Mr. Scully 11.03.2005 09:39 |
I've really lost patience today... let's summarize how this special Brixton lottery, based on some UEFA system (or whatever), actually worked: - it was strictly for QOL & QFC - VERY controversial but still relatively acceptable - several people won more than once (some guy won three times) - people who haven't entered the lottery, won too - people who joined QOL as late as in February, won too I didn't win so I had to get a ticket via my German friends - so I paid some extra money, I have to rely on other people whom I have to meet in London (otherwise I won't get the ticket) etc. Pretty complicated for me. After two months, the concert is still not sold out. The whole lottery system is suddenly abandoned and QOL sends out an email with a link, via which everyone can purchase tickets. The link works about half an hour, then ticketweb changes it. QOL publishes the new link on their main page (at the moment it doesn't work though). And - people, who bought the tickets in the past (via the complicated QOL & QFC links) are now being asked to forward to ticketweb some old email, otherwise the ticket will lose its validity. As a result, some people (Jeroen) are in deep shit because they're (for various technical reasons) unable to forward the original mail. Now don't tell me this was a fair system. It's a HUGE SHAME how all this ended (although I guess it hasn't ended yet :-) and the original idea of a "concert for the fans" was literally raped and killed. Fuck the lottery, fuck QOL, fuck Ticketweb. IF I manage to get to the Brixton gig, it will be definitely a big miracle. |
RMT-Nick 11.03.2005 09:43 |
Angry words Martin, but I can't disagree with anything you say- it's all true. When my sister- who didn't win the Lottery- told me about the new way of selling the tickets, I couldn't believe it. I thought the whole purpose was to (a) let the big Queen fans have a fair chance of going to a relatively intimate gig- especially as its effectively the first show on Tour - and (b) stop touts from getting their hands on these tickets and making huge profits. Its one big mess; the fact that the system has been unreliable and ridiculous, and now the allowance of anyone to get tickets makes me laugh, and also feel sorry for people like Mr. Scully. |
Jjeroen 11.03.2005 10:24 |
A follow-up to Martin's story -which is correct-, from my own experience. I ordered tickets in Januari. Got a confiramtion, creditcard got charged and everything. Booked a trip. Indeed I got a mail from Ticketnet asking to forward them back the first e-mail from januari about ordering Brixton tickets. I have it in my web-mail account that does not support forwarding image-attachements. So I technically CAN't. I asked them, but nothing else I can do. This morning, I was one of those hearing early about the general sale. I sat at my computer (at work even!) clicking a dead link for over an hour. After much stress I then find the new link and guess what: I'm in time and I am able to order again two standing tickets for the show. What a relief! But while I'm waiting for my purchase-confirmation, after completing the whole order, I get the following message: I am not able to buy any more tickets for Brixton because "I already used my creditcard to buy the maximum amount of tickets for this event!" No response from Ticketmaster ever since... |
Benn 11.03.2005 10:33 |
It's just amazing that they have managed to fuck this whole thing up. A concept that is so very simple has turned into a complete disaster and ended up alienating a vast number of truly dedicated fans. Frankly, both the fan club and those connected with QOL should feel mighyily embarassed about the whole affair and, I would hope, Queen & Paul Rodgers display thair gratitude to people that have hung out for the show in some way....... This show had better be fucking good. |
stringy 11.03.2005 10:38 |
How the hell can they do that to you Jeroen? I don't understand why it has come to this and its sure no way to treat a customer. If you're really stuck I may have a spare ticket for Brixton if my brother doesn't want to come with me. |
Mr. Scully 11.03.2005 11:08 |
Jeroen, please consider the offer in my email - it could be acceptable and useful for both of us. [edit] Made a link to this topic on my front page... with ~1000 visitors on my site every day I hope QOL will get a nice promotion :-) Or whoever is responsible for this mess... |
eggy 11.03.2005 11:25 |
0870 771 2000 is ticketweb's number, I know its a cross country call for you, but I'm that they would sort it out over the phone. Have the reference number you would have originally been given when you got the tickets from ticketweb ready and they are pretty good. |
Daz85 11.03.2005 12:12 |
I agree this is a bit of a mess. I recieved an e-mail saying I've one the Brixton lottery last Saturday and booked tickets the next day - hopefully everything will be okay. It seems to me QOL are trying to at least keep fans updated on whatever issues Ticketweb are having, but c'mon... it's not like they want to cause trouble, and a lot of fans have booked MANY shows to attend - at the worst you're gonna miss out on the warm up gig right? And Mr. Scully - I don't mean to sound bad of you, but it wasn't so long ago that you and a few others said that you would never attempt to see 'Queen' again after the 46664-Latino concert was concelled... hmmm? |
wstüssyb 11.03.2005 12:50 |
From what I hear, the only ppl getting the good stuff are personal friends of Jacky, or the ass kissers on QOL. starting to see what good is this tour when it is not really for the fans who wanted it. |
DrumBrother 11.03.2005 14:26 |
I've booked and recieved tickets for Birmingham and Cardiff, I've just booked tickets for Dublin. I am a lottery winner since January but haven't got the tickets yet. Has anyone got tickets for Brixton, as I'm travelling from Cork in Ireland I'm starting to get worried. |
Penetration_Guru 11.03.2005 16:35 |
Where is the announcement that all previous sales have to be re-confirmed? I need to see it before I go to trading standards, and for that matter Customs & Excise, cos if Ticketubergruppenfuhrer don't have records of who has bought what then the chances of them submitting accurate VAT statements are zero. I reckon we could actually get them closed down for this, and based on what's on this thread, I'm willing to give it a go... |

I bought my ticket in february have still access to my "Status" that you can see thru a weblink they sent you after the purchase - so far it just hasn't arrived?!?! Where did you get the news that you have to re confirm?? I already paid and the money is gone so everything seems ok so far?!?!?!?!?! I hope I have a bill and have paid - so what??!! |

"It's a machines world Don't tell me I ain't got no soul When the machines take over It ain't no place for rock and roll" I'd like back to old classic way to buy tickets, I'd like back to old good CDs than download tracks from iTunes... Most of people in Eastern Europe doesn't use credit cards so since this lotteries (Queen, World Cup 2006 etc.) started we all know here - these things are not for us. Well... Send link to this topic to Brian. I feel very sorry for Martin and Jeroen and hope they'd get tickets or money back! Something that seems to be forgotten in these lists of fuck-ups is that there are people like SkyBaby on QOL who rejoined the fan club (after several years) only after the tour was announced, and still managed to win in the first round of the lottery... I wonder how many extra members Jacky added to the list of participants. :/ |
pirrakitas 11.03.2005 19:08 |
What is the story? I have just booked one standing ticket and everything went fine. I have a reference number and an email saying that they will send me the ticket by registered post. I have not won any lottery, I just followed the QOL link that was posted a few hours agat. What is the situation, should I wait to see the credit card charge to book the plane tickets? |
runner70 12.03.2005 02:22 |
my credit cards been charged so i still have my nerves after all and hope to receive the tix in time - have booked flight and hotel - if sth goes wrong i will sue these w*****!!! |
YourValentine 12.03.2005 03:52 |
Other oddities of this lottery: While some American fans from the Breakthru list received emails, many English members received snail mail. In some cases the letters arrived too late and the winning FC members could not buy the tickets although they won. Nobody was in charge to help them to get the tickets. In the "We are desperate-please buy our tickets" email from yesterday QOL says more tickets are available now. Apparently the VIPs and EMI people don't care enough for the gig, so now the fans are good enough to fill the gap. Rather than play in a half empty hall they take the money from the fans now. Really poor show after two months of dragging along with that totally useless lottery. All in all it's fair to say that an initially good idea was ruined by a lot of incompetence and many mistakes and apparently because the "powers to be" were not sure in the first place who the fans are. While some think members of the official website are good-enough fans, others think a "true" fan should be a fan club member. It's quite weird that Austrian, French, Czech, Hungarian and other fans did not get any privileged tickets in their own country while fans from over the world got 6 tickets for each of the English gigs because they are in the fan club in a presale leaving thousands of other English fans without any ticket. I just hope that the fans who paid weeks ago will get their tickets without further harrassment and that we all can put this behind us and enjoy the show. |
Mr. Scully 12.03.2005 04:53 |
runner70 - maybe it's just Jeroen who had bad luck, maybe other people who ordered the tickets successfully, don't have such a problem. If you haven't received any email, don't be worried. Darren - yes, I know I'm a coward, I swore I would never go to see Queen again but... I couldn't resist :-( However, if the tour had been happening last year, I would have travelled to many more gigs than just 7. pirrakitas - I think you are among the luckiest people because you bought the ticket without any problem, without having to worry about some lottery etc. I should have done the same as you, if I wasn't so impatient... :) |
Mcm 12.03.2005 11:29 |
Haven't you got a Brixton ticket yet Scully? QOL have a thread that takes you to a page where they are STILL available. I can't quite beleive this myself but i managed to get two yesterday. Good luck... |
Mcm 12.03.2005 11:30 |
Sorry, Ignore my last post - you do have a ticket. |
deleted user 12.03.2005 12:43 |
I find it rather odd that some people are complaining about not getting to see this show, when, in fact, they are seeing numerous shows. Some people don't get to see any shows at all, which makes it quite difficult to read all these complaints. (Please understand that I can see the frustrations posted above, but when you stop to consider it, shouldn't you be happy that you are seeing them at all? I am really not too down that I most likely will not see them live, but I am sure there are plenty of other people who are probably incredibly disappointed. I also recognize that many posters in this topic have already seen Queen live more than once prior to these concerts, so this also adds on to my questioning people's complaining). |
Rien 12.03.2005 13:23 |
The complaining is more about the organisation of releasing the tickets. All has been said in the posts above. This lottery went on for months and now at last they're offering the last batch of tickets. (If they came from other people than fans, let's not complain because we all thought this was to be a FAN concert) But to get an email this late saying "you're the last person I'm talking to" - so buy these tickets... it's just pretty late to organize things, not in the least when - while thinking you had no chance for Brixton - one has bought tickets for the other shows. Someone suggested: they had to inform WHO was interested in the first place. And then draw names out of those. |
deleted user 12.03.2005 13:36 |
I can see the frustrations with the organization. It's quite clear that things aren't be done the way they should be. |
Penetration_Guru 12.03.2005 16:22 |

DrumBrother 12.03.2005 17:49 |
Has anyone recieved their tickets for Brixton, I haven't and I'm getting worried. Flights and accomodation booked. |
Rien 12.03.2005 18:03 |
Just look at the post above yours. :-) |
Mr. Scully 13.03.2005 06:52 |
Miss James - my main frustration is not about getting/not getting to see the concert. It's mainly about the organization PLUS it's personal as I've managed to get a ticket (via a very complicated way) weeks ago and now I'm not quite sure that everything will go smoothly when I arrive to Brixton. If it wasn't the first concert of the tour, I would simply sell the ticket and wouldn't care about it at all. I fully understand that these "worries" must look stupid from the point of view of Americans who won't see Queen until autumn (in best case). |

But I think it was less than gracious of you to point out we Americans won't see "Queen+PR" until Autumn (in best case). Is it fair punishment for being American? Is the rest of the world better bc they get to see Queen+PR before us? Does it matter who the "line leader is?" bleh. |

Mr. Scully 13.03.2005 13:22 |
C'mon, Lisser! :-) I'm sure you will get to see Queen, sooner or later. After all, there were 200 Queen concerts in USA in history... and none in my country. Now is THAT fair? ;-) |
wstüssyb 13.03.2005 13:29 |
IMO brixton might be the worst show of the tour, 1st show of them toghther, they will be more nervous, more fucks up's maybe, and you know how Brian is when he is nervous =-) I would rather see Koln or that open air in woodenshoe land. |
Rien 13.03.2005 14:06 |
Let's make one thing very clear here! On Sunday's we don't wear wooden shoes, only on weekdays. (Saturday's we're in the tub) :-) |

I just got a reply from ticketweb, saying that my tickets had been dispatched(not saying what date they dispatched then)Then it went on to say that royal mail sometimes take a long time and if i didnt here within 72 hours of the show to phone them and they would get it sorted with the box office at brixton at show time/.At least they responded but what a fuck up...And i was totally pissed by the e-mail offering me more tickets..Havent recieved(if i even do) my original tickets.. |
Rogersbelly 13.03.2005 15:32 |
How come - if we're bitching about tours and tickets - how come Tix for the tour are £55 and this is for half of one band, some guy from another band and two session musicians, there'll be a few lights I guess and a - shite (if Brian picks em) support act? How come Brian says it's the best price they could do it all for when Alice Cooper and a full stage show AND Twisted Sister PLUS a third support act is playing an arena tour for £30 a ticket? |

Lisser, Lisser...you're not gonna get anywhere being gullible to men's looks. Get with it, woman. ;^) Like I said, Mr. Scully, I can easily understand your frustrations, but I also stand by my original point. Having said that, I do hope you get to see the show without anymore troubles. As for not (possibly) getting to see Queen until Autumn: like I care, I'm seeing Elton John and the Killers in a month. ;^) |
Lisser 13.03.2005 17:22 |

Richard Lopata (new email) 13.03.2005 17:23 |
I haven't read the whole thread, but I can tell you this; I forwarded the mail to my email at work, opened the attacment, copy-pasted it into a new email, i was on the phone with those guys for 13 minutes (10 minutes on hold) ... and finally ... they got what they asked for they really got me in worries ... why are they asking for that email after all that time and after billing the tickets? |

I would consider insulting...not funny! ABsolutely outrageous considering so many Fans when through utter Hell to try to secure the "Lottery" tickets. Today seems a sad day to be a longterm "supporter" of Queen. |
