Lastnight I went to see Velvet Revolver and all I can say is that this was quite honestly the best gig I have been to since the tribute concert in 92....and ive been to a LOT of gigs. Everybody was on top form at the Manchester Apollo which I think holds around 3000 people. Scott Weiland was on form in leather trousers, topless, shades and a leather hat (remind you of anybody???) and he completely stunned the audience, superb. And what can be said about Slash??? Amazing. If youre a true GnR fan then its a treat, I was so excited I was shaking, It was, hard, solid rock n roll for nearly 2 hours. Only 2 GnR songs were played....I used to Love Her and Its so Easy, but I think if Axl Rose were to hear the band then he'd be gutted because Velvet Revolver are going to be massive. The Darkness can kiss my arse!
Can you tell me something about their album... You know, I don't have much time to get updated musical news, but I've heard many people saying Velvet Revolver kick ass... If you'd like, I'm interested in knowing something more...
Thanx anyway
:-)

The album Contraband is very refreshing. Axl is stuck trying to make GnR rock, but Slash, Duff and Matt- along with two other band members- are making the music.
The guitars are loud and the songs have attitude (and some strong lyrics).
I'd recommend the album- I bought it after hearing just one track, not disappointed.
I'm sorry, I don't check the boards as often, BMW -- I'm SO incredibly jealous that you got to go as GN'R and VR are my two favorite bands of the moment. I absolutely LOVE Slash and would do very illegal things just to see him in concert (or even meet him). I'm glad you had fun... I think Brian May and Jimmy Page were at the Hammersmith concert. Yeah, VR! :-)
"I absolutely LOVE Slash and would do very illegal things just to see him in concert (or even meet him)."
hmm, I smoke like Slash, I never show my face, I play air guitar better than him, and I would gladly tell you where i'm staying, without doing anything illegal
Comparing Velvet Revolver to The Darkness...
The thing with Velvet Revolver is that the only material Velvet Revolver steals is from their own previous bands (G'n'R & STP), which you can't blame them for that.
While The Darkness keeps stealing material from Queen.
I saw their show in Hammersmith last night, and very entertaining it was too.
Apparently, Brian was in attendence, and sitting somewhere near the back (according to other people in attendance. At one point, Slash teased the crowd with a few bars of TYMD.
"hmm, I smoke like Slash, I never show my face, I play air guitar better than him, and I would gladly tell you where i'm staying, without doing anything illegal"
Of course you would. Hahaha
Well I read 2 newspaper reviews today and they both said as good as it gets live nowadays basically. So I'm interested now (didn't like Slither at all)
