So they performed Let There Be Drums but changed the title as a tribute to this guy?
Something like Brighton Rock solo (Wembley CD/DVD) which in fact has almost nothing to do with Brighton Rock anymore? :-)
Just another example of the growing insanity in the camp.
Maybe he'll call the next one Let There Be Moonie or Let There Be Bonzo or Let There Be Ringo........well, maybe not the last one, eh....?
sorry..I play guitar....so why is this Gene guy legendary??? It should probably be Let there be Roger or Let There Be Queen+Paul Rodgers....or just Let There Not Be A Title To This One....
Gene Krupa was the forefather of all virtuoso drummers - what he did paved the way for people like Keith Moon to take the instrument to their own new level.
A true genius.

Yep - can't disagree with you there, but possibly, Krupa was more of an influence on Roger than Buddy Rich was......
I totally disagree!
Gene Kruppa was a top class drummer. He is considered one of the best drumers of all time. He was also an actor and participated in a movie with Marylin Monroe.
He was an idol for drummers such John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) and Roger Taylor and to this day he has recorded some of the fastest drum solos there is.
Legend says that when john Bonham arrived at Carnegie Hall for a Led Zeppelin concert in 1969 he looked at the house and said: "This was the exact place where Kruppa played "sing, sing, sing" (a must for all drum players), today i have to be as good as he was". That night Bonham played one of the fastest drum solos ever!!
A quote by Neil Peart of Rush:
"I can hardly do better than quote something Gene Krupa once said, that there are all these great drummers in the world -- and then there's Buddy Rich. During the making of our tribute record to his music, Burning For Buddy, I immersed myself pretty deeply in Buddy's life and work, and the more I learned, the more I came to admire the man and his music. Quite simply, Buddy Rich was a great man, who did great work."
A quote by Gene Krupa:
"Buddy Rich is the greatest drummer who ever drew breath"

But I´m not saying that Gene Kruppa was better than Buddy. What i´m tryin to say is, when you reach a high level of performance like this two guys, i don´t think it´s fair to say that one is better than another.
On the other hand, i could say that the biggest beast i saw hitting the drums was John Bonham from Led Zeppelin and he´s considered by most modern drummers as the all time best. But for Bonham the best was Kruppa. It´s like going in circles, that´s why i like to say that all this guys are different between them but are unmachless for the others!
Take care
