The last time I bought this subject up people seemed to react really badly? they really didnt seem to like Seals version from the '92 tribute gig, and I cant for the life of me think why!?
I really like it, I think its a really really good version and I dont mind saying it.
I was just wondering what your thoughts on it are, good or bad and the reasons why.
Kev x
yeah i like it... not one of my favourite performances of the night... but at least its not painful to watch / listen to ... unlike some others.
But it would be fair to say that Seal chose the right song to sing...
Yeah, I liked it too. Not that he sang it particularly great. On the contrairy, but that does give the song a great deal of vulnerability that fits it. Different but very emotionally right. I remember being very moved by it on the night. And of course nice to hear him sing the 'Ian and Belinda' version instead of the original...
Seal did quite well indeed, especially compared to some others who tried to sing that night..
Seal did say he was very excited about singing WWTLF but when he tried it for the first time, it was very very difficult. I suppose that's why they changed the key. Which is alright, cos he did a good job, in the end.
He was only there because he'd won about 15,000 Brit awards in the february before! If he hadnt have won one then I very much doubt he'd have been there! Ive always like the music of Seal, but at a Queen concert?????
I agree his participation there was just for bringing the star of the moment. But I liked his performance, very different to Freddie's/Brian's, but if you want to hear it, you can always put the album and that's it
Lord Fenderro (a.k.a. Fenderek) wrote: Didn't really like the fact, that he changed the key... Brian's guitar lost it's power on that one... The whole song sounded a bit flat to me...
He wasn't the only one.
A lot of artists at the Tribute Concert had to change the key on the songs in order to not sound off/key if they tried to hit on of those high notes that Freddie usually used on Queen songs.
Seal gave a good performance. I'm glad he was given a spot on the show.
"I personally liked Seal's performance better than George Michael's."
Nah... Seal simply sung WWTLF whilst George Michael "performed" STL - i still think he was aweswome that night!
Axl though, to me will always be an "acquired taste"

Queen changed the key as well when playing it live.
