Excluding Innuendo is understandable; I feel that is a very overrated album. A Day at the Races I could see just barely missing the top 5. But Queen II...definately top 5 material there. |

I would. I'm sure most of my reasoning is nostalgia -- it was the first Queen album I bought off the shelves. My family bought Game and Live Killers, but this was the first I got with my hard-earned allowance cash. Hot Space gets a bad rap, but I'd blame most not on the songs themselves, but on production. What's up with the drum sound? Calling All Girls is one of my favorite Queen tracks of all time. Put Out The Fire, Life is Real, great songs. Give me Staying Power over One Year Of Love, ya know? I have a review in Cream magazine that gave Hot Space an actual good review. To me, this album shows what could have happened with Queen if they kept experimenting. Hot Space gets a bad rap because it broke some of their confidence, but that only shows up in AKOM, Miracle. Again IMHO. |

I didn't say it sucked, I said it was overrated. |

It is my favorite more often that the others. To me, you have to sit and listed to things like QII and Innuendo. I listen to Hot Space almost every weekend while getting ready to go out. It just puts me in a great mood. It is simple enough that I can 'ignore' it but still hear everything that's going on. It isn't distracting while getting ready. |
Scott_Mercury 09.05.2005 14:23 |
Overated??? Innuendo Overated?? I think not. You know what is overated at Queenzone.com?? Queen 2. Seriously.... I think the 2 albums that came before (Queen 1) and after (Sheer Heart AttacK) ....absolutely, without question, blow Queen 2 out of the water. Had Queen put out 10 albums of Queen 2 sounding stuff..... I would not be on this website, because I wouldn't be that big of a fan. |
Maruga 09.05.2005 14:35 |
Hot Space it's not one of my favourites, but my Queen¡s top five album is: 1. Innuendo. 2. A Night At The Opera. 3. Jazz. 4. Queen II. 5. A Day At The Races. |

1. A Night at the Opera 2. News of the World 3. A Day at the Races 4. Greatest Hits 3 5. Queen No, Hot Space is just slim of making the top 5.. And Queen II to me was just after Hot Space. All I have to say is to each his own. |
hotspacerules 09.05.2005 20:42 |
I would - its safe to say that this has a awesome blend of funk, hard rock, and r & b......when you listen to staying power and backchat on live at the bowl, you realize how much even better those songs were live - las palabras? brillant......body language - creepy but catchy....calling all girls....pure 80s - this album rules!!!!! |
Scott_Mercury 09.05.2005 21:28 |
From up above... I wasn't dissing "Queen 2" as an "early gem". Queen 1 is one of my favorite Queen albums. I just think Queen 2 is easily the most overated Queen album from the fans. Queen 2 has the most songs of any Queen album on it that I personally don't care for at all. I really only like 4 songs on Queen 2... 1) Father to son 2) The Loser in the End 3) Nevermore 4) March of the Black Queen Thats right...I like "The Loser in the End" better than: White Queen Some Day One Day Orge Battle The Fairy Fellers Master Stroke These songs all sound like lame B-sides that weren't good enough for Queen 1. Had I been alive to buy Queen 1 when it came out...(which is a f**king masterpiece) ..... then anticipated the arrival of Queen 2 for a year... And then played Queen 2 .....oh, what a letdown that would have been for me. For me...and I know, I am in a minority here: Hot Space > Queen 2 |
Grantcdn 09.05.2005 22:11 |
Absolutely not....it would be a good album for many other bands but not Queen....just too much of weak songs like Body Language and Cool Cat and poor production....too much synth, poor drum sounds and not enough guitar.... and on that other thread re: Queen II....it was good but I don't think it stacks up to other albums...maybe because certain tracks sound a bit dated now (not up to Queen's later production standards)...the White Side was the best side more me although many Queen II fantatics would prefer the Freddie side... I would still prefer Innuendo, A Night At the Opera, The Miracle, The Works, Jazz, News Of The World, Sheer Heart Attack and Queen 1. |
bohemianrhap84 09.05.2005 23:35 |
Hot Space is very underated!!! Staying Power, Under Pressure, Las Palabras de Amor! Great Songs! Yes, there are some songs that aren't that great on it: Dancer, Body Language. But they're not that bad. Here's my top 5 albums: 5. The Game 4. Queen 3. A Night At The Opera 2. The Works 1. Innuendo |
Rafael Macedo 09.05.2005 23:51 |
1- INNUENDO 2- A NIGHT AT THE OPERA 3- A DAY AT THE RACES 4- QUEEN 2 5- QUEEN 6- THE MIRACLE 7- SHEER HEART ATTACK 8- JAZZ 9- A KIND OF MAGIC 10- THE GAME 11- MADE IN HEAVEN 12- FLASH 13- THE WORKS 14- NEWS OF THE WORLD 15- HOT SPACE FOR ME, HOT SPACE WAS A TERRIBLE RECORD... BUT, MISTAKES HAVE GUIDED THE BAND TO BETTER THINGS... AND BY THE WAY, I THINK INNUENDO IS STILL UNDERRATED... THAT RECORD HAS NOT RECIEVED YET, THE MERIT IT DESERVES... |
Saint Jiub 10.05.2005 00:04 |
IMHO all Queen studio albums have many positive aspects. However, I rank Hot Space at #14 above Flash Gordon and below Innuendo. If find Innuendo to be highly over-rated (yes Caspar - I am deaf) ... and I have expressed this opinion several times before. My top 5 studio albums at the moment: aDatR SHA tM MiH Q2 |
bohemianrhap84 10.05.2005 02:07 |
You can't be serious that Flash Gordon is in your top 5! It only has two actual songs. Though The Hero is a great song. Here's the right list with best song(studio albums) 15. Flash Gordon The Hero 14. A Kind Of Magic Princes Of The Universe 13. Jazz Jealousy 12. Hot Space Staying Power 11. News Of The World We Are The Champions 10. Sheer Heart Attack Flick Of The Wrist 9. Made In Heaven Mother Love 8. The Miracle I Want It All 7. A Day At The Races Teo Torriatte 6. Queen II March Of The Black Queen 5. The Game Save Me 4. Queen Liar 3. A Night At The Opera Bohemian Rhapsody 2. The Works It's A Hard Life 1. Innuendo The Show Must Go On |

I like hot space when they play the songs live. I don't like the studio album. And about Queen II : I think it's quite boring sometimes. My top 5 is : 1. Jazz ( I just like all the songs, it's a very variated album) 2. News of the world ( I like all the songs except GDML) 3. A Day at the races (I like all the songs, but YTKBA is boring sometimes) 4. The game (very nice album with much more bass and that's good) 5. Sheer Heart Attack (very variated album and it's not overproduced like Queen II) |

I can't find my Hot Space cd. I'm probably going to have to buy a new one. :'( |
teejay 14.05.2005 12:22 |
For me Hot Space is on a par with The Game, If about half the tracks on each were put together then you'd get a really really excellent album - you'd also, by default get easily their worst. My tracklisting would be - Play the Game; Dragon Attack; AOBD;CLTCL:Sail Away Sweet Sister; Save Me; Dancer; Back Chat; Put out the Fire; Life is Real; Las Palabras de Amor; Under Pressure & the live version of Staying Power. I have to say that Hot Space probably includes some of the worst tracks (to my ears anyway) I mean Action This Day, Cool Cat, Body Language - ? |

it's not my favorite, but i wouldn't mind having it. |
