I have the CD named "In The Beginning".
Its tracklist of Smile is as follows;
Smile 1969-1970
-Earth
-Step On Me
-April Lady
-Polar Bear
-Blag
-Doing All Right
Besides, from Queen numbers, "Polar Bear" and "Silver Salmon", some demos and some alternates are included. "Mad The Swine" and long lost retake version of "Keep Yourself Alive" can be heard. And "I Can Hear Music" and "Going Back" of Larry Lurex are on the same disc.
Its quality is not bad. I sometimes enjoy it.
I think there's no such bootlegs nor recordings, though I ain't sure.
And I don't think bootlegers would release it - it wouldn't have much of commercial success.
I Think that if there were any genuine boots out there then they would've hit the public domain by now
even the wreckage stuff got released on the box set and that's p***=poor sound quality
and ibex is around too
so if smile did exist - it would be about
The footage I saw was just good old fashioned grainy black and white
It was on a documentary a few years ago
Can't remember which one but I have it on vid somewhere.
I was just wondering if any live audio shows exist because I know there are hundreds of Pink Floyd and Yes shows out there and Smile opened for these groups a couple of times. I thougth maybe one of the recorders captured Smile, as well.
"Wreckage was formed in the same year as Ibex. They also made a song called green, which is on the freddie mercury box."
Ibex and Wreckage are the same band, only with a name change

It was silent footage, unfortunatelly... In the documentary they just put studio version of April Lady on top... I guess you're talking about CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD (aka whatever the TV version was called)... But it may as well be on Magic Years- don't remember...
Freddie joined "Ibex" from late summer (Aug.) 1969. After doing some gigs, he suggested "Wreckage" instead of "Ibex" to the other members. They did some more gigs as "Wreckage" during 1969.
