Seems like people are not quite pleased with having 'A Kind Of Magic' as part of the setlist. I'm not surprised though, becuase although I really like the song, it doesn't really sound good live.
Now there's a lot of better choices out there, and I think that the one I have most commonly seen requested that wasn't included on the setlist is 'It's Late'.
Perhaps we should e-mail Brian to tell him to make the switch.
Haven't you noticed the lightshow during Magic?
It's awesome. Of course they could use that on other songs, in that way, but for me there's no need to skip it. Would love to have other songs though, indeed Spread Your Wings or Sleeping on the Sidewalk (the last one Brian did in Cologne at the musical afterparty and it was great).
Good to hear Under Pressure in now on, but too bad that Feel Like Making Love has been dropped also... perfect stage song!
Brian won't react to e-mails asking for one of Queen's biggest selling singles to be dropped - Parlophone will have listed that as one of the songs that must be played at every show.
Not that I have seen a show in person but from hearing the official and bootleg recordings I am glad they dropped The Show Must Go On. It just did not sound good.
Paul Rodgers is an amazing vocalist but he just could not sing that song.
I also think he'd struggle with Spread Your Wings, much as I'd love to hear it. Breakthru would make for a good rocker, although John would be much missed. I've always been a sucker for Sail Away Sweet Sister, which has always sounded great live. Need Your Loving Tonight would be a nice change, or Keep Yourself Alive. But both those would struggle to give broad appeal to the average Joe, as would It's Late.
One Vision would be a straight swap, but I'm sure something will be altered as, for some strange reason which I can't put my finger on, A Kind Of Magic didn't really work.
Just so long is it ain't a Free song, I'm sure it'll be capital.
"...Parlophone will have listed that as one of the songs that must be played at every show"
Parlophone has no input on which songs "have to be played" or not on this Tour! They could easily have played the "Rolling Stones Greatest Hits" forwards and backwards if they felt to do so... thanx they didnt, by the way! ;-)
I like Paul doing AKOM. My opinion but I think it sounds great.
I am in full favour of a revolving setlist (ala jambands) so they could play the 70 or 80 songs we all want to hear.
Yes "It's Late"!!
I'm with Mr Jingles. AKOM is one of those songs, like Killer Queen for example, that just doesn't work live. I've been pushing for It's Late since the beginning and have already mailed both Paul and Brian about it. And not in a stalking fan kind of way either.
They should only play a couple of Paul Rodgers songs too. If he wants the exposure this tour is bringing him then learn some more friggin' Queen tunes. It's not like Sammy Hagar sang more than two of his own songs when he joined VH (he just wouldn't sing many of the Dave songs!).
Well, I Love A Kind Of Magic( my nick says it all). Why drop it? I Love this live version, much more close to the Highlander OST version..
AKOM Should be there...
Having been there on Wednesday in Manchester, my opinion is that this version we are hearing is flat. The live version they did on the Magic tour was excellent, but this just seems so different.
Without being deperemental to Paul, who's doing a valliant job on the tour, I just don't think that Magic is suited for him. Roger did a good job of singing Magic on his tours and it is a Roger song.
If Roger doesn't want to sing on Magic, then my suggestion to replace it would be Headlong. I think something with a bit more edge perhaps than Magic, would be more suited to his voice. While having a good voice, I don't think it's best suited to "pop".
this is really ridiculous ! Ok, it's possible that you don't like the song, but we have to thank Brian en Roger for this wonderful tour instead of complaining. THEY are the ARTISTS and it's up to them to make a setlist. A few months ago, before this tour, it was possible to send your "dream setlist" to Bri and Roger. But is still up to them to decide which songs they want to play. So please, be thankful and don't e-mail about this !!!!!!!!!!!
