Currently the ONLY version of the Freddie Mercury Solo Collection that is available in the USA by Hollywood Records (that is, NOT an import by EMI, etc), is a watered down, 3 CD version. The complete 10 CD, 2 DVD with 120 page book Version, that is the Original Definitive version as it was meant to be, is unavailable in the USA because the powers that be think there is not enough demand for it with the USA audience. To you Freddie Mercury and Queen USA fans out there, if the Complete version of the FM Solo Collection was available here, are you interested in it and enough so in wanting to LEGALLY buy it? Sorry I had to add the legally buy it part, but I am getting tired of people saying they want recordings but only if they can illegally download it for free. So USA, do you want this Complete FM 10 CD, 2 DVD w/ 120 page book, Collection available in the States, and will you buy it? |

Quite a few stores carried it when it came out, best buy, circuit city for example. And no, I was not really happy with the 3cd version, Im not a big fan of Freddie solo's. |

I bought the complete version through Queen Online when it was originally released, so no, I would not buy it just for that reason alone. |
YourValentine 24.03.2005 05:30 |
You can buy it legally in the United States. |

Dennis: In Eindhoven it's still for sale, charged around 170 euro's. It's at the Van Leest store, so maybe they can send it to some Van Leest near you. |

I would buy it - eventually. I do think it is available at the Queen store in Vegas. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I saw it there. |

lol...cue lots of people whinging about lack of affordability, and begging for downloads... |

I paid over $200 dollars for an NTSC version, but only 8 of the 12 disks were worth getting IMHO (The interview disk was worthless, and I was not overjoyed at buying Barcelona, the Freddie Mercury Album, and Mr Bad Guy once again). Isn't the Freddie Mercury Box Set out of print by now, and thus fair game for downloading? I know the hub allows sharing the FM box set (except for the DoRo DVD). Shouldn't the slings and arrows be reserved for the downloaders of Teo Torriate and Live Aid etc? Oh - I would not buy a 2nd copy of the FM box set. |

I would love to hear their and Freddie's anecdotes, memories, and especially, their and Freddie's informative insights into the artistry and complexity of Freddie's genius and personality. |

The Freddie Box is still available in NTSC and in PAL format on QOL. It's obvious that there is always something you can criticise. At the time, Mr. Bad Guy was out of print and it was right to include the original albums into what was intended to be the ultimate Freddie collection. Personally, I thought the Untold Story was intrusive (although this has been topped by far with programmes like Freddie's Loves and Kenny Meets Freddie in the meantime) and of course you can criticise the text in the book, not to mention all the spelling and typing errors. But still, the Freddie box is one of the few releases where you feel it was not done for the profit. It's pretty complete and it's beautiful. The nice high quality pictures , the expensive paper, the picture discs, the whole design, the virtual Freddie exhibition and all the unreleased, previously unheard demos and outtakes, just superb. I remember well when PG was the only one who already had the box and wrote reviews each day on Queenrocker while the rest of us was waiting for our copies:) It's still one of my most treasured items. |

Can you post the direct link on QOL for me so when I save up I can buy the COMPLETE version on CD/DVD. I go on QOL every day and I never noticed it. Thank you again!!!! Also, I thought the interview DVD had actual interviews WITH Freddie. Does it? I want that over interviews that you say are intrusive with other people. And I would LOVE to have "Mr Bad Guy", (the original version, not the remixed version.) |

Er...is it the box that you treasure or my ramblings? Seriously, YV has summed it up - it's a superb box - not perfect, but good enough to be a benchmark for any theoretical/mythical Queen boxes |

I bought it when it originally came out at my local music store. And Zeni, I love interviews. |

Please get back to me and let me know if that is the one you bought, ...where you bought it, (if in the USA), price, and....if you like it. Thanks, Arlene |

When the set was released the fall/winter of 2000, there were several US websites that offered it. I bought mine from CDUniverse for $120. Since then, I doubt you could find any American retailer offering it short of ebay or Amazon auctions. As mentioned earlier, the QOL shop is your most reliable choice, albeit a price-gouging one at that. link And glad to see there are other interview lovers out there, Janet. Most fans just want that fancy music. |
Saint Jiub 25.03.2005 22:42 |
I recall the David Wigg interview to have a lot of background noise and difficult to listen to or understand. Of course if my memory is faulty I'l blame it on not listening to the interview in over four years. |

I loved the interview disc, too. |
Maz 25.03.2005 23:13 |
They are pretty rough sounding, Rip, but when you consider how rarely Freddie gave interviews, that disc is a virtual treasure trove. And I always knew there was a reason we kept Miss James around here. |
