Great stuff, John. From Mr. Scully's site about Roger's appearance with Robert Plant: 22.06.1983 TV show, Milton Keynes, UK (with Robert Plant) 01. Little Sister 02. Treat Her Right 03. Sea Of Love 04. Pledge Pin 05. Other Arms 06. In The Mood 07. Big Log 08. Like I've Never Been Gone 09. Worse Than Detroit 10. Other Arms 11. In The Mood 12. Big Log (with a very long drum intro) 13. Fat Lip 14. Burning Down One Side I assume June 22nd was the date it was recorded. Also, Brian's Star Fleet EP was recorded April 21 & 22nd, 1983. |

Thanks for that Lester. As an aside, does anyone actually have a copy of this? "There Must Be More To Life Than This later donated to Queen archive by Michael Jackson." Why was it not on the Freddie box, then? |
bitesthedust 03.12.2005 06:36 |
Michael Jackson does not want that song, plus State Of Shock or Victory to be released, apparently... As he owns some of the copyrights I guess he can put a block on any attempts... |

MJ owns copyrights to There Must Be More To Life Than This? I don't think so. I guess it's a question of different recording labels mostly. FM couldn't appear on Roger's Shove It album because of Virgin Records Ltd, maybe MJ can't appear on EMI releases... About Bo Rhap: Alex, are you sure it's not Bad Company's version? :) EDIT: Damned, this Paul Rodgers changed my mind! I meant Bad News! Shame on me! |

YourValentine wrote: "There Must Be More To Life Than This later donated to Queen archive by Michael Jackson." Why was it not on the Freddie box, then?Good question - I do not know. I think Jim Beach wanted to hold on to it - so he could release it as as single. Bad move though, as he did not reckon with the internet. As for the Michael Jackson copyrights, as far as I know, he has no interests whatsoever, and holds NONE. This is now 100% Queen Productions property, and that is why none of the retrospective Michael Jackson packages have included any Freddie material. |

About Bo Rhap: Alex, are you sure it's not Bad Company's version? :)Freddie is on Shove It...he sings Heaven For Everyone. Spike Edney says: "And of course Freddie's version [of HFE] is fantastic! But he wasn't actually allowed to be singing on a Roger Taylor solo album, because of his own solo recording contract, which all gets very complicated. So Fred couldn't be credited... But when released it as a single, they had to release the Roger version. Virgin Records owned this track. And what amazed me was, when Freddie died, they didn't even know they owned a track with Freddie Mercury singing on it!" |

This is another of those little bits I forget about, as primarilly it is not really that interesting until the finale. This version of 'Love Of My Life', was the first time a non-Freddie variation was available. I never knew the band was ever involved with Victory, I thought all that existed was some sort of home recording with someone banging on a door as makeshift drumming. That may be a total misconception, LOL. |

I'm not personally familiar with this specific track, but as John S. Stuart writes "2001 Convention", it seems information about the song was provided at said convention in some form. |
