I doubt if this is geniune John,
Listen very very carefully, Or even try to open it in a multitrack program.
The pause after the 2nd stomp stomp clap is longer than any other gap. Which makes me think someone has done some 'copy/paste' job

Niek: Doubt away, but genuine it IS. This version actually dates from the mid c1980's.
I agree with you in that I think this is a loop, but, I also know this loop come from the SOURCE recording. (You don't think the band just stood and stomped perfect time for over 3 mins do you?). So the ORIGINAL loop must have been a "copy/paste job" somewhere along the line!
Also this is not the original master version - is it? It is a copy from a copy. Therefore as it is an MP3 of a degenerated copy - why should it open in a multi-track program? Why not run just the first section of the 'Karaoke version' (the stomping bit) as an MP3 through your multi-track software and see what information you get from that! I bet that too comes up as 'fake'.
As for the longer gap between the second stomp, I fail to see your point. Surely if it was 'looped' as a cut 'n paste only, every second gap would be out consistantly?
As I said above, even I don't think it is that interesting, (also - unlike the 'Karaoke version' - it is a bit boring) but, I do find it a bit insulting to assume that I would just up-load something which was complete sh*t - particularly something which was NOT genuine!
If you are unhappy with it's authenticity - ditch it. I didn't see anyone holding a gun at your head to download it.
Daytime Edit: What would you expect the original to sound like anyway?
John I wasn't questioning your honesty, don't worry about that. Since I know you're an honest guy.
I was just wondering if this wasn't the work of a fan. But thanks for clearing it up

Do I look like one? I try to not to.
My self-esteem it is devastated now.

Haha. I thought maybe something different happened halfway through, but no. :P
I may add that the only reason I stuck this up here was that those guys who are into re-mixing, could have something of a solid base to start from - if they needed it.
However, I never really thought about them creating one for themselves!
Oh well, you live and learn. (Mostly with hindsight!).
But with 170 downloads, I thought there may have been a few more replies!
