I was listening to 94.7 The Arrow classic rock radio out of Rockville, Maryland/Washington, DC--I drive past and have been IN there station several times, played
WWRY and WATC last night, about dinner time I think.
They also played this morning about an hour ago...from Live Aid, Sting with Branford Marsalis doing "Roxanne". Great station!
Our local classic rock station 104.9 (The Wuzz) plays each of these songs 3-5 times a day MINIMUM:
Fat Bottomed Girls
Bicycle Race
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Somebody to Love
Bohemian Rhapsody
We Will Rock You
We are The Champions
You're My Best Friend
I turned it on for a second as I was typing this...Styx was going off, and the DJ said "Coming up in the 12'0 clock hour, we have the Who, who have a new album due out later this summer, Phil Collins, we'll hear from Aerosmith.....but first up we will hear Freddie and the boys of Queen looking for "Somebody to Love" that all happens next...
*Then they cut to commercial*
They cranked Winter's Tale all through X-mas.
Cool station.
A few months ago I was listening to a radio station that mostly just plays modern stuff and it was quite late at night when they were playing all this crappy dance music so I wasn't really paying much attention, I was reading or something. Then a new song came on and after about 30 seconds I suddenly thought "wait a second, that sounds like Freddie Mercury!" And I jumped up and sat right next to the radio and they were playing You Don't Fool Me. I was so excited and its quite good that I recognised it because I hadn't even heard it before then.
Arlene--
You live in the Washington DC area?
Me too!! That is really cool. You should email me and we can chat and maybe meet up sometime (that goes for any of you in the DC area)
I live in Baltimore County and I drive to Rockville every week to go to Tower Records (who carry ALL of the United Kingdom Publications and the newest CD releases),
and White Flint Mall which has the BIGGEST Borders Books & Music in Maryland and that Borders carries Many more music publications, CD's & books than any of the Borders in Balto. County, guess cause being on the outskirts of Wash. DC it caters to a more artsy, cosmopolitan crowd.
I have been IN 94.7 The Arrow's Radio Station several times...it's on Hubbard Drive across from the Giant/Barnes & Noble. You can see their van with the call letters shaped like a guitar on the parking lot.
WDRV 97.1 FM Zion/Chicago Illinois played TYMD at 10:15 a.m. on 4/6. Now that's unusual and quite fun rocking in my office!!
Last week after playing queen they mentioned that they are currently on tour in with Paul Rodgers on lead vocal and they "understand" the tour is slated to come over here.."we have not heard any thing official as of yet..but we'll be sure to let you know...etc.etc."
Another WOW. Their morning guy is Steve Downes who spent 10 years hosting ROCKLINE..that may have something to do with it.
