-bay advertising by a fan selling the 'Crazy Chain' CD is not correct. While it is true only 500 copies of the LP 'On The Left Handed Side Of The Right Handed Marriage' were cut c1968, this disc did NOT feature Brian May, and is also out of print. However, 'Crazy Chain', the CD (and cassette tape version) from which tracks like 'Appointment' and 'She Was Once My Friend' were taken from, is still legally available, and because of this, I think that stealing this material and fencing it in here is morally wrong. Likewise, I think to steal the Tim Staffell 'Amigo' material, or the Double Dutch release 'Ghost Of A Smile' is also not acceptable. All this leads to, IMO, such people witholding similar tracks, because no sooner do they publish at great personal expense, to find that their small nest-eggs are splashed all over the internet. The 'No Official Material' rule should equally apply to the 'small guys' as well as the large corporations - because even though the former may not be able to afford to bring such copyright charges to court, it is still just as legally wrong to steal from them, as it is with any other company. |
John S Stuart 18.02.2006 23:15 |
Maruga_Mercury: After reading the above mail, do you still REALLY feel the need to upload the 'Left Handed Marriage' material in here, even though it is not yours to do so, with the full knowledge that you are stealing from the only band member who made this available in the first place? Again, all I can do is appeal to your better nature, and ask you to reconsider, and keep it to your self. After all, I guess many people in here own this stuff already without you needing to provide it on tap. I am sorry if I am seen as some sort of Kill-joy, but I feel my motives are genuine, and it is not as if I am being personal and having a go at you only, in fact, I think I am very consistant in asking for official material to be removed, as I think this stand is what keeps this 'zone on the side of good and righteousness. |

I know that you are a decent and good person, and that this was a genuine mistake, and I know that you want to do the right thing. So again, I thank you. As I said, this was released by the owner as a business venture to make some money in his old age, but the problem with that is once it is 'out there' and on the internet, no-one then buys the thing, which, I think is a great shame really. I know it may be asking a lot from some, but I think it is a good thing to suppport the artsist when, and if we can. So once again, on the artists behalf, I say thank you very much. |
