We Are The Champions 26.01.2005 05:29 |
Brian has mentioned that there'll be surprises on this tour. I think he's referring to some of the songs and not the line-up...that's more or less sorted except for the bass player. Here's my choice of "surprises" More likely to be lesser known tracks IMHO. Sleeping On The Sidewalk I'm Here (Rodgers song from Muddy Waters' Blues -Brian plays guitar on this track and has the same feel as Sidewalk - blusey number) '39 (Brian Vocal) - give Paul a rest Feel Like Makin' Love (as last part of acoustic set) Invincible Hope - (Roger vocal latest Queen related song) Rock'n'Roll (Roger vocal) Fire & Water (Paul Rodgers. Thread on QOL has said that Brian & Roger did a soundcheck with this one before a WWRY after show party) Tenement Funster/I'm In Love With My Car Sail Away Sweet Sister Lucille Hammer To Fall (Slow then Fast) What do you guys think? |
Mr. Scully 26.01.2005 08:09 |
Sleeping On The Sidewalk or Hammer To Fall slow/fast are hardly a surprise, they have been played plenty of times in the past years :-) '39 would be a nice surprise for me. |
Fenderek 26.01.2005 08:24 |
Feel Like Makin' Love they'll play definitely. Rock'n'roll would be graet! I'm almost expecting at least one Hendrix number... AND- how about We Will Rock You done like in Rock'n'rll Hall Of Fame? |
GregM 26.01.2005 08:30 |
You know, I'd LOVE to hear Roger sing "Drowse"...Don't even know if he ever sang this live, even back in the early days, but it'd be great. |

Mr. Scully wrote: Sleeping On The Sidewalk or Hammer To Fall slow/fast are hardly a surprise, they have been played plenty of times in the past years :-) '39 would be a nice surprise for me.'39 has been played in the past as well and Hammer To Fall slow/fast at Amsterdam 2002 and Brian's solo tours. Reckon most people are expecting Hammer To Fall to be like Wembley'86 and not in two parts.....so it may come as a surprise to some people. Can't recall Sleeping On The Sidewalk being played many times.....only at WWRY parties. Must have been at pre '79 Queen gigs. |

We Will Rock You was brilliant in Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame and will definitely be played as an encore with WATC and Allright Now.....not really a surprise but a certainty!! |

Mr. Scully 26.01.2005 09:34 |
As for '39, I meant the full version which hasn't been done for a VERY VERY long time. As for Sleeping On The Sidewalk, it was played very often at the WWRY afterparties so I assume it will be in the setlist for sure. Maybe the same counts for Don't Stop Me Now. "AND- how about We Will Rock You done like in Rock'n'rll Hall Of Fame?" If you mean the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame (2003), then it'd be great. The R'n'r' Hall Of Fame version (2001) was almost normal. |
Jjeroen 26.01.2005 15:55 |
Funny! All songs mentioned in all the posts where actually on my 'wish list' at the Paul Rodgers website! ;-))) But please, may I add what I hope for. The one song that immediately entered my mind as THE ultimate song for Paul Rodgers to sing: My Melancholy Blues!!! And let's not forget The Prophet's Song! (Could actually work, I think) |
RohemianBapsody 26.01.2005 17:54 |
Prophets Song would be brilliant - especially if they get the sound right for the choral part. |
Hitman 26.01.2005 18:43 |
we will rock you from songwriter is amazing...it could be a great idea.... i'd love to add that a nice detail i will discover seing the concert is the finale of we are the champions....long "F" power chord or the chromatic one like the musical version? humm...plenty of alternatives...lately this song has seen many restylings ;) |
Daniel Nester 26.01.2005 18:45 |
Rodgers did a great version of Hendrix's I Don't Live Today, with Slash and a couple other guitarists. Love ot hear them do that. |
Fenderek 27.01.2005 04:52 |

What surprise guests would you like? |
Little_Queenie 27.01.2005 08:33 |
John Deacon:) |
The Mir@cle 27.01.2005 08:38 |
Well, John is not really a guest, but it would be a surprise. |
Lady Cool Cat 27.01.2005 13:52 |
Something maybe to remind us of Freddie would be very nice. And also Another One Bites The Dust, to remind us of Deaky. And Dreamer's Ball! I love Dreamer's Ball! If they would play it, TALK about surprise!!! And, As someone said before, Drowse, and WWRY fast and then normal (with the crowd stomping and clapping as well) and umm.. Definetly NOT God Save The Queen, 'cuz it was Queen's ''Registered TradeMark´´ if you know aht I mean! |
Jjeroen 27.01.2005 15:55 |
Not GSTQ? What about Brian playing the national anthem of the country they are performing in every night?? ;-) |
JDL2nd 27.01.2005 16:45 |
I hope they play Sleeping on the sidewalk with Brian on vocals. It's such a great song !!! I also hope they play I'm in love with my car with Roger on vocals. But I have my doubts if Roger will even sing. I saw a performance of them with Paul Rodgers en Roger had no microphone. Has anyone else noticed this ??? |

Roger's Beard 27.01.2005 18:21 |
Hopefully they'll have Freddie's piano on stage and Brian will play to a recording of Freddie singing "love of my life". |
nasty_queenie 28.01.2005 02:25 |
Ok ok I know that John isn't going to be there but i reckon the coolest thing would be if they played a few songs without John so that everyone thought that John wasn't going to be there. Then after the third song or something, John walks on playing the bassline of ABTD. I can just imagine that moment and i think it would be awesome the audience would just go crazy. |
Mr. Scully 28.01.2005 03:30 |
"What about Brian playing the national anthem of the country they are performing in every night?? ;-)" Now seriously, that's a great idea! Two years ago Deep Purple played in Prague and Don Airey played in his keyboard solo a very well famous piece of Czech classical music. The whole audience (15000+ people) simply errupted and the guys from DP were absolutely amazed by the reaction. |
Jjeroen 28.01.2005 03:38 |
Thanks Scully, I know Brian likes the idea too! ;-) |
Dubrock Orwell 28.01.2005 04:33 |
How about some new songs by Queen and Rogers, that would be a surprise! |
Borhap80 28.01.2005 05:22 |
I agree :) new song(s) by Queen & Paul Rodgers would have been awesome!!! |
Jjeroen 28.01.2005 05:36 |
Well, I do expect them to play Invincible Hope for instance. But I don't think we'll get them any newer than that. Bit too early, everything has been going so fast and they must be realy realy busy with the business side and of course rehearsing that I realy think new songs are something that won't be a reality before (if ever) they had a good rest from the tour... |
Gezelle 28.01.2005 07:19 |

Have to agree Sir GH .. that would be SHIT, but I still wouldn't walk out. |

Sir GH

ah yeah
wrote:I wouldn't walk.....not for £50 but agree this would be total disaster and total shit! Freddie's appearances should be kept to a minimum otherwise it will end up like a ******* Elvis concert.....band playing back up to video images of Elvis singing. BlueRock 28.01.2005 16:33 |
Just thinking here that there could be some suprises from 70's. Songs like "Ogre Battle" , "Stone Cold Crazy" , "Killer Queen" etc. are all welcomed. And of course one of my favourites "Spread Your Wings". Also "Innuendo" is played only once by Queen ( FMT) even it's a really great song. Still wondering why it's not on FMT DVD? |
pirrakitas 28.01.2005 17:45 |
Innuendo was totally ruined by Robert Plant, so I suppose he (Robert) did not give permission to include it. |
[ Wybren™ ] 29.01.2005 06:48 |
Surprises (never or rarely played): -Breakthrue -Headlong -Invisible Man -Ride The Wild Wind -Let Me Live (Paul/Brian/Roger) -Innuendo -Bijou Some songs that will be in the setlist (I think): -Hammer to fall -Tie your mother down -Alright now -NOBY -WATC -WWRY (slow) -The Show Must Go On -AOBTD? -IWTBF? -BoRhap? |
RohemianBapsody 30.01.2005 19:08 |
The excuse with the Robert Plant rendition was that the mics were not working. Well something wasn't because he might just have well been singing to the deaf. |
The Stealer 30.01.2005 22:34 |

FairyKing 31.01.2005 23:30 |
SOME of the songs i'd like to hear (and probably they'll never play). I'm wrinting only NON singles... - My fairy king - march of the black queen - white queen - flick of the wrists - brighton rock - seaside rendezvous (oh yeah!) - prophet's song - long away - leaving home ain't easy - sail away sweet sister - it's late - sleeping on the sidewalk - dragon attack - dead on time - tear it up - gimme the prize - hitman - i can't live with you - dreamers' ball and about 140 others... |
