Unfortunately an amusing synopsis of GB's Q&A forum was just censored and deleted. |
Saint Jiub 19.10.2004 23:52 |
The deleted post quoted various dubious GB answers: One uninformative rant (the poster's favorite) responded to a question about including the albums in the box set. Of course he went off on a tirade and provided no useful information. Does anyone know why QOL deleted the post? It was very entertaining. |

Highlights include: Q : how long was freddie in India A : 5' 9" - the same as in the UK Q : does FM sing da very first verse of Who wants 2 live 4eva, or was it Bri? A : FM… unless it's the 1998 Japanese karaoke CD you're listening to. Q : have you got any event coming up? A : Yes, a new carpet in my hall way, next Wednesday. And hair cut tomorrow. - Chaps Queen are NOT answering these questions - I am ask be ABOUT Queen. Q : what freddey played? A : Scrabble, quite often Q : what is freddie mercury's favourite female name? A : I think it might have been COLIN Q : There are radically alternate takes of certain songs. Can you give any details A : Yes. No. Q : Are the boxsets going to contain the original albums as well? A : no no no no no no no no no no NO And here's my personal favourite Q : MANY people have asked this question, so I'm addressing it once and for all, and in DETAIL. Q: Are the Queen Anthology sets going to include the standard album recordings YET AGAIN? Remastered, tampered with, with bonus tracks, etc. etc. There are large lists out there now which outline which tracks will appear, bonus tracks, the title of each box, and so on. A : I'm really baffled and irritated bythis rumour and that so many people are so willing to think it has substance to it. It is nonsense. It is rubbish. I hope this site will help put a stop to these kinds of rumours and the rumour-mongers. It's as if certain individuals have nothing else to do but sit and dream up any old rumour they think of, let it go on the net, and watch it gather momentum. These people really irritate me. You guys have this site now, don't don't give these people the time of day or the satisfaction of thinkng that you are gullible enough to believe anything they say - including the crazy things which have no foundation. There are NO such plans to feature the albums AGAIN. There never WAS. NEVER EVER. I have said this numerous times at the conventions. Please spread the word to anyone out there that remains under the completely wrong impression about the Queen Anthologies. Please tell all those people that the MADE UP lists circulating currently are TOTALLY wrong and are purely from the imaginations of people that like to wind other fans up. The lists I've seen (one via an email from Jacky) was so VERY far from accurate, it was laughable. It is, clearly, just a list someone has plucked out of the air. All that stuff about each LP “PLUS 3 BONUS TRACKS” etc, is pure uninformed fiction. We have NO plans to re-issue the standard albums. We are only, at this moment, proposing to release out-takes, alternate versions, rare B-sides, edits, instru, etc. Just like the Freddie box out-takes - similar to that type of approach. There are NO definite plans at the moment. We do not know exactly what will feature and what form it will take. If WE do not know, then the Rumour Circulators certainly CANNOT know. Obviously. Until we get into the project properly, NO ONE on this planet knows what tracks will feature, how many CDs, when it will appear, what ‘bonus’ things, if any, might be included, etc. So, all this speculation now is both ridiculous and unhelpful. It only serves to irritate fans, mislead them, and give them inaccurate data. Please do not be part of this circle of people that continually perpetuate useless rumours and misinformation. Only when we get there, will such data be available. Until then, all this stuff is pure conjecture and GUESS WORK. Regards GB Did you mean that? I was still able to read it. |

Oops - nothing was deleted in the GB topic at QOL. It's Late and I got lost in QOL's spam about popcorn and forgot about page two. Curse you Lester - I was too late to edit my posts. Oh Well. |

Somehow the 1998 Japanese Karaoke version of Who Wants To Live Forever ended up on my AKOM album. I wonder how this could happen... |
AC 20.10.2004 05:35 |
Oh my god! YourValentine! You have a special ultra-rare version of the AKOM album! I want it! I'll give you 100 euro for that, ok? |

I actually find many of his answers to the Q&As funny, and his response to the content of the boxsets is fairly reasonable really. It must be fustrating if people make stuff up like that. But all that is quite different from the past few day's posting by GB here on QZ. Very different attitude it seems to me. |

I actually feel very sad about the whole affair. Infact, it has left me feeling very dirty (if not upset). I know that it should not, but I feel that if I was in Greg's position - I would celebrate - and contrary to popular belief, I am a very "giving" person. I would share what I knew (Why the mafioso type secrecy - and the "dirty" political campaigns?). After all, Freddie was correct - "it is only a bloody record" - not some state or industrial secrets, so why all the bully-boy and strong arm tactics? I know Greg is NOT "Queen", but it still chips away at my "reverence" of the band, and the whole "speciality" thing. Now I have all but lost my faith in "Queen", "Queen Productions" and their "political party line". I know I rant, but thank God Freddie died with some vestitude of dignity intact, as for me, he was always above such shenanigans. Greg has posted 13 very deliberate and negative posts - but when faced with direct positive questions (Eg: Greg - please visit the "Back Chat" thread. Can you give some constructive reply please?) he disappeared like the proverbial "snow off a dyke". I know it is melodramatic - but when a bit of "Queen" dies - I find it sad, and I can say a bit of me "dies" too. Give me a few days, but I see no humour or light in these posts. Just a very bruising and sad, sad affair. |
YourValentine 20.10.2004 10:08 |
Greg Brooks is not Queen or QP, John. He is just a guy who archives Queen tapes. You cannot expect that everybody who works for Queen is per se a good person, has dignity or any respect for his job, the band or the fans. Quite obviously, Greg Brooks doees not have much of any of it although it's probably not fair to judge him on these 13 posts here. Some people don't handle the semi celebrity status that such a job gives them very well, mainly because the status is not the result of their own achievement but only the shadow of the real stardom of their employers. This leads to arrogant behaviour mixed with insecurity. Again, I am not judging Greg Brooks by his 13 posts here or my brief encounter with him in Vlaardingen last Saturday. This is more a general observation. All I am saying is - we should not blow this whole Greg Brooks incidence out of proportions. |

I can't speak for anyone else but there are a number of things I have learned over the last couple of days. First and foremost, I am completely disgusted by Queen Productions. And by that I mean everyone from Jim Beach, Brian & Roger and the folks at EMI, right down to Jacky at the fan club (I know she's not employed by QP but she does carry the official seal of approval) and Greg Brooks. It's time to stop thinking of ourselves as fans and think of ourselves as loyal customers instead. We hand over our hard earned cash in exchange for a product or service. If that product or service is sub-standard we have every right to complain. Greg Brooks on the other hand think of fans as nothing more than mindless sheep who are duty bound to cough up for any old shite and call it chocolate. Not only is he unwilling to address the complaints, he resorts to insulting the customer. If Jim Beach has any sense he will send him on a customer care course before he alienates anyone else. Secondly I am heartfelt proud to be part of Queenzone and consider myself lucky to call some of the folks on here friends. The way so may Zoners leapt to the defense of Barbera and John S Stuart warmed the cockles of my heart. We may be a small community, we might even be common but if you fuck with one you fuck with all and to borrow a phrase from Flashy, that's just not cricket. Well that's enough serios shite from me. I'm going back to writing bollocks again, it's a lot safer. fatty. |

YV, your reaction is admirable. "You cannot expect that everybody who works for Queen is per se a good person, has dignity or any respect for his job, the band or the fans." No, you obviously cannot expect that. But if someone who worked for my company had a public appearance like Brooks had on this board (in black and white for everyone to re-read!), which is full of loyal fans/customers, I would definitely consider to dismiss him. Especially since there are many people who could easily replace him. And I'd try to somehow "repair" what this guy destroyed, at least to apologise. On the other hand, Brooks is probably right, for QP' commercial interests it really doesn't matter what a few people on QZ think about their archivist, even if those few people are right. |
crowley 20.10.2004 15:11 |
You MUST understand - people from Queen Productions don't want to save the world - cash, baby - it's all they need. Maybe not Brian and Roger, but all others (Jim, Greg, Jacky etc.) - it's all about it. The times pf Queen playing for pure pleasure have gone somewhere between Freddie's death and re - recording WWRY with Britney :( |
frank39 21.10.2004 02:53 |
Hank.H you are defenitively right. Every company would fire a person, who attacks those people, who bought and will buy the company´s products. And it doesn´t matter how many people GB insulted, in Marketing terms he insulted Opinion Leaders and Early Adopters, the most important target group. These people (and especially Barbara) keep Queen alive. I wonder what Brian would say to all this.... |
rendezvous 21.10.2004 03:48 |
Sadly, I don't think Brian will know about it:( |
