<<"It is very likely that this website will be taken offline next year. After two years of running this website I haven't received any support or a simple "thank you" for promoting the band. My posts on the official SAS Band message board are being censored and deleted. Time to leave, I guess.">>
That's a shame, and also a disgrace. Martin is clearly a fan, and his site is superb. It's updated more than the official s(h)ite and is a much better info source than link.
Disgusting treatment as well.
Well, it's far better than the official site, and I feel Martin has been treated unfairly by some SAS supporters as well as the powers that be. I personally feel he deserves more thanks for what he's done, which is a site that documents the history of the band in a very detailed way. I appreciate it, even if no-one else does.
Martin is very devoted in what he does. I've just visited his SAS site for the first time and seen some pictures. They are stunning!
I sure support him. He recently told me he was going to see the SAS band and I sure wish I was there too because the SAS band is great. In April 2004 I bought the SAS dvd in London and then had it signed by Spike. He was very enthusiastic about this and asked me where I had bought the dvd.
He also should be very enthusiastic about a fan making such a tribute site about his band.
But first of all if one makes a site, it must be because he wants that himself. Just one thank you can give you the power to go on, but that's not always how it works.
On my site I have written (in my view) some nice stories about my visits to the WWRY musical and asked the webmistress of Brian May's site if Brian could at least take a look at it. Never got a reply, even from the webmistress. I even noticed someone had send a picture to Jen (the webmistress) of Brian with the Argentina cover band I took in London myself and that picture was published on Brian's site with a thank you to that person. I told Jen the picture was mine and if she perhaps could give me credit. Not even an answer from her. she does know my site because I once placed a picture taken during the shoot of the GVH2-commercial on my site and within hours Jen told me to remove the picture because of copyright by Brian. Ah well, life is real.
Martin, if you like working on your site, if you like following the works of the SAS band, try and continue your site. YOUR fans like it!
Who really cares about the SAS Band?
I'm not a bit interested about a band that a guy who sometimes sang with Queen formed. Sure, they can have good songs and you can like them for that, but this band is just as much Queen related as Guns 'n Roses.
The SAS Band is fun and it's good that Martin runs his excellent website link
I really hope he does not take it down, it's typically good and I find it funny when Jill from the SAS Band office keeps posting in his guest book telling people that this is NOT the official website :) I really feel sorry for her that a fan's website is so much better that it's mistaken for the official website but to delete Martin's posts on her own message board makes her look a bit jealous. Too bad that competition is not perceived as a challenge by some people but rather as a threat.
First of all, thanks for all the support but I really don't want to make this a public issue. It's my private decision because I'm not happy about what the band management does (or doesn't). That's all and I don't want to make a big issue of that.
"this band is just as much Queen related as Guns 'n Roses"
Could be true... except that 80% of all recent Brian+Roger performances are with musicians from this band.
Rien, thanks for your words, I know you're a very devoted fan too and I know what you mean about brianmay.com. I think Jen is basically a very kind lady (who could successfully run the fanclub instead Jacky, as I suggested) but from my own experiences she replies quickly only when she needs something. When you or I want something from her, there's usually zero reply.
I got a nice story behind the 2 autographs Brian kindly sent to me. I told Jen to ask Brian to write my name in one of them...and he did it!
So even though Jen doesn't reply too much, my Brian and Jen story is very sweet for me.
