As all of us Queen fans are concern, Queen to us is the greatest band ever. But f course we know that In reality The Beatles are the greatest band in history. So my question is, not taking Queen as our favorite band in the world but approaching it in a serious form, is Queen the second greatest band of all time? I dont know if this has been posted before, and if it has I apologise. Sa. |

No offense but I haven't listened to the Beatles since I was like 10. My favorite bands in order are: Queen Heart The Allman Brothers Band U2 Genesis But if I was a music "Scholar" and had to go by the Most Influential greatest band not using muy own favoratism. Queen U2 The Allman Brothers Band Led Zeppelin |

I personally really dontlike The Beatles. I know they were revolutionaries in the music world blah blah blah jadah jadah jadah, but i really dont think theyre that great, but since everyone says theyre in a class of there own this is how I see it: 1)The Beatles 2)Queen 3)Led Zeppelin 4)Pink Floyd 5)Rolling Stones or The Who |

I think the Beatles are overrated...i really can't listen to an entire Beatles cd really...believe me i tried. Sure i respect them, nothing more nothing less. |

Queen are the band I know most about, and I like them 100 times as much as ANY other band. The other bands I just like the music of are: Dire Straits UB40 The Beatles (see my profile for more) But these are nothing compared to Queen to me. I personally only own Queen albums, and will perhaps buy some other albums when I have more money, but I'm not particuarly bothered. Whether The Beatles are the greatest band or not is just opinion. I think it terms of recognition The Beatles win, but I still love Queen a whole lot more than them. |

I've never understood the appeal of The Beatles. I think George Harrison's solo stuff alone runs circles around their material. The playing and singing on most Beatles stuff is average at best and the lyrics are often laughable. I remember reading on someone's site a tag line "The Beatles were first, but Queen were the Best". |
Chezza 12.04.2005 16:01 |

Yeah, there are some songs of the Beatles that aren't that great. I know I never listen to several songs on the White Album. And their albums inbetween Please, Please Me and A Hard Day's Night are simliar, and not that all that inspiring. The second half of Abbey Road (my favorite album) can be seen as stupid/weird/pointless (I must add that the first half without a doubt rocks! "I Want You", you can't play that one loud enough). And the movie Magical Mystery Tour is very, very odd. But we all make mistakes. Has ANY artist ANYWHERE ever done EVERYTHING so that EVERYONE thinks it's genius? No. There's no way that would happpen. Every artist has some discrepency against them that they make in the first place. Personally, I am a Queen fan who converted from being a Beatle fan. Well, actually, it was four years off the Beatles (with general stuff, I'd listen to most anything that wasn't country or modern), before I got into Queen. So, the Beatles are a good band. Queen is great. But they are so for different reasons. Beatles had great songs, were pioneers and WERE revolutionary. Queen had great songs, were fantasic performers, and also were finding new things to do in music. You are ignoring so much if you say "the Beatles were absoultely not revolutionary". That's a load of bullocks. You're ignoring Sgt. Pepper, the first album of its kind. The best selling album I might add til Saturday Night Fever's soundtrack came along (enter the seedlings of crappy pop influence). Nor can you ignore the White Album. They also influenced so many musical artists to come after them. If I remember correctly, there's this one band ... also four guys ... who were influenced by the Beatles. Who were they, I just can't remember? :P How can something you all admire so much grow from something as "horrible" as you make it seem to be? They had a good message/vibe about them too. "All you need is love". Then again, we're all entitled to an opinion, and some will refuse to listen/read/comprehend what others say so they will still see the world/their world the way they like. You can disagree with another's opinion, so long as you consider it as well. Otherwise, you're just being an ignorant ass. I'm sure there are some people out there who will argue with anyone til their last breathing day that either Frank Sinatra, The Doors, Barry Manilow, Mozart,Led Zepplen, Beethoven, N*SYNC, Talking Heads, Def Leppard (that one's for you, Lep ;)), Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, William Shatner, Iron Butterfly, Aretha Franklin, Green Day, Billy Holiday, The Kinks, Buddy Holly, Elvis or WHOEVER will be the ulimate artist/band/singer of ALL TIME. So really it's a mute point. This post will end up being everyone's opinion on what is good, and what is not. And no one will merge. Or at least they won't post if they have. That'd be embarrassing. :) |

Queen is a GREAT BAND and you know the beatles haven't only beat queen is always number 10 and that is bull and we know that and they know that queen and the beatles should really share that title of number 1 and the crap about metallica and led zepplin being better than queen just look at the charts look at the charts and tell who is Number 1 not rolling stones, not floyd, not billy joel, not micheal jackson QUEEN just learn to ignore those top 10 lists it is all bullshit and magazine editor's favorites That is how it works Sorry man i always have a good laugh about the top 10 lists so look at the charts and then what ever list you're looking at and laugh your ass off |

Dude, I hear what youre saying and I understand. Im not bashing Queen or anything liek that> Queen is my favorite band and always will be. And I definetly know what youre talking about when it comes to Top something lists. Especially here in the US, Queen are almost never in any Top somthing List, and if they are they are always all the way at the bottom like in the 20s, 30s, or 40s. i agree with you. So I dont know why you think that i think The Beatles are better than Queen, cause Im certain The Beatles know, well Paul and Ringo, that Queen are better than the Beatles, its just that Paul will never admit it since he's a stuck up billionare. |

When I just consider the huge variety of songs by Queen (from 'The Fairy Feller's Master Stroke, to 'Innuendo'), I wonder how anyone can say that Queen isn't the world's greatest band. I now own all the queen albums (yippee!), and I always find different things to listen to. The Beatles are just not the same thing, for me. Neither is anything else, come to think of it. Queen are at the very top. |
Sonja 13.04.2005 12:12 |
Well, you have to consider the time they were around. When The Beatles started off they were a sensation, something completely new and that makes them the greatest band of all times because no other band had such an impact on the people as The Beatles. I love them. But their music is very simple regarding all the bands that followed. To me, Queen were the greatest band of all times but in general I think they had their big time a little bit too late to be in the top 5 of greatest bands. |

The Beatles were the FIRST band to write and perform their own songs. Yes, their early albums were crap compared to singles and wasn't until Rubber Soul(the UK edition) that the first truly great Beatles album was unleashed. Every album after that kicked ass, especially Sgt Pepper(my favorite Beatles album ever) and Abbey Road(second favorite). My favorite bands: 1)Pink Floyd and Queen(tie) 2)The Beatles 3)Led Zeppelin 4)The Rolling Stones 5)The Who 6)Rush 7)The Eagles 8)AC/DC 9)Judas Priest 10)Black Sabbath |

I think The Beatles or Led Zeppelin will always be considered the top band of all time, and as much as I love Queen, I don't think they'd be called the second greatest band of all time. They've never really been given the respect they deserve or the credit for how influential they actually are, and a lot of the time, they're written off as being too camp or too pop or something like that. To me, they're definitely up there with The Beatles, but I'm not sure if everyone else will ever agree. |

The Beatles were brilliant. And as Ozzy Osbourne said "saying you don't like The Beatles is like saying you don't like air". However, I disagree with the first statement in this topic. No person can tell you that one band is better than another. It's just an opinion. I believe the better band all round is Queen. I like some early Beatles stuff but alot of it is abit naff now. It's after about '65 when they truly became great. With Queen, there isnt an album the I don't like something on. But I also think Led Zeppelin are better than The Beatles. |
