I really like the song "Take Your Mama." I'm thinking of buying the whole album. I've listened to a few clips of songs on iTunes and they are really good! They're very glam rock...
It seems to be a trend of rip-off artists coming up lately...
First The Darkness rip-off Queen.
now
Scissor Ssister rip-off Elton John.
WHERE HAS ORIGINALITY GONE FOR GOD'S SAKE!?
'Take your Mama' reminds me of Elton's 'Island Girl' a lot.
Although I'd rate the Scissor Sisters slightly above the usual chart fare, I will never, ever, ever, EVER forgive them for their abysmal version of 'Comfortably Numb'. (And don't give me any of that 'Ironic' crap as an excuse).
How are Scissor Sisters like Elton John? They sound nothing like him. They sing high, he doesnt. His songs are mainly piano, there's aren't. Elton has got a really low voice.

That's the exact same comment people make to defend The Darkness to say that they sound nothing like Queen.
Take Your Mama Out, rather somewhat reminded me of 'Rock Of The Westies' & 'Blue Moves' (the funkier) era EJ. Very 'imitator' like vocals reminiscent Reg himself. Scissor Sisters opened for EJ this summer I recall on his UK dates.
Haven't heard more than 2 songs from them though. 'Laura' wasn't really impressive to me.
Nice 'valid' arguments there Blackadder, you're the expert.
Do I detect a hint of sarcasm in that post, pma?
If you guys are going to say nothing's original nowadays then tell me, What is original? Arent every rock artist who came out after The Beatles copying them? So some people think Scissors sound like Elton John. I still think they're good.
I listened to their version of 'Comfortably Numb' on iTunes a few seconds ago.
Boy, am I glad I was going deaf before - otherwise, this would have been a perfect reason to rip off my ears.
I'm thinking of getting that album. The insane cover of Comfortably Numb aside, the rest sounds great, at least from the thirty second clips from iTunes.
It took my almost two months to listen to the whole album, because at first I only listened to "Take Your Mama" and "Laura." The other songs are also good though. Especially "Return to Oz" :)
