As much as I like Freddie and Queens music, I cant help feel disenchanted by Freddie's personality, especially in the 80s.
Pretty much, I think Freddie Mercury was a 'try-hard' and the punk movements banter of him was correct.
For example, the whole 'glam' image, especially in the 80s when Freddie disassociated himself with any literary quality which was present in Queens earlier works.
What do u think
I agree completely! In fact, this website and forum were set up to give people an outlet to exchange information about what a talentless, useless, unsympathetic git Freddie Mercury was.
We all know he never did anything of value in his life, and this is just the place to complain about it. Welcome!
regards,
Paul Rodgers.
PS Did you know he was GAY??????????

I dont think that he was a phony but it must have been kind of obvious that something was wrong with queen when all of a sudden in the late 80's FM started dressing straight and not touring. Do you agree?

LOL - great post
I hate Freddie Mercury so much! What pisses me off is that he died just so Brian and Roger would have to tour with Paul Rodgers! Who the hell just up and dies? What was his problem????? </sarcasm>
Your responses have been heartwarming, thank you.
In fact I feel compelled to share with you my greatest treasure, which is a solo-ukelele version of "All Right Now". If I could just find it.....
I apologise to Paul Rodgers for using his name, I think he's had enough abuse here. I'm having a hard time warming to his personality, but he's one heck of a singer.
PS Not only was Freddie Mercury gay, I also read he's had relationships with men!
Freddie Mercury was not gay! shut up shut up shut up!!! I swear he and I will hook up even though he's dead and 40 years older than me! IT WILL HAPPEN! (that's me making fun of some of the fangirls here)
It's hard for people to accept change. But if you don't change, you don't risk. Freddie would have been a phony if he would have complied with what only people wanted. He risked to do other things, some were more popular than others. Oh, well.
He was true to himself, that makes no man a phony.
Holy Cow? You think he was a phoney?
He was a great composer, a singer with amazing vocal range, a talented piano player, and had the ability to captivate the audience with his stage presence.
He did change, but that only shows growth and his fearless attitude not to succumb to pressure to maintain the status quo. He and other band members were ready for a break from each other after so many years. I don't see it as being phoney, I see it as moving on and changing as one grows.
The idea of Freddie being a phony is ridiculous at best.
He was one of rock's best showmen, singers, songwriter, and a great pianist.
He always tried hard to avoid compromising.
His struggle for Bohemian Rhapsody proves that.
He took a lot of risks during his career and was a strong individual.
Whatever else Freddie was he was not a "phony".
