Okay so this is a little long winded, but if you stick with it to the end there is a real hope that we can make Queenzone a slightly more interesting place to be, while at the same time cater to the personal tastes of every single Queenzoner (even the stepfords and general numpties). The main problem with this board is that there is very little about Queen left to discuss that we haven't already discussed. The general lack of imagination shown by Queen Productions in general. The pros and cons of Paul Rodgers replacing Freddie. Will John ever involve himself in Queen? The size of Freddie's erect penis. These kind of subjects take up about 25% of the space on this message board. Another 25% is taken up with polls and lists. The remaining half is nothing more than an excuse to see your name on the screen. It's getting to the point where it's not worth logging on to Queenzone unless your bored and want the rest of the world to know about it. Now instead of just complaining about the problem I have decided to try and do something to solve it. It's around about this point that you are starting to lose interest and are feeling annoyed because you thought it was a typical fatty story and there hasn't been a single joke yet. Well I'm sorry but this is one of the 0.01 times that I'm actually being serious for a change. Here's an idea. Lets talk about something everyone would get exited about that's been mentioned a couple of times in the past but never really goes anywhere. QUEEN: THE MOVIE. What kind of film would it be? Who would you like to see cast in the roles? What time span would the movie cover? Would it have an original soundtrack or use the original songs of Queen? Who would it appeal to? Is it commercially viable? This is the subject we will discuss but you have to ask your own questions and form your own opinions. If for example you think the film should cover everything from the birth of Freddie to the Q+PR Tour, start a thread saying so and explaining why. If someone disagrees with you and thinks the film should start with Freddie's death and do the rest in flashback you should reply in the same thread but explain why you think that's a better idea. Keep it civil and take other peoples ideas on board without regarding it as some kind of personal insult. If things do get a little nasty, then by all means start another thread explaining why this other person's views offend you so much. The important thing is not to hijack what could become an interesting thread by going completely off topic. All I ask is that you start each title of the individual thread on with the letters QZE (which stands for Queenzone experiment. You can start as many different threads on as many different veiws concerning the movie but try and make them worthwhile reading. Don't be so predictable as to start a thread with a title like: QZE-Important news. and then tell us what you're having for your tea. All that will happen is people will quickly learn to ignore your threads. So come on folks let's kick a little interest in the boards even if it's just to call me a tosser, at least I'll give you a thoughtful response. Keep this thread free for any questions you have regarding this experiment but any other threads on the movie should be started on a seperate one. Just remember to put QZE before the title. Here's hoping fatty. |

The first thing I thought when I read about a Queen movie on your thread was, ''what has worked in the past?'' However, one of Queen's trademarks was to be original and create something entirely new. The making of a film should have that in mind and be strikingly innovative. It's hard to break from the molds of what we've been limited to imagine, but we can do it! :) Perhaps the thing to do would not be to do a 'Queen' movie, but make a movie supported with Queen songs. They did this with the Beatles and the movie I Am Sam. They also had cover artists (which I know would drive us all insane!) ;) So maybe it could work. Or maybe we'd have Flash Gordon and Highlander all over again. Hmm. Well, maybe one of you guys can build off creating a plot from Queen songs and make it non-WWRY brilliance! I'll think about the who, what, when, etc questions later on. I need to comtemplate a bit more on those. Wanted to get the initial thoughts out, though. |

Wow fatty being serious and not funny. Damn spammers. Ok as you said about a Queen Movie personally I'd like to see three movies.Basically you cant really summarizing Queen's history in 120 minutes. 1. Queen is born 2. Queen Ruling The Globe 3. Aftermath- Death and Settling down. I know I know. Crap titles. But the first should show the birth or a untold story type of thing on each member until they joined Queen. The second movies should be the album and raising sucess to legends. From Barry Mitchell to Jim Hutton in terms of people history. And aftermath should be interviews and recent solo works and stuff. Ends with a montage with the words "the legend will still go on" and end credits either WWRY or TSMGO. Doesnt sound like theatre to me but still same thing. Actors. Johnny Depp should be one of the bands (he is a real shapeshifter.) Hutton could be any Freddie impersonator. I'll leave the rest to the rest of the QZers |

Wait. Are we making a documentary or a movie? |

I know it's your opinion. I was just saying as well. ;) (and Orlando Bloom! Ew! No! I'd rather see Johnny Depp as Freddie!) :P |

fatty -I'm affraid majority of 'zoners AREN'T interested in serious discussions. Most of them enjoy discussing Freddie's penis size and the fact that Rodgers is(n't) better than Robbie, etc. Every attempt so far didn't work- Lester started two discussion threads- one died on page two, the other didn't even reach it. Hottest queenzone male award thread however reached 19 pages or something like that. Go figure... When Houston'77 gig was made avaliable for most Queen fans- it was something many ppl were waiting for years. And what? Nothing- one or two threads, don't think any longer than 2-3 pages... One could expect much more... Greg Brooks just updated his LIVE book- I expected at least some minor interest about it- did he fuck up again? Did he really make it good? Any new info there? Guess what- 2 pages, most of the posts saying "I still don't have it- where can I find it etc."... I know that different ppl find different things interesting, but... seems like most actually ARE interested in just being bored and telling us about it... I disagree with you- there ARE things worth discussing. What we lack is people willing to do so- we have got abundance of those interested in chatting, posting QUEEN RIP 1991 or wandering what the hell happened with John... Sad- but true... |

Sad- but true...I don't see what's so particularily sad about it. People are different, and there are different levels of interest in the band. Some like to have a friendly chat with other people who like Queen, and others will only discuss the subtle differences between Brian's guitar solos. I'm not really fond of the latter kind of topics myself because I'm not THAT interested in the group. |

Dear Fenderek, may I suggest you re-read fatty's post and consider the term 'serious' in connection with his post? Oh, wait - I should have started a new thread about that and possibly named it: NON-QZE: Fenderek's reply to fatty's thread :) |

Well... :) I still consider my point valid- but probably being in the wrong place :) |

I think if there was a movie it should be from the ending of smile to the tribute concert. The actors should be Johnny Depp-Freddie he is a great actor and can transform himself into anyone. Viggo Mortenson-Roger Viggo is a wonderful actor and takes pride in his work, he also kind looks like roger. i can not think of anyone for brian or john let me know if you have any ideas Sara |

The movie should start during the humble beginnings of Smile. Maybe when Bri and his dad are building the Red Special. And then, if necessary, it could flash back to moments in the bands' childhoods. I think it should also end where Queen were inducted in the RHoF. Why? I think it would be a better sense of closure to Queen, but still an assurance of Queen+. Also, it would only be too typical to end the film after the tribute concert. Cast? No idea. I know, probably not great so far. But then, we have to consider how many people Queen knew and find people who look like them. And then there's a budget and stuff. I estimate the movie may have to be a mini series because of it's length. I seriously doubt Queen's career can even be covered in three hours! |

I was thinking orlando but was wondering if he had enough practice. |

That is an awesome idea. Really, send that in to Queenonline, or Brian or someone involved in that kind of thing. I'm impressed. |

I was bantering around the idea of "Freddie Mercury: In My Defence." The story revolves around Freddie's judgement in the afterlife, whether he was truly "Made for Heaven" or would be sent to Hell. |
