John Deacon has taken a good deciscion by not taking part in the bullshit Brian and roger are doing at the moment (we will rock you with five///beyonce,britney,pink) That SHITTY musical of them and of course all re-re-remixes of old queen songs. I think they should be more careful to the legacy of queen. John is my hero for quitting. |

You have to remember though, What YOU think is best for Queen may not be what QUEEN think is best for Queen. |

I agree with the topic title but not for the reason given by the person who started the topic. I will reiterate once again what I have stated so many times before. You or I or any fan may not like what Brian May and Roger Taylor are doing at the moment under the "precious" name of Queen but like any other "business" and I say business because that is what Queen is like it or not! Any band in the music industry is a business venture ppl! Get over your pureist ideas! It's all about the music, GET A LIFE! Queen back in the beginnings and most certainly NOW are a business. John Deacon is out of the picture but not out of the "business" WAKE THE FU*K UP WILL YOU! You pureists make me sick! GROW UP FINALLY WILL YOU! Kriz :oO |

I actually really liked the musical . . . |
joeyjojo 10.09.2004 22:03 |
Well, at this point, Brian and Roger *are* queen. |
Daburcor? 11.09.2004 02:11 |
Isn't what PAYS best what IS best for Queen? I mean, This is how they make a living. |
Flashman 11.09.2004 06:18 |
While I agree that old Easy does indeed deserve respect, I also accept the view that the music should continue to be promoted, especially to a generation that isn't perhaps aware of it, rather than filed and forgotten. Bands like Led Zep are respected for their non-commercialism, but I could only name you one of their songs, and I couldn't even hum you that. Respect will only get you so far, you've got to wing the rest. |

John should take a part in that! Was John btw involved in the remix for AOBTD? |
twowaymirrormountain 11.09.2004 08:04 |
Here is why I think John Deacon deserves respect. He was a member of a good band that had no lineup changes for their entire recorded career. This is a hard thing to do. This indicates that he like the rest of the band must have been incredibly patient and diplomatic. Also, even though he was not the primary songwriter, he wrote some good songs including one of their biggest hits. Finally, while he is not a flashy player like Geddy Lee or Billy Sheehan, his bass playing is solid and creative. |

I respect all of them and their decisions. If you don't like the remix's or whatever, don't listen to them. If you don't like the musical, don't watch it. (I personally like the musical- I thought it was great.) But I think they all desever some respect. |
radio_what's_new 12.09.2004 04:54 |
Apparantly you guys like that shitty musical more than a good solo album or a queen box. I think the only reason I am a queen fan is because of the past not of what Queen is representing right now. Brian, Roger and John also deserve respect for the past, but the "cash is king" approach from Roger and Brian dosn't deserve respect. There was a time that Brian said: "We don't wanne write hits, we just wanne make good music" Unfortunately nowadays his priorities changed. |
Daburcor? 12.09.2004 06:31 |
What? They're writing hits now? |
radio_what's_new 12.09.2004 10:30 |
Are You stupid??? Can't you read or don't you understand english, dumb fuck |
Brimon 12.09.2004 13:31 |
Hold on, are you trying to say that everything Queen did up untill Freddies death, was for the love of the music and not for the cash. Then I would have to disagree with you. Yeah sure they wanted to make the best music they possibly could but they also wanted to make shed loads of money, and its no different now. The solo albums and tours will surely come but you have to be patient. They always did things their way and when they wanted to do it and its no different now. |
radio_what's_new 12.09.2004 18:14 |
No shithead you still don't understand it nowadays Brian is only after commercial succes (hits like the musical) you are really dumb |
Bob The Shrek 12.09.2004 19:18 |
That 'shitty' musical provides a sustained income over a period of time that a solo album wouldn't. Do you know how much shampoo and clogs cost in the UK? |
MetzgerR 12.09.2004 20:36 |
I'm still trying to get used the idea that clogs aren't strictly a woman's accessory... Ja ne! |

And as far as my grasp on the English language goes, How on EARTH could I be typing this reply to you (or any of my other posts for that matter) if I couldn't read? How about YOU take some more time to learn the language? Seeing as you can't spell for shit. |

radio_what's_new wrote: No shithead you still don't understand it nowadays Brian is only after commercial succes (hits like the musical) you are really dumbFor starters, you're degrading yourself by being so abusive. Are you incapable of restating your point of view without resorting to obscenities? Secondly, I don't see your point that Brian doing all this for the money. Sure, he wants to be rewarded financially for the hard work he put in from the start of the band in writing/recording all the material and in making the musical work. But if it was just the money he was interested in, he'd not be working so hard on all the other versions of the musical around the world. He'd leave it up to someone else and just wait for the cheque. He's emotionally involved and wants it to be the best entertainment it can be. This is what I think drives him. Now you may think that it's not worth his effort, and you're entitled to that opinion. I like the musical, and think it is worth his and Roger's efforts. But, I think that the time HAS come to leave it up to others to take it further around the world, and for Brian and Roger to concentrate on "new" stuff, be it solo, collaborative or boxed set. Don't think it'll happen any time soon, though, for the reasons I stated above (I think Roger could leave the musical to others, but Brian can't - isn't inclined to I mean). |

Freddie wasn't the whole band. There were three other members, All of which are still quite alive. All of which were part of 'Queen'. |

Personally I don't know what do think of John Deacon...He can't really seem to make up his mind on weather he's retired or not...In all honesty, John is an extremely talented man...he can play god knows how many instruments proficiently, he wrote Queen's highest charting single in the US. As the saying goes "You can do more damage in the system then you can out of it" He apparently retired in 1992 after the FM Tribute...but he came back to finish Made in Heaven, and he came back to record "No One But You (Only the Good Die Young)" and he proformed live as Queen with Brian and Roger upon the request and monetary coercion of their frontman for the song...Captain Fantastic himself, Elton John. Then he dissapeared...and occasionally we hear him commenting on how its horrible what they're doing to Freddie's song...Well I agree with him that version of "Champions" as well as the recent bubble gum chessy renditions of Queen's most recognizable anthems. But he's gotta remember he's the one who left the band...John had just as much right being involved, but he's chosen to step out of it...so why is he complaining? I have the upmost respect for John Deacon...but the real big dissappointment was when he wasn't there when Queen was inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame...WHY???!!! What's wrong with this? John went through all of the hardships that he endured with the Band...and finally be chosen for a true lifetime achievement award and just not show up??? That was a really dumb move John...But hey..obviously we all still love you as the quiet reserved bass player of Queen. |

Actially, why? Of course, he can ignore Brian & Roger projects (and it's right, because it's not Queen and it's never can be Queen). But why he never appeared in public places since 1998? Why even didn't appear in Hall of fame, to "Bohemian Rhapsody tseremony", in Dominion, ets? And why anybody can't oficially explain what the matter? Something is not clear. |
Krizzy 21.09.2004 11:03 |
Hey Hey Mariam and redspecial, John Deacon has had many trials and tribulations in his life plus raising his younger children in the last 7 or so years. He is semi-retired in that he still has an investment in the WWRY shows, please let your criticizism of him go. HE is entitled to do whatever he wishes since he worked very hard for his fame and fortune. It is a choice to be in the public eye not a right and we as fans of Queen must understand that even famous people have a right to their private lives. Kriz ;o( |
Mariam 21.09.2004 11:41 |
And where are his fotos in Dominion theatre? Of course, he can live for his private life. But it's strange. Why he caanot say it openly? Ore sent message to official fun club? I didnt said that it's bad. I said that it's strange. |
redspecial85 22.09.2004 00:44 |
Well...that's a very good point made...I had no intention of knocking John Deacon down or anything...I was simply expressing my opinion...I don't hate John or anything...and being a human being he is most certanly entitled to his privacy and free will... |
