Hi guys, many people say that Queen´s tours were the most brilliant and biggest shows ever. I saw them play in Madrid'05 and was stunned. Experts say that great shows started with Queen, so my question is if that's true( i think so) or not.
I'd also like to know if Queen had friends in other bands, because, for instance, I've seen Mick Jagger in Wembley'86's backstage. So maybe apart from Elton john, Queen were friends with many other artists. Thank u guys
In my opinion, Queen possibly could be the best live band. Sheer energy wise and showmanship, and with arguably the greatest frontman, they were pretty damn awesome.
Although, that said, that isn't to say other bands arent good live. It just depends on what you like really. I know that Electric Six and Limp Bizkit were very good live, with the latter being one of the most energy fuelled gigs I've ever been to. Michael Jackson, although a different sort of concert, was absolutely amazing too. Muse and the Foo's, who are currently two of the best live bands on the planet, are pretty cracking too. Then again, I've got friends who say U2 are good live, but they are no way my cup of tea, same with bands like Iron Maiden etc - friends of mine who were at Reading said they were great, but I personally don't see what all the fuss is about.

I think Queen's live performances were all great, but the most beautiful in the world were Pink Floyd ones!
I saw them in Venice in 1989 and they were incredible! ;)
I been too many great concerts....one of my thrills was Queen (Brian and Roger) playing in a small club in Hollywood for the Walk of Fame Star...obviously from 73 to 86 Queen Ruled as the best live band....77-84 may be their true peak period....
Other great concerts I have seen that rank close to Queen's range would be: Queensyrche (Promised Land Tour), Metallica in a small club, Brian May touring (as support) with Guns N Roses and by himself too, Aerosmith recently (they weren't so good in 87, ......I've watched the Stones and they really weren't that great....
But to your question of who Queen were friends with in other bands....Brian was friends with almost everyone....including Def Leppard, Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath, Cozy Powell and Neil Murray (Whitesnake and other bands) who joined his band....partly just because Brian is tremendously respected in the music industry and well regarded as being a nice guy as well....don't know about the others other than Roger's friendship with Rick Parfitt from Status Quo
I think Queen pushed the envelope in a new period of music where visual art and theatrics began to take their place among live performing. I think the band all went with it, but the credit for this area of Queen obviously falls at least 90% on Freddie's shoulders.
Queen is to me by far the greatest live band for too many reasons to list.

Pink Floyd are amazing...Live 8 made me really wish again that they'd go back on tour together.
But anyway, I think Queen are up there, but the best is subjective. There's not many bands that can outdo them, though.
