Ahem.
My announcement to make is that I DIG Roger Taylor. He is a terrific drummer with a great voice, has a great sense of humor, and he's alleged to have once threatened a group of thugs hell bent on kicking the asses of all the guys in Queen after a gig by claiming he knew karate and that his hands were lethal weapons. And that line WORKED! Too freakin' funny!
I thought it was that he said he was a "licensed black belt" or something and he flashed them a card, saying that he had to tell them of that three times before he could legally beat them up......heheh....and it turned out the card was just a regular ID of some sort.....
That was either in As It Began or Queen: The Early Years, I forget which.....(or both?)
You guys are right.
I read that in Early Years. He said that he's obliged by law to warn them before kicking their asses and showed them some school ID or sth claiming that this is his "Karate Licence Card" or whtever. It bloody worked :)
I'll just answer to that by saying that I don't think I'm alone here to believe that Roger was a total hottie in the 70s, BECAUSE of how he looked and because of his voice and songs.... link
Roger wrote plenty in the 70's. And I'll have you know, In the 80's and early 90's he wrote all sorts of stuff like Innuendo, (that's credited "Queen" but wrote the lyrics and most of the music) Under Pressure, (same as Innuendo) It's A Kind Of Magic, Radio Ga Ga, (how can you hate after listening to THAT SONG!?!?!) Breakthru and The Invisable Man. HOW CAN YOU DISLIKE HIM AFTER LISTENING TO THESE MASTERPIECES!!!!!!!..... point made
